A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 709: Chapter 709: Spring Guardian

”Is there really no way to stop it?”

Magic power disruption, the magic power Green could control within himself was rapidly dwindling. This was the result of Green’s Forgotten Truth Spatiotemporal Sealing Technique being forcibly destroyed by external forces—Magic Backlash!

Through indirect contact with the giant tongue, Green faintly sensed a powerful ancient creature from the half-illusory world on the other side of the spacetime node, watching the Wizard World with fierce eyes. Its vast and invisible body was peeking from the other side of the space node, intending to reach into this wonderfully real world full of magical auras.

The more detached the illusory world, the more likely it is for a Dominator of that illusory realm to be born, possessing the marvelous ability to communicate with Phantom Rules. As for the half-illusory world, it is a transitional world between reality and illusion, possessing the ability to traverse between the two.

Strictly speaking, even the Nightmare World could be considered a half-illusory world, though compared to the world of scents, it leans more towards the illusory.

Gasp!

Yellow stinky liquid spread, and as the Phantom Rules influence on the Wizard World intensified, a strand of powerful aura appeared in the spacetime node. This mighty creature of scent finally managed to breach the barrier between reality and illusion and descend into the Wizard World.

”Alas...”

A sigh, though the Wizard World would never fear any world beyond the community of civilization worlds, yet if such a powerful creature descended, this small piece of East Coral Island would...

Hmm?

Something’s not right!

Green finally noticed something amiss and realized why no World Guardian had appeared on East Coral Island until now!

The Dark Well at Krakatoa Port on East Coral Island is where the Eye of the Wizard World is located. A wisp of the Spring Guardian’s will is guarding there, so the entire East Coral Island and surrounding sea areas naturally don’t need monitoring by other World Guardians.

However, for a powerful World Guardian like the Spring Guardian, these weak scent creatures below the World Master level invading are probably just like a mosquito flying past a normal human, hardly detectable. So, with more than a day gone by, this disaster zone remained unnoticed.

In other words, if the disaster here expands further, perhaps the Spring Guardian will soon detect the rule anomaly here and personally descend to investigate.

If so...

Green couldn’t help but cautiously sense the spacetime node anomaly using his Hunting Nose, quietly waiting for this terrifyingly powerful half-illusory scent creature to arrive, forcibly curtailing his urge to escape here through Xiao Ba’s Spacetime Communication Talent.

The Magic Backlash continued to intensify, and Green’s internal magic he could mobilize dwindled even further. The extent of this Magic Backlash on Green was certainly severe!

At least two to three hundred years, or as many as five to six hundred years, Green would be unable to mobilize magic again.

Such a degree of Magic Backlash would indeed be a devastating blow for a typical Elemental Wizard, as most wizards generally only live between four to eight thousand years, rarely reaching the Official Sorcerer limit of ten thousand years. It equates to about one-tenth of a wizard’s lifetime without magic, becoming an ordinary human.

But for a Body Refining Sorcerer like Green, it’s still barely acceptable as at least he wouldn’t suddenly turn into an ordinary human.

Perhaps Green could take this opportunity to better pursue the path of a Body-Cultivating Wizard in the Abyssal Underworld.

The reason Green was not willing to leave here was that after paying such a heavy price, he was awaiting his due compensation and rewards.

If Green were to leave this dangerous land now, though he would gain safety, he might also miss the chance to meet the Spring Guardian.

As time ticked away, the magic Green could mobilize within himself became less and less, and under the Face of Truth, his face grew increasingly stiff. Unknowingly, a layer of cold sweat had wetted his body as he continuously sensed how much of the enormous scent creature had passed through the spacetime node to descend into the Wizard World.

”No, there’s no time...”

Just when the last bit of magic Green could control was only enough to perform Long-Distance Teleportation Sorcery once, suddenly, a force filled with the World’s Power spread over. Caught off guard, Green sensed it keenly, hesitated, and thus missed the last chance to escape.

Rumble, rumble, rumble...

Shrill spatial vibrations approached rapidly, at unimaginable breakneck speed, an old witch appeared, precisely the will avatar of the Spring Guardian whom Green had once seen in the Dark Well cabin.

At a thousand meters high, the Spring Guardian’s avatar paused mid-air, scanning the ground’s vast yellow stinky liquid lake in amazement, and her eyes passed over Green, who felt as if the entire Wizard World was peeking at him.

Immediately, the old witch’s eyes fell on the formless and intangible scent creature descending on the Wizard World through the bluestone altar.

In the sky, a massive vortex unknowingly formed around the avatar of the Spring Guardian, with violent elemental turbulence converging desperately under the World’s Power.

Crackling!

Red and blue crisscrossing thunder arcs surrounded, each thunder arc’s attack strength far exceeding the current Annihilation Force Arc Green could muster. Yet at this moment, the sky gathered tens of thousands of thunder arcs, formed naturally by the power of the Wizard World stirred by the Spring Guardian!

Those eyes filled with defiance, wisdom, and anger locked onto the foreign object in the Wizard World. Instantly, the enormous scent creature froze, stuck on the spacetime node between reality and the illusory.

In a moment, the chaotic rule space of Beziel City in the Wizard World became overwhelmingly oppressive, eerily quiet, and Green could even hear his own breathing.

Boom!

Yet in the next moment, Green only felt himself like a leaf in a fierce storm, a sailboat in turbulent waves, unable to control himself amidst the raging World’s Power and Force of Nature.

With a roar, his body’s raging muscles expanded layer by layer, wild golden hair flying, black wild fur sprouting, barbed bone armor, and black scales covering, the upper body of the ten-meter figure brawny like a sphere, with sturdy short limbs, roaring, Green had triggered his Level 3 of Wild Instinct’s Barbarian Giant form!

After that, Green could barely stand in the air, his broad, powerful arms shielding his head, protecting himself amidst the doomsday-like sky.

It lasted for quite a while before the doomsday-like World’s Power and elemental turbulence stopped. Opening his thick arms that shielded his head, Green looked at the ground in amazement, speechless, incredulous.

The yellow stinky liquid was all gone, the scent creature as if it was a figment of Green’s imagination, all erased, utterly vanished.

Even Beziel City seemed never to have appeared in the Wizard World, replaced by vast, lush forests, thriving and growing, boundless in extent. (To be continued.
