A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 745: Chapter 745: Exiles (6)

Newly promoted Abyssal Kings typically attract a large number of challenges.

As the strength of this Abyssal King becomes widely known and acknowledged, challengers gradually decrease until finally, when this Abyssal King demonstrates unparalleled power befitting their status, it is completely normal for no one to dare challenge them for hundreds of years.

Thus, it is only when another Abyssal King faces the same issue that both ultimate powerhouses might battle, potentially giving birth to a Supreme Sorcerer of the World through the abyssal dueling rules!

The so-called ’Abyssal King’ Green, however, is merely the Abyssal King of this tiny Panguela Abyss, almost negligible compared to One-Star, Two-Star, Three-Star, Four-Star, and Five-Star Abysses. Nonetheless, the rules for challenging the Abyssal King remain the same.

Of course, this Abyssal King hasn’t been recognized by the Wizard World’s rules and is self-proclaimed.

It’s unknown how many hundreds of years Agrimond, who displayed unmatched power through the Mechanical Burst Fighter Holmzi, will have to wait to be challenged by another Abyssal King or noticed by the world’s will for powerful beings again.

Compared to the torment and distress Agrimond faced, Green is undoubtedly in the same position Agrimond was during the first few decades of ascension to the Abyssal King, facing endless challengers without respite!

In thirty years, Green experienced seventy-nine battles of varying scales. Sixty-one challengers were killed by Green on the spot, fourteen challengers left after handing over substantial wealth, and only four challengers successfully fled after failing the challenge.

”The eightieth.”

Green’s body naturally elongated, and activating the first layer of Wild Instinct had become as easy as breathing, posing no burden to Green’s body anymore.

If Green wished, he could maintain the state of the first layer of Wild Instinct indefinitely with no issues.

Wielding the Sword of Malice, Green turned into an afterimage and charged towards the Abyssal Giant Centipede; another fierce battle began.

Over the years, Green gradually adapted to the rules of life-and-death combat and breakthrough evolution among Abyssal Creatures, benefiting immensely from frequent combat. With life-and-death struggles, magnetic field circulation, and male poison body refining strengthening his body threefold, Green’s basic physique was growing at an astonishing rate.

After half a Sand Timer’s duration.

Unleashing the second layer of Wild Instinct with the ivory armor, Green transformed into a three-meter Bone Spikes Giant, standing on the corpse of the Abyssal Giant Centipede. The toxin attacks from this Abyssal Giant Centipede posed a limited threat to Green, making it easy for him to kill this formidable Abyssal Creature in the ivory armor state.

”Ha ha ha! Young master, let’s use it as nourishment for the Prism Flame Fruit Tree since the abyssal plants over there are overly nutrient-rich by now.”

As the runes on the Sword of Malice fluttered, a small slit suddenly opened at the tip of the sword, releasing a mass of sealed blood and flesh from the Abyssal Giant Centipede. White smoke billowed from the stone slab on the ground, emitting a sizzling sound.

”Hmm.”

After Green nodded, he suddenly asked, ”By the way, how’s the situation with the Colorful Rooster? Is it healed? Can the Illusory Lotus mature on schedule?”

Xiao Ba slyly smiled and said, ”Young master, I think it’s been trying to delay the maturity of the Illusory Lotus by a few years on purpose. Humph, in my Master Eight’s perspective, that Illusory Lotus can mature in at most two years. That guy was just preparing to monopolize the lotus seeds and run away. With Little Wan and the Thousand-Eyed Giant Crab watching there, you don’t need to worry.”

”Two years already?”

Green stroked his chin, pondering before saying, ”In this small Panguela Abyss, the most capable one to succeed the position of Abyssal King should be that guy. Let’s see what price he can offer; there are plenty of accumulated supplies here.”

...

Within the Panguela Abyss, the strongest permanent resident that Green acknowledged should be that Abyssal Ancient Locust Tree.

Every time Green’s position as Abyssal King was challenged, the Wild Sixth Sense always vaguely sensed other probing gazes, making Green very uncomfortable until one day, by using the Face of Truth, Green finally discovered the track of the peeper; it was the roots of that ancient abyssal tree.

This creature had extended its roots into this underground Space.

Green even suspected that this creature might be a native of this small Abyss.

After that, the other party apparently realized Green’s awareness and stopped spying.

Whoosh!

