ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

It seems to me that there is no better expression that fits the current situation rather than “cutting out”. Yes, the Golden Age was actually cutting out parts of itself. It was unexpected that the sword scissors suddenly popped from the inside of the crystal right when the “Holy Sword” was destroyed, but…… The even greater mystery here was the fact that there seemed to be a huge source of light overflowing from its wounds all over its body, including the remnants of the tail. And that this strange light was now shaping itself to look just like a huge sword. So I guess that it must have been something triggered specifically by the destruction of that “Holy Sword” just now.

The current Golden Age had two of its forelimbs combined together, and there was a huge amount of light heating up like a charged laser shot in shape of a sword now emerging from the remnants of its stinger. So I guess that by actually getting rid of that “Holy Sword” we might have made things increasingly more difficult for ourselves here. Or maybe not more difficult, but more complicated. Also, there was this tremendous feeling of intimidation that could be felt from Golden Age about now, one that was strong enough to make both Sigma and myself come to a halt and think for a moment.

「No matter how I look at it, if we end up accepting this thing head on, the only possible outcome that awaits us is death. No doubt about it.」

I mean, that’s a pretty logical statement, don’t you think? You end up face-tanking a laser beam and you die as a result of such a foolish action. It’s really simple and ultimately easy to understand. It’s that kind of premonition that you couldn’t possibly miss even if you were desperately trying to do so. So even now I am not going to push my luck and try to see if it would result in something else entirely.

「Yeah, and besides…… Dying right now and right here of all times and places would really suck, wouldn’t you agree?」

The claw-scissors no longer move freely like they used to do before. Now, instead of that free movement they had a range twice greater than that of the original “Holy Sword”. And the same could now be told about the remnant of the tail…… With that kind of specs, it could be said that the Golden Age was now wielding some ultra-high firepower in its claws, and that is without even mentioning that its range for potential insta-kill attacks effectively doubled. It might have seem like a joke to some people, but I assure you that it was not at all a laughing matter.

However, there is never such a thing like a rose without its thorns, and it would seem that there are some risks involved with those new upgrades as well. Obviously we have the wear and tear of the crystals that constitute of its body and weapons, and then there are those strange fluctuations of light in both the scissors and stinger to consider…… Maybe it’s a sign that some sort of a time limit was approaching? If it actually turned out that I can win this thing just by frantically running around and do nothing, that would have been a mercy that I would have never actually expected.

「Sigma, wait for just a moment, why don’t you?」

「…… Huh? What are you going to do now, Master?」

「Hmm? Hey, so I have been thinking, but…… Do you think that there something that could possibly transcend the Best Friends Forever stage? Like Super Best Friends Forever? Or maybe Mega Best Friends Forever? …… Oh yeah, I know! Maximum Over Best Friends Forever!」

I was also wondering if all that frantic running around was really good for me. I mean, I am pretty much happy with the results that we are able to get here, but at this rate I might actually wake up on a certain day to a reality where I am going to be forever banned from Rabbitz. And that would be something that I would really like to avoid if I could help it.

One thing is the attitude of Emul that’s been really changing lately, but there is more to it than that. I think that lately the requirements for the Vorpal Soul meter were growing stricter and stricter for me. So I guess that while there is no possible cap for that Vorpal Soul meter, it can pretty much scale into infinity, and that is going to present a whole different set of troubles down the line. And sooner rather than later. The maximum score is not the minimum quota.

And why is it that something is prickling my eyes for a while now? It’s as if its getting sunnier and sunnier in here for some reason…… Then naturally, my line of sight was directed towards the source of this strange light. Oh? Is that perhaps the sun slowly starting to rise up from behind the horizon? But isn’t that actually a bad thing? We should really be getting this thing wrapped up really soon now.

「If your Comrades are challenging the greatest game of your generation, there is no way that you cannot also participate in the hunt! Because if you were to chicken out and run away with your tail in between your legs, your comrades would never possibly forgive you for this!」

「Question: Can I ask what your true intentions here are? Because surely there must be some sort of a hidden agenda here.」

「Come on now, it’s all about making a choice that you would not end up regretting later! We must be absolutely prepared and not run away at the very first sight of danger that is to come our way! You see, when people are facing difficult challenges, we often find the never-before-seen loads of courage inside of us! Something that we would normally never even suspect ourselves of having!」

「Repeating the question: Can I ask what your true intentions here are? Because surely there must be some sort of a hidden agenda here.」

「Well, of course it was to come here, fight and perform in such a way to achieve nothing short of a perfect, flawless victory! If I managed to do just that, then surely tomorrow’s breakfast is going to taste even more delicious than it normally would!」

Now then, as for the actual breakfast that I am going to have…… Maybe I should go for some omelet with salmon flakes sprinkled on top of it? Now come on then, Your Majesty the King! Let’s make this thing into one last showdown before the end rolls around! Let’s see which one is stronger: my blade or your blade, forged from the crystals scattered across this land? Thinking that I take out the Duxalam Greatsword and assume the battle stance, getting ready for what was surely to be the final showdown of this battle. Or I was really hoping for it to be just so.

The dawn is nearly upon us…… Now then, my Comrades! It’s time for one final push! Let’s take back what was rightfully hours from the very beginning! The time of the glorious revolution is nearly upon us!!!
