God's Imitator

The results of this test also had a certain reference value for Cai Zhiyuan.

Option B’s characteristic was: completely unheard of, but an option that many uninvolved players from other communities chose.

Option C’s characteristic was: conceptually consistent, but seemingly problematic in details, and it was an option recommended by a scheming in-game player with conflicting interests.

In a situation where one couldn’t be 100% certain, whether to believe the ’player representative’s’ statement largely depended on the trust or suspicion between players.

If players had been deceived more often in other games and habitually suspected others, they were more likely to change their original thoughts because of the details in Kong Yuxin’s expression, demeanor, and wording.

The fact that more community players chose B wasn’t necessarily because they deliberately misled the in-game players, but more likely because their own interests weren’t involved, so they didn’t take answering the question seriously at all.

Perhaps some players in the community knew the correct answer, but other players didn’t necessarily consult each other, and might not even read the question carefully. They very likely gave an answer directly based on their first impression.

After all, the rules only said this question would be displayed on the hall screen, but didn’t mention at all how other players would submit their answers.

Would it count based on the first impression that formed in the player’s mind? Or did they need to clearly give an oral answer? Or did they have to go to places like vending machines to manually submit answers?

After giving an answer, would it be modified as their thoughts changed? Moreover, community players didn’t necessarily know the questions were related to an ongoing game.

These subtle differences would all affect the community players’ attitude toward answering, which would then affect the final results.

From the current situation, the answers from uninvolved community players seemed closer to ’the first feeling of players without relevant professional knowledge’. Perhaps they could eliminate one option, but they couldn’t necessarily be used directly as a reference.

Cai Zhiyuan looked at the earnings on his console and the three different light effects, which were ’green’, ’green’, and ’gray’ respectively.

They should be hinting at the connection between this answer’s specific reward and punishment values and the hidden rules.

”From the light effects, there are a total of three reward and punishment rules, and I triggered two positive reward rules, so I gained 7000 points of earnings.

”The other three people might have all been misled into answering option B, though there are also a very few other possibilities.

”If this is really the case, then it means that in our room, all five people have personalities that don’t easily trust others.

”Kong Yuxin did successfully test this point, but it also further worsened the already fragile mutual trust.”

Although Cai Zhiyuan answered the question correctly, it wasn’t because he believed Kong Yuxin, but because he was suspicious on an extra level.

Almost all five players had confirmed that the others weren’t personalities who easily trusted others, which would inevitably also affect the subsequent game progress.

It became even harder to give consistent answers.

The five minutes of free discussion time quickly passed, and everyone’s facial mechanisms closed again, unable to speak.

The second question appeared on the large screen.

[Chomsky’s core proposition in linguistics is ( )]

[A. Language ability originates from acquired reinforcement training]

[B. Humans innately possess a language acquisition mechanism]

[C. Language structure reflects social power relations]

Seeing this question, all five players were somewhat surprised and couldn’t help but look at each other.

Obviously, this question was much more excessive than the previous one.

This was a professional linguistics question. As long as a player had never heard of Chomsky before and didn’t know his specific propositions, they could only guess.

Because they couldn’t deduce it from the literal meaning.

Cai Zhiyuan’s gaze swept over the other four players, wanting to see who would be the ’player representative’ for this question.

From the situation with the first question, these questions had a certain probability of being ”matched positions”, meaning that when each player served as the ’player representative’, they would encounter questions from their own profession, giving them a certain advantage in their knowledge system.

If this was really the case, then deceiving people with this question would be easier than with the previous one.

What surprised everyone else was that this round’s ’player representative’ was that handsome guy from Community 1, Gao Jialiang.

Cai Zhiyuan hadn’t participated in the ’Blind Date Game’ before, so he had only heard that Gao Jialiang was handsome, but didn’t know what he specifically looked like.

Seeing his face now, he found he was indeed very handsome.

It was just a pity that in this kind of game, he couldn’t really take advantage of his looks dividend.

Cai Zhiyuan fell into contemplation. He began to doubt whether the speculation about ”one professional question per person” actually held true.

Gao Jialiang was obviously also very confused. He was stunned for a while, then spread his hands and said rather helplessly, ”I don’t know why this question chose me as the player representative.

”I’ve never studied linguistics at all and have absolutely no clue.

”I believe everyone else also doesn’t know the answer, right?

”In that case, we might as well directly choose the same answer. At least the rules clearly stated that doing so would yield extra earnings.

”We can just test exactly how much the extra earnings are.

”My suggestion is to choose C.”

The other players had various expressions, but they couldn’t speak and couldn’t raise any objections.

After 3 minutes, the results from the ’uninvolved players’ answers appeared on the left side of the console.

[A. Language ability originates from acquired reinforcement training, 33.9%]

[B. Humans innately possess a language acquisition mechanism, 42.5%]

[C. Language structure reflects social power relations, 23.6%]

Obviously, the uninvolved players’ answers this time were more dispersed than the previous question. The three options didn’t differ much, and at a glance they didn’t seem to have any reference value.

For this kind of obscure and uncommon question, only a very small number of players in the community should know the correct answer.

With 3 minutes, it would be absolutely impossible to urgently go to the library area to check information, and the uninvolved players in the community had absolutely no need to do so.

After considering, Cai Zhiyuan ultimately chose option B.

[The correct answer to this question is: B. Humans innately possess a language acquisition mechanism.]

[The net earnings of the five players in this room are: -11000 minutes of visa time.]

[The question setter will receive 11000 minutes of visa time earnings.]

On Cai Zhiyuan’s screen, his earnings for this round of the game were also displayed: 7000 minutes of visa time.

This time the light effects were still green, green, gray.

As soon as the facial mechanisms unlocked, Cai Zhiyuan frowned and complained, ”What’s going on? For questions where you completely don’t know the answer, you’re still unwilling to choose the same option?”

Gao Jialiang was also somewhat helpless, ”I don’t know.”

Kong Yuxin said quite innocently, ”I chose C.”

Yang Hui, who hadn’t spoken before, still remained silent.

Xu Zhao had been very angry during the previous question, but now he was almost laughing from anger, ”Great, great, great. Everyone’s acting skills are pretty good.

”Gao Jialiang, are you sure you chose C yourself?

”These five questions are clearly one professional question per person. I suspect you deliberately lured us into choosing the wrong option, then went and chose the correct option yourself.”
