Not Being a Trainer This Time

Bathing in the sea of Gold Coins, Gimmighoul at this moment only felt a surge of power emerging from the coins, continuously flowing into its body, allowing it to clearly feel that it was slowly becoming stronger.

But that power only lasted for a while before disappearing.

Almost there—instinctively, this thought popped into Gimmighoul’s mind.

It looked at Naoki and mentioned this matter.

”Ding!”

Naoki understood and began to explain the reason to Gimmighoul: ”That’s evolution. Once you gather a thousand Gold Coins, you can evolve into a more powerful Pokemon, known as Gholdengo.”

”Ding...

Gimmighoul’s eyes turned into stars like Ogerpon.

It wanted to evolve, wanted to evolve into Gholdengo!

Naoki sensed Gimmighoul’s feelings, smiled, and nodded: ”Yeah, it won’t be long now!”

Next, they were just waiting for Geeta’s reply.

However, this wait lasted until August.

League year 199, August 10th.

Larry rushed to the ranch with a briefcase.

His eyes were blackened, his face full of fatigue, looking like he hadn’t rested for a long time.

Seeing Naoki, Larry showed no surprise, he placed the backpack on the grass weakly and said:

”You’re Naoki, right? I’ve found the ancient Paldea Gold Coins you need.”

”What?” Larry’s voice was as small as a mosquito, so Naoki didn’t hear clearly.

Larry: ”...”

He repeated: ”These are the ancient Paldea Gold Coins you wanted. I’ve spent a week running through six cities to collect these coins, and I still couldn’t gather a thousand, I’m sorry, I’ve tried my best.”

The bag opened, revealing the pile of shiny Gold Coins inside, looking no less than one hundred.

Gimmighoul can finally evolve!

Naoki was extremely excited, quickly thanking Larry: ”It’s okay, these are already enough! Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Larry!”

”It’s my job.” Larry’s body began to sway weakly.

Naoki: ”?”

He couldn’t help but ask: ”How long have you been without rest?”

Larry weakly replied: ”About four days.” During the procurement of ancient coins, he temporarily received several other tasks, almost without having rested.

Naoki: ”... Why don’t you rest at the ranch for a while?”

Larry shook his head: ”No, you focus on your tasks, don’t mind me, I’ll just sit here and enjoy the sun.”

As he said that, Larry sat on the grass, looking at the autumn-filled ranch, and those rare Pokemon, weakly sighing.

”This ranch is truly full of vitality, for ordinary people like me, your place is really stimulating.”

Naoki: ”...”

”Please wait a moment.” Seeing Larry in that condition, it seemed he hadn’t had a chance to drink a sip of water along the way.

Naoki turned and went to the living room to prepare a cup of spirit-restoring black tea for Larry.

However, when he returned, he saw Larry asleep on the soft grass.

Larry: zzZ!

Naoki: ”...”

Oh well, he decided not to disturb Larry, letting him rest well here!

Thus, Naoki picked up the bag of coins and headed straight to the Pokemon Tavern.

During the day, the Pokemon Tavern was closed, with no guests inside, only Gimmighoul present.

Naoki placed the Treasure Chest on the bar, then excitedly took out the last four Gold Coins from the backpack.

These are the last four coins!

Once accepted, Gimmighoul can evolve into Gholdengo!

At this moment, Gimmighoul also felt the imminent event about to occur.

With excitement all over its face, it looked at the coins in Naoki’s hand.

”Go ahead and take them!” Naoki put those four coins into Gimmighoul’s Treasure Chest.

The next second, Gimmighoul felt a powerful essence frantically flowing into its body.

”Ding!”

Gimmighoul couldn’t help but exclaim.

Soon, the thousand coins started to swirl, twisting around the small Gimmighoul.

The light of evolution exploded.

Unlike the light emanated during normal Pokemon evolution, Gimmighoul’s evolutionary light was dazzling gold!

This golden light instantly submerged both Gimmighoul and the Treasure Chest completely.

Naoki watched this scene with passionate eyes.

Truly deserving to rank number 1000 in the Pokedex, evolving with such panache?

At this moment, Naoki only regretted that smartphones had not yet been invented.

Otherwise, he would have recorded the entire process and shared it online proudly!

Because this Gholdengo might be one of a kind in this era.

The only one in the world!

As the golden light enveloping Gimmighoul disappeared, the once weak Gimmighoul was nowhere to be found, replaced by a brand new Pokemon about 1 meter 20 tall with a dazzling Gold body.

Gholdengo was born!

Naoki watched the Gholdengo before him with excited eyes.

Gholdengo lifted its head with longing, looking brightly at Naoki.

The next second, Gholdengo jumped high, hugging Naoki’s neck, its voice full of obvious warmth and affection.

”Ding~!”

Naoki immediately sensed Gholdengo’s sentiment, it was grateful for his help in collecting the coins needed for evolution.

”Very well!” Naoki repeated thrice: ”Congratulations, Gholdengo, let’s take care of each other from now!”

”Ding!”

Gholdengo happily nodded, indicating no problem.
