Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 733: Chapter 382: Geeta’s Grand Plan for Recruiting Talent

”Chief, did you know? What you said reminded me of a wish-granting Divine Dragon.”

Geeta seemed slightly surprised, ”Divine Dragon? Is it also a Pokemon?”

”Maybe!” Naoki said, ”It’s just a legend.”

On the screen, Geeta nodded slightly and continued, ”So, what kind of reward would you like?”

Naoki thought for a moment, then shook his head helplessly and said, ”To be honest, there’s nothing in particular that I need.”

He wasn’t short of money, and he didn’t need Pokemon breeding tools, since Teddiursa had brought back a bunch of them before. The ranch had everything.

Hearing this, Geeta nodded gently, appearing to be in thought:

”How about having the Paldea League build a professional Gym for you at the ranch? I heard that you often host Trainers passing by for challenges, and your ranch is quite famous near Paldea Academy.”

”If you had a Gym, it would make the work easier, just like Lono and Grusha.”

Naoki: ”...”

He knew it.

But if this thing got formalized, he would need to take it seriously, whether it was hosting challengers or communicating with the Paldea League. It would mean he couldn’t do things as he pleased.

So, Naoki shook his head and declined Geeta’s proposal, ”Never mind, it’s fine as it is now.”

”Alright then.” Geeta couldn’t help but look a bit disappointed. She continued, ”What about other rewards? If you can’t decide, I’ll prepare one for you according to the League’s rules.”

Naoki: ”...” So this reward must be given?

Geeta smiled slightly, ”Please take good care of the next Gym Leaders.”

Naoki understood; Geeta meant that there would be many more Gym Leaders coming to his ranch to participate in trials!

This time, he didn’t refuse. Considering the current situation of the ranch, Naoki curiously asked, ”Can I really ask for anything?”

Geeta nodded, ”As long as it’s something we can do.”

Naoki: ”Then I want no less than 1,000 Paldea Gold Coins.”

Hearing this, Geeta was momentarily stunned, ”Paldea Gold Coins?”

”Because not long ago, I captured a Gimmighoul, and I want to see exactly how many Gold Coins it will take to evolve it into Gholdengo.”

Gimmighoul and Gholdengo...

As the Champion of the Paldea League, Geeta naturally had heard of these two kinds of Pokemon, and she immediately understood Naoki’s intention.

”Okay.” Geeta agreed, ”We’ll try our best to prepare them for you, but I can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to collect that many coins.”

”It’s okay, anything is better than nothing, I’m collecting too.” Geeta was so generous that Naoki couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed.

Maybe he should agree to Geeta’s Gym certification and do something for her as well?

Just as Naoki was about to speak, Geeta had to hang up the call to attend to other matters.

Naoki swallowed his words.

Oh well, he would find another way to thank the Paldea League!

Just as Geeta hoped, he would seriously host the remaining Gym Leaders at the ranch, helping them grow through trials to become stronger.

Apart from this, he could also gift them some fruit wines that could enhance Poison resistance, Paralysis resistance, and Burn resistance as a token of appreciation.

After hanging up, Geeta immediately contacted Larry, an employee in the business department far away in Medali Town.

In Medali Town, Larry, who was having lunch inside the Treasure Eatery, took out his communicator from the pocket of his suit, and glanced wearily at the incoming call display.

”Time to start work again.”

Larry put down his chopsticks, picked up his briefcase, and left the Treasure Eatery.

On the way, he answered the call.

”Hello? Paldea Gold Coins... I see, I’ll go help gather them.”

On the other end, Geeta nodded in satisfaction, ”Moreover, once you’ve completed this task, the League will give you a week’s vacation. You should head over to Naoki Ranch to experience the rural scenery and have a good rest!”

It would also be a good opportunity to deliver the collected Paldea Gold Coins.

A week’s vacation...

Hearing these words, a spark of light flashed in Larry’s eyes.

People like them always cherished their vacations the most.

Thinking of this, even Larry’s tone began to fluctuate, ”Got it, I’ll start working on it right away.”

Geeta: ”Yes, go ahead, I’m counting on you!”

After hanging up, Geeta rubbed her temples while sitting in her chair.

A moment later, she dialed the phone of the Glaseado Gym.

Soon, Grusha’s voice came over the phone.

Geeta asked, ”When you visited the ranch, did you notice anything that Naoki likes?”

Paldea Gold Coins were collected by Naoki to evolve Gimmighoul, not exactly a reward he personally enjoyed.

Apart from those rewards, Geeta planned to send Naoki a gift in her own name.

This was not only to thank Naoki but also to gain his favor and prevent such talent from being poached by another region’s Pokemon League.

Even though Geeta was busy, she’d heard about Naoki’s close ties with Galar’s Champion Leon and Unova’s Champion Alder.

If those two were to lure Naoki away, that would be troublesome.

On the other end, Grusha was momentarily stunned, then realized what the Chief was saying.

”Things Naoki likes... does Pokemon count?” Grusha pondered for a moment.

”Pokemon?” Geeta wasn’t surprised at this response, as everyone loved Pokemon, especially rare ones.

Grusha agreed, and slowly spoke, ”Eevee, Naoki really likes Eevee. That day, both Lono and I saw two Eevees at his ranch.”

”At the time, Naoki told us his dream was to collect all types of Eevee and create an Eevee Paradise at the ranch.”

”Eevee...” Getting the answer, Geeta smiled, ”I see, thank you very much for the information, Grusha.”

Grusha: ”... You’re welcome, Chief.”

Once the call ended, Geeta stood up, preparing to visit the Pokemon Breeding Center of the Paldea League.

This place is specifically used by the Paldea League for Pokemon breeding.

Various Pokemon lived there, playing and laying eggs together.

Once hatched, these eggs would be taught specifically and then sent to ten-year-old children far and wide to be looked after.

This ensured a continuous cycle of Trainers in the Paldea League.

Coincidentally, the breeding center also had Eevee Pokemon.

However, upon arriving there via Squawkabilly Flying Taxi, Geeta learned from the Pokemon caretaker that the Eevee Eggs hadn’t hatched yet.

Seeing the Chief standing and pondering over the Eevee Eggs, a nearby caretaker cautiously said:

”The hatching trial for these eggs is still over half a month away. If you’re not in a hurry, you can wait a bit longer.”

Geeta wasn’t in a rush, but she thought of something.

It’s that Pokemon hatched from eggs would become especially close to the first human they see.

Thinking of this, Geeta made up her mind, ”Leave these eggs to me! I’ll take them to a Trainer who can take good care of them.”

”Y-yes!” the caretaker beside her instinctively nodded and started placing the eggs into special egg pouches.

Then, loading these eggs onto the Squawkabilly Flying Taxi.

Geeta initially thought of calling Larry and Rika over to deliver the eggs, but when she took out her communicator, she remembered she had dispatched them for other tasks.

So, Geeta opted to call someone else instead.

Soon, the call connected.

Geeta smiled and said, ”Hello, Hassel, do you have time? I need your help with something at the League Headquarters.”
