God's Imitator

Clearly, this joint implication mainly affected players who possessed more shelters.

Especially Community 12.

They had built all inferior shelters, and distributed them fairly evenly among the four players aside from Chen Guangming. So except for Chen Guangming, all were targets of joint implication.

Community 15 had clearly guessed this crime long ago, so Wang Weidong had been deliberately avoiding letting players from the same community hold too many shelters.

From common reasoning, 2 shelters should be absolutely safe.

So Wang Weidong made everyone hold only 2 shelters as much as possible, building new ones after selling them.

This meant they weren’t affected.

Community 17 also made similar precautions, so they were similarly safe and sound.

Only Community 9’s situation was somewhat special. Although Zhang Shichao had also guessed that simultaneously holding multiple shelters might be a crime, his choice was to have the only player with a death-avoidance opportunity hold all remaining shelters.

So these players were jointly implicated, but still had shelters to avoid death. Many plots with completed shelters continuously emitted light. Signs shattered one after another.

Especially Community 12. They used inferior shelters to avoid death, so there might be situations of consecutively consuming 2 or even 3.

However, because enough shelters were reserved, even in cases of worse luck, they could still successfully avoid death.

Fan Zehui looked at these destroyed shelters, feeling very distressed.

But he had no choice, because they had already discussed this problem internally within the community. It was a necessary risk to bear for earning gold coins.

From the results, although shelters were lost, there wasn’t too much impact.

Because the game was about to end. All criminals’ crimes had already been announced. Besides the final vote, there wouldn’t be any other instant death punishments.

And for the community in the final vote, they had already reached consensus.

They were safe.

...

On the big screen, the broadcast sounded again.

[The latest listed transaction price for shelters is: 26 gold coins.]

At this moment, more and more players couldn’t hold back and began purchasing shelters.

Because this was already the final round. If they still hadn’t purchased any shelter, when leaving they’d have all their visa time deducted.

And 26 gold coin shelters could at least let them retain 20% of their visa time. Always much better than having everything deducted.

Because it was already the final round, the audience’s gold coins could be credited immediately.

Large amounts of gold coins gushed from the coin outlets beside shelter signs, heavy in hand.

Each gold coin represented quite considerable visa time.

At the same time, another broadcast appeared on the big screen.

[The final vote will now proceed. The community selected by vote will suffer instant death punishment one additional time when the game ends.]

Players looked one after another at the screens on their arms. This voting time was very ample, because the last round had just begun not long ago, and the vote would only take effect when this round ended.

However, just then, Cao Haichuan came to the center of the venue and said in a calm tone, ”I know what you’re thinking. Perhaps you want to select Community 17 as the target.

”But I advise you, if you choose Community 17, you’ll pay the most terrible price. This game will become a river of blood.”

Wang Weidong was stunned, ”River of blood? Why?”

Cao Haichuan shook his head, ”I can’t prove it to you now, because once proven, this matter will inevitably happen.”

Wang Weidong frowned slightly, ”Alarmist talk. Do you think such simple bluffing can deceive anyone?

”Besides the final vote, there’s only one death rule left in the game rules now, which is the punishment for against-conscience judgment.

”But with rules so clear, everyone voted according to their true inner thoughts. For Chen Guangming’s judgment, they also used ’against-conscience votes.’

”People who can’t pass lie detection, no matter what, can’t possibly exceed half.”

Cao Haichuan looked at Jin Cheng from Community 7, and Zhang Shichao from Community 9.

”Our three communities can vote together for Community 12 or Community 15. That’s also enough to exceed half.

”When my crime was announced, there must also have been players with similar behavior in both your communities. I chose to confess and didn’t let joint implication affect you.

”Moreover, after the game started, we’ve also been continuously expressing sincerity to you.

”Even so, will you still vote for us?”

However, Jin Cheng lowered her head and said nothing.

Zhang Shichao looked at Jin Cheng, then at Cao Haichuan. Clearly, if Community 17 could definitely win, he didn’t mind standing on Community 17’s side.

But the number of players from two communities added together couldn’t reach half. Moreover, he himself was a beneficiary of selling shelters at high prices.

Chen Guangming walked over, silently shaking his head.

”Don’t waste your breath, this friend from Community 17.

”Let me say for them what’s hard to say out loud.

”Your Community 17, why should you watch from the sidelines and remain unscathed? You performed very nobly. Perhaps all audience members saw it. While we were all gouging inferior shelter prices, looking so despicable.

”You can also use special items to directly avoid death, easily avoiding joint implication punishment.

”Since your community is most noble and suffered the least losses in this game, then of course you must bear the final instant death punishment, because only this is fair.

”Our four communities are accomplices, co-conspirators.

”But precisely because of this, we must cast our votes for you.”

Clearly, the other four communities had already been firmly bound together by interests.

They were accomplices in gouging shelter prices.

Cao Haichuan of course saw this point, but couldn’t do more.

Because Community 17 couldn’t possibly collude with them. Directly selling shelters at low prices could naturally sabotage their price-gouging plan, but would only invite even greater hatred, making the result of the ’final vote’ even more without suspense.

So players from Community 17 chose to wait until now, trying their best to attempt persuading Community 7 and Community 9 once more.

After this, regardless of the result, they would sell excess shelters at the last moment, letting those few lucky ones among the audience who could persist to the end bring back as much visa time as possible to their communities.

In any case, it counted as giving everyone a final opportunity as much as possible.

However, as the broadcast on the big screen sounded, the last possibility also disappeared.

[Final voting has ended.]

[More than half the players selected ’Community 17.’ Players from this community will suffer instant death punishment one additional time when the game ends.]
