Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

The Ruyang King spent a night in the Imperial Palace, tossing and turning, thinking about many things in his mind. He knew that the rescue this time must have been the handiwork of Chen Jiusi.

Because apart from Chen Jiusi, there really isn’t anyone else who could have such quick wit. You have to know that the King has a good eye for people.

Kuo Kuo is overly cautious but lacks surprise tactics, so a strategy like a sudden palace strike is definitely not something Wang Baobao could devise.

And Yaya, although she has ingenious plans, lacks the determination; after all, she’s a young lady and naturally doesn’t possess a man’s boldness, plus things might turn sour and backfire on me, which would make Yaya hesitant to act. Thus, this matter certainly isn’t something Zhao Ya could handle.

Excluding these two, the remaining ones don’t even need mentioning. The rest, not only wouldn’t rescue me, they probably wouldn’t even have the courage to come to the Great Capital.

Especially my Princely Heir; he’s probably considering how to govern the entire Jiangnan Five Roads Eighty-One Prefectures!

Having figured this out, Ruyang King was almost certain that the one who acted this time should be Chen Jiusi. Only this young lad possesses such quick wit to think of such a clever plan.

Understanding the twists and turns involved, Ruyang King found himself even more restless. The Emperor’s words today were firmly etched in his memory.

The Emperor seemed to already know about the relationship between Yaya and Chen Jiusi; his few words were intended to enlighten me.

The Emperor wanted to recruit Chen Jiusi for national service and even promised him a title as Marquis and Prime Minister. If so, he and Yaya truly are a perfect match, made in heaven.

This way, there’s no need for me to have qualms; marrying Yaya to him would be a very good choice.

Understanding this, Ruyang King had secretly decided to recruit Chen Jiusi.

And today, the happiest would be Old Hama, taking a dangerous gamble and indeed reaping a full bounty, directly driving Tuotuo out of the Capital City, allowing him once again to dominate the government and become a power minister.

Moreover, when the court ended today and they exited His Majesty the Emperor’s Yanyan Hall, the threshold of his house was nearly worn out by various officials coming to express their allegiance, each extraordinarily humble and expressing loyalty to him.

Their intentions to pledge loyalty were indeed intense!

It was nothing like those cold shoulders he faced when he was out of power back then.

Old Hama, an old hand who had served in the officialdom for decades, naturally knew the fickle nature of officials; they follow whoever is in power. Now that Tuotuo is out, Old Hama is active in the court once more.

Though the Emperor hasn’t explicitly said so, Old Hama is temporarily acting as Tuotuo’s successor, giving the underlings every reason to approach him.

Whether amongst the Six Ministers, currently there are five in position, all but the Minister of Rites — who is key to Old Hama — were there to offer congratulations; the rest were there to cozy up to Old Hama, hoping he wouldn’t replace them.

They were all there to pledge their commitment, and beneath them were various Assistant Ministers.

These Assistant Ministers were the busiest in their visits. Being second-in-command in their respective departments, and with all first-in-command positions being filled by Tuotuo’s old subordinates, many didn’t need asking to know they’d surely be replaced, thus they’ve started pondering a move upwards.

What’s more, the Chief of Staff position in the Ministry of Personnel — a Top level lucrative vacancy — had been revoked; how could such a lucrative position not stir their minds?

They immediately moved all the exotic treasures and antiques from their homes into Old Hama’s mansion, even sending beauties, trying all sorts of ways to ingratiate themselves with Old Hama.

Old Hama indeed was as elated as a horse in spring, displaying a spirited demeanor.

Finally, approaching late at night, he dismissed these gift-givers. At this point, Old Hama was a bit tipsy, being helped by his concubine back to his bedroom.

Arriving in the bedroom and as soon as the door opened, the concubine immediately went to light the candle; with the candle just lit, her eyes widened in surprise because a young man was sitting at the table not far away.

Just as the concubine was about to scream, unexpectedly, a bullet of energy suddenly shot through the air hitting her acupoint, causing her to instantly faint.

Watching the concubine fall, Old Hama suddenly sobered up halfway, raising his eyes to look at the young man sitting at the table, nearly completely sobering up.

”Chen, Chen Shaohua.”

Old Hama looked at Chen Jiusi sitting at the table and hastily asked.

Chen Jie looked at Old Hama and smiled: ”Old Chancellor, truly the exuberance of spring like a horse galloping swiftly, surely this time you’ve profited handsomely.”

Upon hearing this, Old Hama immediately laughed: ”Chen Shaohua, what a jest, I am merely serving the nation by rooting out treachery, profit or not does not apply. Moreover, Chen Shaohua, my actions have greatly aided you, haven’t they?”

”The Ruyang King should be able to leave the capital tomorrow, and this time with imperial favor, directly elevated to the rank of Three Pearl Prince, such a gracious favor that is rarely seen; it is indeed imperial kindness. In this way, Chen Shaohua, it is you who have truly gained, isn’t it!”

Chen Jie laughed heartily: ”The Old Chancellor’s words are true, this indeed is a win-win situation for us.”

Seeing Chen Jie act so, Old Hama then asked Chen Jie: ”Since this is a win-win situation, for what purpose does Chen Shaohua come this time?”

Chen Jie heard Old Hama’s words and said: ”I come not for anything else, but to remind you, my Lord.”

Hama was taken aback and looked at Chen Jie: ”Remind me? What about?”

Chen Jie looked at Old Hama and said: ”My Lord, I know you’re currently in the exaltation of spring, but I must advise you to seriously consider one or two things.”
