Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

”Hmph, that insolent child hasn’t turned tail and run away, so he has some courage left.”

Ruyang King was full of despair, feeling like he couldn’t mold him into anything useful. Despite his harsh words, he still had some affection for Sharlu, the Princely Heir. If it weren’t for his great ambition but lack of talent, his laziness, and inability to fulfill great duties, how could the foundation of Ruyang Royal Mansion have fallen upon Wang Baobao?

Although he greatly appreciated and valued Wang Baobao, he was ultimately not his own flesh and blood, not sharing his surname or ancestry.

Yet, Sharlu proved himself unfit for great responsibilities, and if the foundation of Ruyang Royal Mansion were to fall into his hands, it would all be for naught. Therefore, Ruyang King’s attitude was resolute: he couldn’t pass the throne to Sharlu.

If he did, given Sharlu’s intelligence, he might make some foolish decisions in the future, and perhaps accidentally offend Wang Baobao.

By then, if Wang Baobao were to rebel, Sharlu might not even retain his wealth as a Princely Heir, and his life might be endangered.

As for the notion of eliminating Wang Baobao first to pave the way for his own son, if it were a time of peace, Ruyang King might consider it. But given the current era, with external bandits and internal chaos, domestic troubles and external threats abound.

If he were to cut off a great general, the entire foundation of Ruyang Royal Mansion could be destroyed by bandits.

Instead, it would be better to make full use of Wang Baobao; he truly possessed substantial talent. With him, at least the foundation of Ruyang Royal Mansion wouldn’t fall, and as long as it stands firm, Wang Baobao’s nature would ensure a favorable outcome for Sharlu.

At the very least, he could guarantee Sharlu’s wealth and prosperity, which is sufficient.

Ruyang King, as a parent, planned deeply for his children. He wasn’t only good to Zhao Ya, but was actually kind to Sharlu too, since Sharlu was his first son. However, this son was truly disappointing.

If only he had half of Wang Baobao’s, no, if he had half of Zhao Ya’s wisdom and intelligence, Ruyang King would undoubtedly pass the throne firmly to Sharlu.

Ruyang King had lamented more than once; why isn’t Yaya of male gender? If Yaya were a man, how could the legacy of Ruyang Royal Mansion be so difficult to pass on?

It was due to Ruyang King’s belief that Sharlu was unfit for great use, ambitious yet inept, that all hope was placed upon Wang Baobao, with such dedication to nurture him.

No one is a saint, and the foundation of Ruyang Royal Mansion was fought for by Ruyang King with life and death. If it weren’t for the descendants’ utter uselessness, he would never promise the successor role to the adoptive son, Wang Baobao.

This shows how much hope Ruyang King had for the foolish Sharlu.

Wang Baobao, seeing Ruyang King’s demeanor, said: ”Father, how about I go into the city first to persuade the Princely Heir? He’s just momentarily confused; let’s not leave room for conflict and losses among our White Deer Army people.”

Ruyang King, upon hearing this, looked at Wang Baobao and said: ”You return to the city, Kuo Kuo? Do you know Sharlu wishes he could hack you into pieces?”

Wang Baobao, upon hearing this, said: ”I think the Princely Heir might have misunderstood me.”

Ruyang King chuckled and said: ”Kuo Kuo, whether he misunderstood or not, you understand better than anyone. Think it over; if you return to the city, Sharlu won’t be hospitable to you, especially since there’s Flame Monk Jiukong, the third disciple of the Living Buddha, within the city. His power at the Melt God Realm can be considered top level, and only Wushan’s Mother Gu or Emei Sect Leader Master Jue Mie with the Jade Maiden Sword could rival him.”

”You have mid-stage Melting Furnace power; you would be overwhelmed by him.”

Wang Baobao, upon hearing this, looked at Ruyang King and said: ”I’m going to reason with the Princely Heir, not to fight him, adoptive father can rest assured, I believe he won’t harm me.”

Ruyang King looked at Wang Baobao and then shook his head: ”No need, Kuo Kuo, I won’t bet your life against that insolent child’s rationality.”

”But Father, if not, I fear the Princely Heir truly will clash with us!”

Wang Baobao expressed his concern to Ruyang King, who, after hearing this, looked at Wang Baobao and said: ”Clash with us, just him?”

”Hahaha, relax, he doesn’t have that ability, just wait, before tomorrow, surely news will be sent to us.”

”Thinking of Sharlu trying to stir up chaos with just him.”

Ruyang King’s gaze was filled with disdain toward that insolent child; he truly didn’t understand how he could have birthed such a useless thing.

At that moment, Zhao Ya also came in and said: ”Third brother, just rest assured, there won’t be any fight. With Father’s reputation, who in Longxing Prefecture’s White Deer Army dares to draw swords against him?”

”Big brother wanting to fight Father is completely wishful thinking; it’s impossible.”

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King laughed: ”Hahaha, still my daughter sees clearly.”

As he spoke, Ruyang King’s eyes were filled with affection, his fondness for Zhao Ya was immense. What a pity she wasn’t male; if she were, Ruyang Royal Mansion would be solely hers!

Thinking this, Wang Baobao looked at Zhao Ya and said: ”Yaya, I just fear, what if?”

Zhao Ya said: ”Rest assured, third brother.”

Wang Baobao fell silent, truly he had his own little thoughts about proposing to return to the city; with the current tension between Ruyang King and the Princely Heir, his return surely meant promotions and maybe becoming a candidate for Princely Heir.

At a time like this, if he didn’t show his capabilities, it seemed like he was just waiting to reap rewards, fearing Ruyang King might harbor resentment.

So he proposed entering the city to talk with Sharlu, not as much to negotiate but chiefly to show his stance, the act of negotiation being key!
