Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Every mention of meeting his old father-in-law gave Chen Jiusi a headache, since his old father-in-law was no ordinary person.

Ruyang King, Heavenly List Expert, the leader of Jiangnan Five Roads Eighty-One Prefectures, a true big shot.

If Ruyang King only held these titles, Chen Jiusi wouldn’t care much, after all, what kind of big shot hasn’t he met? Even the Emperor was surrounded by him, if the Emperor hadn’t dodged into the Ancestor Tower, maybe the Daqian Emperor would have been replaced by him, so high office and status don’t attract Chen Jie much, nor does he fear them.

But Ruyang King had another identity, he was the father of the Commandery Princess.

This identity made Chen Jie wary, because he could treat the Emperor and other Heavenly List Experts equally, and if displeased, he dared to confront them.

But there was no way around Ruyang King, no matter what, you have to consider Buddha’s face, and if not Buddha’s face, you have to consider the face of your fiancée, the Commandery Princess.

Chen Jie was a bit apprehensive about tomorrow, this old guy might not give face, leave him embarrassed.

Of course, Chen Jie was mentally prepared, after all, they raised a delicate flower for eighteen years, and now he’s taking her straight away, he couldn’t give him no face at all.

So tomorrow, even if Ruyang King acts like he’s angry, he would endure, let him and respect him.

If only for the Commandery Princess’s face.

Zhao Ya clearly saw Chen Jie’s mood, sitting on his lap, she wrapped her hands around his neck saying, ”Sorry to let you suffer.”

Chen Jie looked at Zhao Ya and said, ”No choice, even though you and I truly love each other!”

Chen Jie and Zhao Ya’s affection was enough for Chen Jie to make some concessions, Zhao Ya saved him with her Phoenix Blood on Five Poison Mountain, how could he forget her kindness?

Impossible!

Memories flooding back, Chen Jie kissed Zhao Ya’s forehead and said, ”Sleep, I know what to do tomorrow.”

Zhao Ya heard and looked at Chen Jie saying, ”Jiu Si, you’re so good.”

Chen Jie heard and said, ”Comparing to this, I prefer you calling me husband, you’re really naughty!”

Zhao Ya blushed and said, ”I like to hear that, wait until our wedding night, I’ll call you then!”

...

The night passed without words, and the next morning, Ruyang King awoke from the Imperial Palace, or rather didn’t sleep well the whole night, upon rising, palace maids attended to his washing, and after finishing, he prepared to leave, unexpectedly informed by Mr. Zhao that the Emperor would personally see him off.

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King’s mood was uncertain, he could only wait until late morning before he was granted audience with the Emperor.

After performing the formalities, he met the Emperor, who was having breakfast, and upon seeing Ruyang King immediately offered food. Ruyang King only drank a small bowl of lotus seed soup, not eating more, seeing Ruyang King’s lack of appetite, the Emperor rose and said, ”Brother Wang, this journey to Jiangnan, you must relieve my worries, Jiangnan is Daqian’s tax heartland, this Silver Coin cannot afford issues.”

Ruyang King responded, ”Your Majesty rest assured, as long as I am here, Jiangnan will be solid as gold.”

The Emperor nodded lightly, ”Very well, I trust Brother Wang.”

Ruyang King clasped his hands and said, ”Dare not spare effort for Your Majesty and the empire.”

The Emperor, hearing this, said, ”Ah, it’s for me, for Daqian.”

Ruyang King said, ”For Daqian!”

The Emperor, taking Ruyang King’s hand as they left the palace, ”Brother Wang, the matter I mentioned yesterday was not idle talk, now Daqian continually seeks talent, if truly skilled, I would grant titles, rewards, and even perfect marriages.”

Hearing this, Ruyang King looked to the Emperor saying, ”Your Majesty, do you mean?”

The Emperor said, ”I know, actually I know everything, is Princess Xiangning associated with Chen Jiusi of Huangzhou Prefecture...”

Ruyang King was shocked, unexpected that the Emperor even knew Chen Jiusi’s name, his eyes filled with shock, the Emperor grinned at this, ”Did you really think I was unaware?”

”I am guilty!”

Ruyang King immediately half-kneeled, unexpectedly the Emperor said, ”Rise, rise, Brother Wang what sin is there, after all, daughters must marry, the Commandery Princess has her own thoughts, it’s expected, I don’t mind.”

”But whether the Commandery Princess marries a true hero concerns me, so Brother Wang must convey my words.”

”If Chen Jiusi truly has the talents of a Prince, I would not hold back, Earl, Marquis, Duke, even Prince I am not unable to give!”

”Your Majesty, you?”

Ruyang King was stunned by the Emperor’s magnanimity, and then saw the Emperor say, ”Zhou Gong took the spit, united the world in loyalty.”

Ruyang King hearing this was shocked, since when did the Emperor become like this, talking of Zhou Gong’s loyalty, yet decades of managing absence.

Yet delegated major affairs to Tuotuo, fed Tuotuo until now overgrown, if not for the Royal Family’s oversight by the Living Buddha, turning over this time would be tough.

But he soon hid his expressions, keeping his head down, appearing harmless.

The Emperor finishing his act of the wise monarch, looked at Ruyang King, ”Brother Wang, I’ll see you off here, hoping you will not fail my trust!”

Hearing this, Ruyang King took a deep breath saying, ”Rest assured, Your Majesty, I will not fail your kindness.”
