ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

「Kuh, what the hell!? What the hell is even that thing!? Some sort of a sea anemone!? It really starts to piss me off……!!」

「No, I don’t think that this is a sea anemone at all! Most probably, this is just a group of insect-like monsters that when grouped together mimic thorns. But I can understand why you would think that they are sea anemones to begin with. Fufufu…… In any case, please just leave this to me!」

「…… Huh? O-Oh, y-yeah. Alright. Whatever you say.」

After Rei-san managed to discover the true identity of the boss of the enemy army, she then proceeded to swiftly give commands to her own troops in order to decimate her enemies as fast as humanly possible. However, because the vast majority of her troops are the way that they are, even with precise orders the battle was not exactly going as it should have been. But you have to give credit where credit is due: maybe the AI in this game is not one of the best out there, but when it comes to blindly charging their enemies, the Yuri Maidens Corp was second to none, and was doing that without even the slightest bit of hesitation, “Rosel, the King of Thorns” included……

「If you would want to hear my opinion on the subject at hand, this monster’s weakness is going to be exposed at the exact moment when it is going to try to attack us. This strategy might be a bit risky here, but if you are confident that you can apply some sort of consistent knock-back damage, you should focus on doing just that for the time being…… Now, press the attack! Give them no quarter to defend themselves!」

「Huh? Ahh, y-yes, that’s right. Understood!」

No, seriously, this is really dangerous right about now. When it comes to people and bugs, those things make people act up in a way they would never act under any sort of circumstances. You see, if we were to put an example here, it would be like having a woman character behave like a perverted old man, so it would basically be like switching the female character in to a male one. It’s that kind of situation that should never take place in the first place…… It’s like a personal mod that disappears without being exposed to the rest of the world.

「Although it would seem that us player character do not posses any sort of combat capability, but when it comes to those grunts, they can quite easily play any role that you desire for them to fulfill: from being a Tank, to focusing aggro on themselves, and even dealing tons of damage.」

「Yeah, it would certainly seem that way to me.」

「Then if it is indeed so, then the skills of the player itself, should be something of a limitless potential, since the player itself cannot be targeted by the opponents since your troops are keeping them occupied and unable to switch their focus ––––––」

「Ah, right there happens to be a particularly lethal area.」

Since Rei-san has become strangely talkative all of a sudden, she didn’t even realize that she was about to enter the boss’s effective attack range like it was nobody’s business. Good thing I actually managed to grab her hand and pull her back before anything potentially disastrous could have happened…… However, because the tip of the boss’s whip has a larva-like face, and it is an integral part of the boss itself, which is probably a colony of hornworms or caterpillars, Rei-san was almost stuck in place.

「Seriously now, Rei-san. Are you absolutely sure that you are feeling alright?」

「–––––– Fuuh…… Thank you very much, Sanraku-kun. You managed to save me from danger.」

「Huh? Ahh, yeah, about that…… Don’t mention it. You’d do the same for me if you were in my shoes.」

What the hell is this…… Umm, hmm, yeah. I wonder if…… I think I can remember it in just a little while longer here……

「All units, prepare to attack! Defeat the enemy! Give them no quarter! Pave the way for us to move forward!」

「Ahh, now I see. Now I get it.」

Ahh, I get it now, so she’s basically starting to become somewhat like Kyogoku. It is also Kyogoku that seems to have a stupid glitter effect when she is relatively in good condition in Bakumatsu Online. It is said that the probability of witnessing something like this is soberly rare because it is usually seen by volunteers, and they always end up dead after a few seconds.

And since the game is only that, a game, they can’t complain even if they are treated as expendables, but something like that only tends to work in games such as Bakumatsu Online. Rarely expendables get to be so lucky as to see their revenge being exacted on the opponents. And with people like the Raid Boss around, you can’t really be mad at anyone for things being the way they are.

「Ah, my dear Believers! From the front, let one group lead the charge, while the rest of you is going to split into two distinct units and take the enemy into a pincer attack!」

「「「AS YOU WISH, OUR DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!」」」

Yeah, just keep on doing your very best here…… Ah, it seems that one of the believers just got eaten.」

Our followers excel in group actions, but their individual powers are inferior to Rei-san’s Yuri Maiden Corps. So I can’t worry about each and every one of them dying, with the main goal still being in my mind…… As the guru and the leader, sometimes I have to make ruthless choices with rationality in mind. Oh, one person died again. Come on, my Believers! I know that you can do better than that!

「No more sacrifices can be overlooked, it’s time to prepare… !!」

Oh! For some reason, the memories of the Spell Creation Online era started to resurface inside of my mind! And then they started to assault me all at once, making me feel as though I was about to cry and break down on the spot.

This is bad, at this rate Rei-san is going to make the history repeat itself all over again! …… No, but what if we were to try this? Is it okay if the ongoing Kyogoku seems to enjoy life so much? Do I have any right to deny her that?

「Oh, won’t you look at that. It’s dead.」

「Yes, we did it, Sanraku-kun…… It’s really hard to call this a complete victory, but at least those who died did not died in vain.」

「Y-Yeah, I guess that you can say that.」

If I get this correctly, in order to proceed forward, we need to make a sacrifice here. And there is no way around it. And we need to sacrifice two whole people.

What happened to the fuel of the bonfire that warms the body but needs blood to be shed in order to run properly? There’s a guy in the corps who seems to care about Rei-san a little bit TOO much…… Which makes those kind of guys way less loyal than they need to be. So the matter here is simple.

But doesn’t a thing like that basically create a multiplayer competition for all the NPCs out there?
