God's Imitator

Xu Tong clearly couldn’t quite keep up with these two people’s discussion rhythm. She said somewhat puzzled, ”Power imbalance? It shouldn’t matter that much, right? Our community only has 12 people in total.

”With one vote per person, no extreme situations would occur.

”Moreover, from Lawyer Lin’s current performance, he’s the strongest person in the community and someone who sufficiently cares for the weak. Even if he holds a bit more power, it shouldn’t matter, right?

”Even if problems really appear, we can just vote to restrict him then.”

Wang Yongxin asked back, ”Do you really think so?

”Do you think that just because a mechanism theoretically allows you to vote freely, you can actually vote freely?

”From Lawyer Lin’s current performance, he is indeed perfect enough. For many people in the community, it wouldn’t matter at all even if they completely handed over all power to concentrate it in Lawyer Lin’s hands alone.

”After all, he can always make the most correct choices in games. Other people giving up thinking and completely trusting him, lying back and earning visa time, this is the most time and effort-saving method.

”But can you read minds?

”How do you know what Lawyer Lin shows is the real him?”If all this is an act, then when he thinks the time is ripe and reveals his true face, will there still be any way to remedy it? Can we bear the consequences?

”Don’t trust the conscience and morality of the strong. The weak have only one choice when dealing with the strong, that is for everyone to work together using rules to constrain him.

”If he doesn’t care about this, then we should maintain this constraint just right.

”If he feels dissatisfied about this, then we should strengthen this constraint even more.

”The weak don’t deserve to ’trust’ the strong, just as wild animals don’t deserve to ’trust’ humans.

”Choosing to transfer rights to the strongest in exchange for survival, then once it fails, the result is having neither rights nor survival.

”If you think the optimal choice for the weak is to find the strongest person in the community, throw up your hands, hand over all your rights and wait for him to carry you, then in the future no strong person will ever consider your opinions.”

Xu Tong thought again, ”But we’ll frequently encounter judgment games after all. Who knows, we might die any day. Thinking so much, in the end it’ll just become empty.

Wang Yongxin nodded, ”Yes, judgment games could arrive at any time, we could also die at any time, so should we just completely give up in the community and not care about anything?

”’Everyone could die at any time’, this at most counts as a mindset for self-consolation. But this can’t be a principle for doing things. We can’t think that besides life and death, nothing else has meaning just because we could die at any time.

”Just like in ’Blood Poker’, the aversion and fear of blood draws, and the desire for security, can make people lose their ability for rational judgment.

”Similarly, out of aversion to death in judgment games and desire for safety, you might also subconsciously want to obtain safety by transferring rights, but this is likewise irrational behavior.

”In the most dangerous judgment games, in the vast majority of situations you can’t count on the strong’s help, you can only rely on yourself. What’s the great significance of blindly depending on the strong?

”Moreover, didn’t things like immunity tickets only appear after the community was built to a certain degree? Isn’t the priority of use also decided according to voice in the community?

”If you throw up your hands in the community, resign yourself to fate, hand everything about yourself over to the strong for disposal, then when Li Renshu is forced to choose between two people when using the immunity ticket, why would she choose you?”

Both Yang Yuting and Xu Tong fell into silence.

Wang Yongxin sighed silently and continued, ”In any case, what I want to emphasize is this: even if I enter the five-person inner circle, I won’t forget that you two are my most important supporters.

”Whether in proposal discussions or benefit distribution, I’ll still consider our three people’s votes tied together.

”But correspondingly, you two should also prioritize supporting me, and unconditionally stand on my side when I have conflicts with anyone else.”

Yang Yuting and Xu Tong each nodded, ”Mm, understood.”

After thinking for a moment, Yang Yuting said again, ”Then this way, within the five-person group internally, you’ll actually be closer to Li Renshu instead.

”I wonder what Cai Zhiyuan’s attitude will be.”

Wang Yongxin didn’t care, ”That’s not important. After all, he’s just an adviser who will adjust his positioning at any time according to the actual situation. His opinions are actually insignificant.”

...

At the same time, Li Renshu was also having a private exchange with Cai Zhiyuan.

”Brother Wang has already agreed.

”Tomorrow we’ll discuss a new proposal and bring Brother Wang in too.

”I’ve also privately communicated with Yinzhang. She said she doesn’t need proposal veto power and doesn’t care whether she enters our five-person group.

”However, I still made her a promise that as long as there’s any reduction in the five-person group, she’ll definitely fill the vacancy.

”In addition, although she’s not in this group, she can directly reflect any opinions to me privately, and I guarantee I’ll consider them carefully.”

Cai Zhiyuan nodded, ”Mm, this is best.”

Li Renshu continued, ”I know between you and Wang Yongxin, there may be some philosophical disagreements, and you’re somewhat at odds, but since we’ve decided to bring him in, everyone should try to get along peacefully.”

As she spoke, she carefully observed Cai Zhiyuan’s attitude.

Cai Zhiyuan showed no resistance at all. He nodded, ”Of course.

”I think it’s necessary to re-emphasize this: what I say doesn’t necessarily 100% represent my views. Sometimes, I merely think that according to the meeting’s progress, an opposition is needed at this moment, so I’ll play this opposition and emphasize the opposing side’s opinions again.

”This prevents certain possibilities from being simply overlooked due to opinions being too consistent, creating hidden dangers.

”But as I’ve told you before, if I don’t express extreme opposition with intense words, then you don’t need to take my other opposing opinions too seriously.

”Those might also be for others to see.

”For me, there are very few things in the community I completely can’t accept. It’s nothing more than making more or less adjustments to myself.

”I position myself as an adviser, so I only give opinions, I don’t make decisions. Similarly, whether you adopt these opinions or not doesn’t matter to me.”

Li Renshu was silent for a moment. Of course she had known all this long ago but sometimes she still couldn’t be certain what Cai Zhiyuan’s true thoughts actually were.

”Then returning to this question, do you really think Wei Yinzhang is the better choice?” Li Renshu asked.

Cai Zhiyuan said indifferently, ”If I had to say, these two candidates are probably about a 49% to 51% difference to me. Wei Yinzhang’s priority is slightly higher, but only slightly.”

Li Renshu carefully observed Cai Zhiyuan’s expression, ”Then have you considered the issue that after Wei Yinzhang enters, Lawyer Lin’s influence would greatly increase?”

Cai Zhiyuan nodded, ”I’ve considered it, otherwise Wang Yongxin couldn’t possibly have 49%.”

Li Renshu relaxed somewhat. She let out a somewhat melancholy breath and leaned back against the sofa.

”Actually, there’s another very important reason I want to let Brother Wang in.”

Cai Zhiyuan asked, ”Besides contribution value, seniority ranking, and balancing Lawyer Lin?”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Mm.”

Cai Zhiyuan lowered his head in thought for a long time, ”I can’t think of what other reason there could be for now.”
