Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chen Jie, after this journey to the Great Capital, not only rescued Zhang Dingbian’s junior, Kang Maocai, through his own methods, but also pulled Tuotuo down from the pedestal, winning Zhang Dingbian’s wholehearted allegiance and making him part of Chen Jie’s command.

Chen Jie holds him in high regard and is preparing an opportunity to cultivate him into his number one general.

Through long reflection, Chen Jie discovered that among his own people, Chen Xiaohu is the most loyal to him, but his loyalty exceeds his inner strength.

He lacks the ability to command the whole situation.

As for Zhou Chu, he is even more of an experienced schemer, more suited as the leader of nationwide government officials rather than being a Great General commanding thousands of troops.

Regarding the army commander of the Three Great Armies of Cyan Dragon, White Tiger, and Vermilion Bird under him, each has a personality typical of the Jianghu, brave but lacking tactics, making them unsuitable for major tasks.

After searching back and forth, Chen Jie found it difficult to identify a satisfactory overall commander, but this time, the trip to the Great Capital yielded much, as he directly found the genius Zhang Dingbian.

This person has strong martial power, but what’s even more formidable is his military capability. Chen Jie once discussed military strategies with him and was surprised that many of his insights resembled those in Wu Mu’s Legacy, although they were only rudimentary and couldn’t withstand scrutiny.

Yet this already showed the qualities of a commanding talent. Chen Jie only needs to give Wu Mu’s Legacy to him, and he will surely quickly grasp it. Such a person is indeed a born military genius.

His ability is really quite similar to Zhu Chongba’s prominent general Xu Da, with both being equally matched.

Therefore, Chen Jie entrusted him with an important task. He also has a small wish, which is to personally kill Tuotuo, who cruelly caused his master’s tragic death and his junior’s disfigurement.

This time, Chen Jie assigned Zhang Dingbian this task.

Zhang Dingbian looked at the Holy Decree he held, then looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Rest assured, Lord. Ah Xiong and I will take a trip to Hebei, kill Tuotuo and hurry back to Huangzhou Prefecture without delay.”

Chen Jie nodded at his words and said, ”Mm, be careful on your way. Although Tuotuo has lost influence, he has entrenched himself in the Great Capital for many years, and he has some loyal subordinates. Be cautious in everything; don’t let things go awry.”

Zhang Dingbian looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Rest assured, Lord, I understand.”

Du Xiong said, ”With me along, there will be no problem, Lord, but can you manage returning to Huangzhou Prefecture alone?”

Chen Jie responded, ”What do you mean alone? This time, I’m returning with my father-in-law, rest assured, it won’t be lonely.”

After hearing this, Zhang Dingbian and Du Xiong left directly.

Not long after the two left, Chen Jie found an inn and saw the worried Zhao Ya.

”How is it?”

Seeing Zhao Ya, Chen Jie asked, and Chen Jie said, ”Everything’s been clarified, your father is leaving the Great Capital tomorrow; we can leave the city tomorrow and wait outside.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya looked at Chen Jie and said, ”That’s really great.”

Then Zhao Ya looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Thank you, Jiu Si. Without you this time, I truly wouldn’t know if I could rescue my father. I really don’t know how to thank you.”

Listening to Zhao Ya’s words, Chen Jie smiled and said, ”Yaya, do you really not know how to thank me?”

Zhao Ya’s face turned red instantly, and she looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Not now.”

Chen Jie looked at her and said, ”Of course I know not now. What I want to say is, after we return tomorrow, I’ll marry you. Will you marry me?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Yes! But have you thought about how to meet my father tomorrow?”