After flying within the Abyss for a day and a half, Green arrived at the nest of the Abyssal Ancient Locust Tree, or rather the cave it disguised its trunk as, with the cave entrance automatically sealing up as soon as Green walked in, which was no surprise to Green, continuing to walk along the passage.

At this moment, Green was moving forward in the abyssal old tree’s hollow.

After a while, specks of light from fireflies appeared in the tree hollow, floating in midair, exquisitely beautiful, illuminating this small space at the end of the passage.

At the end of the tree hollow, where the entwined branches gathered, a vaguely human old witch’s face formed, gazing at the golden-haired Wizard walking step by step, along with the brightly colored parrot on his shoulder.

”Gah gah gah gah, Old Locust Tree, my young master has come to sell the Abyss King title at a bargain. Interested?”

Even before they arrived, Xiao Ba had already started blabbering.

Green had been here twice before and naturally sat down on a chair made of large vines in the tree hollow, taking a glass of juice essence offered by the Abyssal Ancient Locust Tree, emanating a dense, stimulating aroma of the abyss, or rather a unique natural scent from the abyss.

Eyes fixed on the human face illuminated by the specks of firefly light at the end of the passage, Green raised the glass of juice essence, a faint smile on his lips as he spoke: ”As my partner Eight Rainbows Nevis said, I am going to leave the Panguela Abyss, and from my observations, the one most qualified for the next Abyssal King within this abyss should be you.”

Having said that, Green drank the juice essence in one go, an indescribable comfort spreading, seemingly rejuvenating the fatigued cells of his entire body.

”Hehehehehe...”

The giant face formed by branches laughed slowly.

”Shadow of Despair, do you know why the original namer of this abyss, Panguela, fell 2,300 years ago?”

Green shook his head, not sure what the Abyssal Ancient Locust Tree meant to convey.

The face of the Abyssal Old Tree showed a hint of mockery, ”At that time, Panguela was a renowned strong entity of the Tristar Abyss Holy Tower. However, the Abyss King of the Tristar Holy Tower at that time was simply too powerful, leaving Panguela with no chance at all. To satisfy her vanity with the title of Abyss King, she came here, defeated the former ruler, established herself as the Abyss King, and renamed this abyss after herself.”

”And then?”

Green asked casually, seemingly not too concerned.

The old tree replied in a deep voice: ”Later on, when the Two-Star Holy Tower Abyss King came to challenge the Tristar Holy Tower, he passed by here, and upon hearing of Panguela, he specifically came here to kill her, thus estimating the power of the then Tristar Holy Tower Abyss King.”

”Damn, you’re indeed very cautious, old fellow, gah gah gah, if you don’t want to buy, fine, Young Master, that old fox, the colorful rooster’s rival, will definitely be interested in the Abyss King.”

With a grumble, Xiao Ba nodded, getting up with a smile, bidding farewell to the Abyssal Ancient Locust Tree.

Two days later.

Arriving at another hidden cave, Green was warmly received by the host here, the Gale Fox, who was said to have escaped from the same Beastfighting Arena as the Colorful Rooster, both being exotic slaves.

”Abyss King title? No, no, no, such a thing is useless without the corresponding power, and the target is too obvious. Once the bounty hunters find this abyss, they are bound to head to where the abyss’ energy is strongest.”

The old fox’s eyes twinkled, smiling, ”Your Excellency the Shadow of Despair, since you’re leaving anyway, I am interested in trading for the living supplies in the abyssal cave.”

After thinking for a while, Green nodded, realizing that the Abyss King title could not be sold as he had imagined, like a mere item.

With that, Green abandoned the idea of continuing to sell the Abyss King title, signaling Xiao Ba to slowly negotiate the prices of those stockpiled living supplies with the old fox.

”Gah gah gah, what price do you intend to offer?”

...

Only after a full day and night did Xiao Ba and the old fox finish negotiating every ounce of the living supplies in Green’s underground cave, confirming it by means of a contract.

Both sides obtained acceptable terms.

Just as Green was about to leave, the old fox, suddenly with a twinkle in his eye, said: ”I suppose you’ve reached some kind of agreement with that rooster, Your Excellency Shadow of Despair, but kindly let me remind you, the most precious part of the Illusory Lotus isn’t actually the lotus seeds, but rather the lotus flower possessing the power to commune with mysterious dark shadow energies.” (To be continued.
