Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

”Report!”

Inside the hall, three people were discussing the upcoming battle when a voice was heard outside that reported. Hearing this voice, Wang Baobao looked at Ruyang King, who gently nodded: ”Come in.”

With the sound, a herald entered from outside, and upon entering the door, he knelt on one knee and said: ”Prince, there’s a letter from Longxing Prefecture.”

Ruyang King asked: ”Where is the messenger?”

The herald then said to someone outside: ”Come in.”

Upon hearing this, a person entered from outside, quickly following by kneeling on the ground and saying: ”This humble servant greets the Prince.”

Ruyang King then looked at the person entering and said: ”Hassan?”

”Indeed, it is I,” replied Hassan.

Hassan was once one of Ruyang King’s trusted aides and was later assigned to the White Deer Army, serving as a Hundred Households in the Third Legion. Now being sent here indicates that he is a clever individual.

After all, Hassan was considered someone Ruyang King trusted more than the average soldier.

”Stand up!”

At this moment, Ruyang King’s attitude became more congenial as he raised his hand to let Hassan rise.

At this time, Hassan knelt on the ground and said: ”This humble servant dares not.”

Ruyang King looked at Hassan and said: ”Have you done anything to betray me?”

Hassan replied: ”This humble servant, this humble servant sought shelter with the Princely Heir, and I deserve a thousand deaths.”

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King looked at Hassan and said: ”Haha, while I was away, there’s nothing wrong with the Princely Heir assisting in governance. The fault does not lie with you but with the Princely Heir. Stand up.”

”Yes, thank you, Prince!”

Hassan then stood up, and Ruyang King looked at him and said: ”Tell me, what is your purpose in seeking me this time?”

Hassan said: ”I have a letter for you from the three White Deer Army Commanders in the city.”

Upon hearing this, Ruyang King glanced at his sides, implying: ”See, they come as soon as they are summoned, without waiting for tomorrow!”

Zhao Ya responded with a smile, and Wang Baobao had a look of agreement with his father’s words.

At this time, Ruyang King extended his hand and said: ”Hand it over.”

Hassan immediately retrieved the letter from his bosom, and Wang Baobao stood up to take the letter and handed it to Ruyang King.

Ruyang King opened the envelope and extracted the letter inside.

After reading it from start to finish, Ruyang King looked at Hassan and said: ”Hahaha, very good. Go back and tell Zhang Shicheng that he made a wise choice!”

Upon hearing this, Hassan immediately complied and slowly began to withdraw. Once Hassan had left, Wang Baobao asked: ”Father, what did they say?”

Ruyang King handed the letter to Wang Baobao and said: ”They said once we reach Longxing Prefecture, we should surrender. Zhang Shicheng even asked if we should detain Sharlu.”

”To facilitate our entry into the city.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Baobao said: ”That Zhang Shicheng is quite clever, knowing to approach us directly with such matters.”

Ruyang King replied: ”This Zhang Shicheng is quite a good chap, conducts matters well and is very astute, aware of the situation. However, such a person should not be utilized excessively as it might lead to disaster.”

”Yes, Father.”

Wang Baobao nodded upon hearing this, and Zhao Ya said: ”Father, why don’t we set out tomorrow and arrive at Longxing Prefecture early?”

Ruyang King replied: ”Hmm, tell the brothers not to bring too much baggage tomorrow, enough provisions for two days will suffice. Once we reach Longxing Prefecture, we’ll directly enter the city for a victory feast.”

”Yes!”

Upon hearing Ruyang King’s words, the two present unanimously agreed.

Without further conversation, early the next morning, the army set out, heading straight for Longxing Prefecture, and Longxing Prefecture was already informed.

Sharlu hadn’t slept all night. The next day, donned in armor, he headed straight for the city wall. It was the first time in many years he had earnestly wanted to succeed at something, and he immediately ascended the city wall.

By this time, the city wall was already full of soldiers, each holding their respective weapons. Various fortifications were set up on the wall. Sharlu paced along the wall, inspecting the troops.

He addressed all the soldiers: ”Brothers, I do not expect perfection from each of you; all you need to do is one thing, and that is to hold the city gates today, not letting the enemy troops advance. Tomorrow, I’ll lead you to victory.”

Listening to Sharlu’s words, Zhang Shicheng and others showed disdain, wondering why he was saying such nonsense, actually expecting the troops to hold the city today and celebrate victory tomorrow. What was he thinking?

Did he really think warfare was child’s play?

Or was he simply trying to showcase his foolish efforts using these troops, to their Lord, Zhang Shicheng and others sarcastically responded ”yes,” but their faces were filled with disdain.

At this moment, the Living Buddha’s third apprentice, Flame Monk Jiukong, also arrived and said to Sharlu: ”Ruyang King’s army is less than ten miles from Li City.”

Upon hearing this, Sharlu’s face grew solemn, saying: ”It seems we need to increase our efforts.”

Speaking these words, Sharlu turned to Jiukong and said: ”Master, do you think we can hold Longxing Prefecture until tomorrow?”

Jiukong replied: ”Doesn’t the Young Prince find it strange?”

Sharlu looked at Jiukong in surprise and asked: ”What is strange?”

”This Longxing Prefecture City, besides these fortifications on the city wall, have you seen other defensive equipment? This hardly looks like a place prepared for a stronghold battle.”

Sharlu looked around and said: ”I feel the preparations are adequate.”

Jiukong said: ”A long, drawn-out battle will surely involve more than one offensive, but the fortifications on this city wall seem only enough to withstand one attack from the Prince’s army.”

Sharlu said upon hearing this: ”Really?”

”Zhang Shicheng, Zhang Shicheng!”

Sharlu immediately called out, and hearing this, Zhang Shicheng hurried over and said: ”Prince, what’s the matter?”

Sharlu said: ”Master Jiukong says the fortifications on your city wall are only enough to withstand one offensive from the enemy. Your preparations aren’t quite thorough!”
