Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

”Father!”

Upon hearing the words of the Ruyang King, Zhao Ya looked towards the Ruyang King. This is too much, how can you accept it so easily? When the time comes, how will you reciprocate with a dowry?

Zhao Ya knew the character of the Ruyang King. He is someone who does not want to lose face, so he will definitely present wealth of an equivalent level or far superior dowry in return.

However, Zhao Ya did not want to accept such a heavy betrothal gift from Chen Jie, not only fearing that it would strain Chen Jie, but also fearing that the Ruyang King would be strained by this.

Nevertheless, the Ruyang King immediately took the gift list handed over by Chen Jie, accepting everything without hesitation.

Chen Jie and the Ruyang King exchanged a look, and then the Ruyang King spoke to Chen Jie: ”Chen Jiusi, I have accepted the betrothal gift. According to custom, during this period, you and Yaya must not meet again until your marriage day.”

”So I won’t keep you in the army; prepare yourself back home. On the twenty-eighth of this month is your wedding day.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie cupped his fists towards the Ruyang King and said: ”Then, Prince, I will take my leave.”

After saying this, Chen Jie looked at Zhao Ya and said: ”Yaya, I shall return to Huangzhou Prefecture and prepare to welcome you there.”

Zhao Ya heard and looked at Chen Jie saying: ”Hmph, I will wait for you to fetch me.”

They exchanged a glance, filled with affection, and for a moment the tent was suffused with an atmosphere called love.

”Ahem~”

However, just as they were in the midst of affection, suddenly the untimely cough of the Ruyang King was heard, preventing them from ignoring the old man.

Is it that you don’t regard me as a person?

The Ruyang King glared fiercely at Chen Jiusi; before the marriage, Yaya does not belong to you!

Chen Jie, although glared at by the Ruyang King, showed little reaction, then turned to Yuan Sanjia: ”Mr. Yuan, will you stay here or shall you come with me?”

Yuan Sanjia replied: ”I, the old man, have other affairs, so I will not accompany you.”

Chen Jie hearing this, said: ”Very well, but on the twenty-eighth, I would ask Mr. Yuan to grace us by coming to Huangzhou Prefecture to enjoy a cup of wedding wine.”

Yuan Sanjia, hearing this, said: ”Hahaha, good, good, the old man shall return.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie immediately cupped his fists, turned, and departed, preparing to rush back to Huangzhou Prefecture to arrange the matters for the grand wedding.

Soon, Chen Jie was riding alone straight back to Huangzhou Prefecture. The army marches slowly, but riding alone, he estimated that ten days would be enough.

With fifteen days remaining, Chen Jie could prepare a grand wedding for Zhao Ya.

Chen Jie left, at this moment Zhao Ya looked at the Ruyang King and said: ”Father, how could you let me accept such heavy gifts? How will you reciprocate?”

Zhao Ya worriedly looked at the Ruyang King, fearing he might use military funds to compete with Chen Jie.

Upon hearing this, the Ruyang King looked at Zhao Ya and then spoke: ”Worry not, Father will not use military funds, but he will definitely not let Chen Jiusi overshadow me. Father assures you that you will not hold your head low when traveling to Huangzhou Prefecture.”

Zhao Ya looked at the Ruyang King saying: ”Father, don’t be impulsive.”

Upon hearing this, the Ruyang King said: ”Rest assured, this King knows what he is doing.”

At this moment, Yuan Sanjia rose and said: ”If there is nothing more for me here, I shall take my leave.”

Saying this, Yuan Sanjia prepared to leave, but then the Ruyang King spoke: ”Mr. Yuan, please wait.”

Yuan Sanjia, hearing this, turned to the Ruyang King and said: ”What is it that the Prince wishes to instruct?”

Immediately, the Ruyang King smiled and said: ”Mr. Yuan, I dare not call it instruction, but rather, there is something I would request your assistance with, and I hope you will not refuse me.”

Yuan Sanjia paused and said: ”Prince jests, how could a Jianghu person like me help the Prince?”

Upon hearing this, the Ruyang King did not beat around the bush, saying to Yuan Sanjia: ”Mr., earlier you mentioned there were two trigrams yet to be cast today. Could the last one be given to this King?”

Yuan Sanjia hesitated and asked: ”What does the Prince wish to divine?”

The Ruyang King said: ”Marriage!”
