a day passed swiftly.

everyone had been occupied throughout the day; apart from lunch, they remained productive.

tang rui was the most industrious among them. while others assisted, he was the main contributor to the assembly work.

when they returned home in the evening, tang rui retrieved the fascia gun to relax his entire body, especially his tight waist. a full day of bending over had left him exhausted.

“i won’t be working out today; i’m feeling a bit tired,” tang rui weakly told li shuyao while lying on the sofa as she sent a video.

“why are you so tired?” li shuyao asked, puzzled.

“i had no choice. 1 had to assemble the drone. 1 was busy from morning to night without a break.”

“alright, then rest well.”

li shuyao didn’t say more and started moving and then went for a run.

tang rui lay on the sofa, massaging himself with the fascia gun while watching her on his phone. however, his attention wasn’t on the phone; instead, he was contemplating how to improve the speed of drone assembly, even with celia’s assistance. he felt he had been quite inefficient today, doing a lot of unnecessary work.

“why don’t 1 use the learning console to study the entire assembly process tonight?” he pondered.

the rest of the time was spent learning and selling, which felt like a waste.

“is that okay?” li shuyao asked.

“alright… ah… what did you say?”

tang rui was lost in thought and didn’t hear li shuyao’s question clearly.

li shuyao, who had finished her run, looked at tang rui’s absentmindedness and took a few deep breaths.

am i not attractive anymore?

something was amiss.

two days ago, he said he was busy and couldn’t practice yoga with her. then, he claimed that no. 11 company was working overtime and couldn’t go on a date. now, he didn’t even accompany her to the gym and seemed distracted while watching her run.

“i mentioned that 1 want to visit your company tomorrow. is that alright?”

“sure, but i won’t have much time to spend with you. don’t blame me if you get bored.”

“it’s not your fault. you’ve been working hard all day. rest early. 1’11 go shower.” “aren’t you doing yoga?”

“i’ll skip it today.”

after li shuyao finished speaking, she hung up.

tang rui pursed his lips. he felt like he might have said something wrong, but he couldn’t pinpoint the issue.

he didn’t dwell on it.

he got up from the sofa and prepared to take a shower. before sleeping, he transferred the steps and instructions for drone assembly to the learning console and learned them while dreaming.

the night was quiet.

the next day, tang rui sent li shuyao the company’s address before heading to work.

why didn’t he pick her up? she didn’t mention it, and her house wasn’t on his way. it made sense.

it wasn’t that tang rui lacked emotional intelligence; his mind was preoccupied with drone assembly, leaving little room for other thoughts.

li shuyao received tang rui’s message while having breakfast and didn’t mind his not picking her up.

upon arriving at the company, tang rui put on a dust-proof suit and entered the assembly workshop. he assessed the components on the floor and the partially assembled drone frame from yesterday, thinking about how to proceed today.

after some time, everyone arrived, and work commenced.

“pass me the sensor.”

“don’t install the equipment yet; thread the cable first.”

“we need to reserve space over there.”

tang rui directed the team efficiently.

initially, no one saw an issue with his instructions; after all, he’d led them this way yesterday. but soon, they realized something was different—today’s progress was remarkably smooth, with minimal errors.

li shuyao visited the company that day, witnessing tang rui’s commanding presence in the assembly workshop.

men were often deemed most attractive when they were deeply focused, and tang rui was no exception. his natural handsomeness was elevated by his intense concentration.

“president tang, someone is here to see you.”

“hmm?”

tang rui, engrossed in drone assembly, looked towards the entrance.

“oh, it’s you. i’m busy right now. if you’re bored, you can use the computer in my office.”

“no need. can i watch here?”

“of course, i’ll get you a dust-proof suit.”

“alright.”

li shuyao quickly suited up and joined the assembly workshop. tang rui continued working as if she wasn’t there, directing the team with precision.

at noon, tang rui suddenly noticed li shuyao was missing.

he returned to his office.

there, he found a table overflowing with dishes; li shuyao had ordered an extravagant meal from a restaurant.

“where did you order all this?” tang rui asked, puzzled, surveying the feast of dishes arranged in porcelain plates.

“at the restaurant; 1 had it delivered.”

tang rui was surprised; this spread likely cost a substantial amount.

originally, they were all having simple lunch boxes. yet, li shuyao had treated everyone to a lavish meal.

tang rui called everyone in to share the feast, while li shuyao and he retreated to his office to eat.

the dishes were the same, but li shuyao had thoughtfully arranged a smaller portion for them.

“i’m sorry for not being able to spend time with you and for making you spend money,” tang rui said apologetically.

“it’s alright. they’ve been working hard, and you’re leading them. this is compensation for their overtime,” li shuyao replied.

“i didn’t make them work for free; i’ve paid them overtime.”

“alright, you’re not a heartless boss.”

they continued their meal and conversation, the atmosphere becoming more harmonious. tang rui had anticipated li shuyao being upset, but she seemed perfectly content.

after lunch and a short break, tang rui led the team to resume work. progress was swift, and by day’s end, the entire drone was taking shape.

tang rui estimated that at this rate, they would complete the drone assembly in no more than ten days. he was highly satisfied with the pace.

after wrapping up work for the night, tang rui and li shuyao dined at a local restaurant.

“i went shopping yesterday and bought you two sets of clothes,” li shuyao mentioned.

“thank you. i haven’t had a chance to get you a gift yet, but i’ll make it up to you,” tang rui replied.

li shuyao sensed something different in tang rui today.

“can i visit your house tomorrow?” she asked.

“sure, but i’ll be busy working. if you don’t mind, you can accompany me, but there won’t be much free time,” tang rui replied.

“that’s fine. i understand you’re busy,” li shuyao said.

after dinner, tang rui settled the bill, and li shuyao sent a message to her mother: “i won’t be coming home tonight..”
