ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

「Overseas, huh……」

「R-Rakuro-kun…… Umm, could it be that you are interested in studying abroad as well……?」

「No, not really. It’s just that I don’t wish to get close to America, if I can help it.」

That, and there is also something else……I feel like I need to avoid that place like a plague! Recently, there are many mysterious letters and packages that arrive at our doorstep that are being addressed to me, and even Katsu is telling me that in the nearby future a company or two from overseas might actually present me with an offer that I won’t be able to refuse! If you have first class tickets, don’t just fling those things around as if it was nothing!!

「B-By the way, I had to get off early yesterday for certain reasons, but what did I missed? What happened after I was gone?」

「Hmm? Oh, yeah, right. After that, some people pressed on ahead towards the ninth layer……」

Similar to the way in which the Leviathan was constructed, the bottom layer of the Behemoth is the goal itself in here. In other words, the ninth layer is going to be the players’ final test.

As expected, according to Rei–san, the ninth floor was the place where the final “examination” of Behemoth was imposed upon the challengers, but it seems that the difficulty level is way higher than the shopping cart elevator of the fourth layer of Leviathan.

「Ahh, so you mean like, it’s something of the sort “I’m going to throw you into a simulated natural environment for a limited time without actually explaining anything” kind of a thing?」

「Yes…… People didn’t know what to do when faced with that kind of a challenge, and so they reached their limits quickly and ultimately gave up before the time limit……」

Well, at least now we know what to expect.

・ It does not mean that you will automatically survive until the time limit is reached.

・ It is not about defeating monsters in the simulated environment.

・ The possibility of looking for a specific item is not zero at the current moment

・ But even if it is about item search, there are no clues whatsoever about it.

Something like that. In other words, it’s not anything easy and simple, but something complicated and forcing you to achieve some sort of hidden extra condition.

「If possible, that is, umm…… Yes. If you were feeling like cooperating with me, Rakuro-kun, that…… Yes, that would be a huge help.」

「Hmm. Well, I have done all of my errands and I want I wanted to do, so I would like to make up for what I suddenly missed yesterday, so that might actually be a good idea……」

GUN!! Gon!!! GUN! !! !! Gaggy!!!!! (The sound of a ringtone)

「Hyaha!?」

「Muh.」

The guy who set this ringtone said he wanted to “Try and play Beethoven’s “Fate” with nothing more but metal hitting sounds…… No, there is only one person in the entire world who would do that!

「Please excuse me for a moment.」

Subject: 「Urgent」 I would like to ask for your cooperation

From: Takeda Green Beans

To: Sanraku

Body: Regardless of the details, I want you to play this indie game and judge whether it is a shitty game or not.

I’m arguing with an acquaintance of mine about the pros and cons of this game.

「……………」

「Umm…… What happened?」

「Ah, no, it’s just that…… It’s nothing all that serious……」

If my shitty games mentor of all people wants me to play some game, then you can bet your sweet ass that I have no other choice but to do as he asks of me and play it. After all, the fact that Takeda-san asks me for my opinion means that he was unable to reach a solid conclusion on his own, so it means that this particular game must be so ambiguous. Even more so that he seemed to play it with some friend of his. So two people being unable to reach a conclusion means that this game is a serious business. A business to discern the nature of a potential shitty game, no less! …… so I must lend them my help! As far as I have searched by clicking on the URL provided, it’s an indie game, it’s also a trial version published for the sake of fundraising. So you could say it’s pre-play version…… When it comes to indie games, they tend to be really funky and sometimes even beta versions can drip some serious shitty game energy. The title of this thing is…… “Death Game Rebellion Online”.

Yeah, the title earns it thirty five points at least! However, depending on the content, it might actually be plus forty points!!!

「So it’s an online game……? Indie beta……? Who would have thought?」

Are you serious? Are you actually sane here? You’re raising money because you don’t have money!?? What about the servers…… You know what? Never mind. It’s not worth it. It’s just not worth it. …… Is this what the absolute pride that “this game is going to shine online” is all about? Do you have that much confidence in your product that you want to pay for it if you let people play it beforehand like that? Is that some sort of a new business model that I am not aware of?

But come on now, Rakuro…… You were branded a shitty game referee now, so you can’t back out of this one……

「What is this? A game of some sorts?

「Ahh, this? You see, one of my friends wanted to hear my opinion on that game, so they sent me a link to it…… Apparently they are having an argument with some other buddy of theirs about this game.」

「Umm, is there something I……」

…… could do to help you out with that evaluation of yours? I mean, why not? After all, this thing might actually not be a shitty game in the least, and turn out to be a piece of some really good game out there.

「Incidentally, Rei-san? Would you like to try this game out together with me for a moment or two? That is, if you are absolutely okay with this and you have the time.」

「Dehyomo!?」

…… Say what now? Should I take that as a “Yes”?
