Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 539: Chapter 309: Leon: So All I Defeated Were Dairy Goats?

The third battle officially begins!

The grassy field remains unchanged, and Charizard spreads its wings, hovering in mid-air.

This time, Naoki took the initiative to attack first.

”Razor Leaf!”

Gogoat’s power activated, and countless leaves flew like blades towards Charizard.

Charizard flapped its wings, rapidly gathering Fire Type Energy from its body, and crimson sparks formed a Heat Wave in the airflow.

The two moves collided in mid-air. The Champion-level strength of Charizard made its Fire Type Energy incredibly strong, and in a blink of an eye, the Razor Leaf was consumed by the Heat Wave, ignited by flames, and fluttered down to the ground like butterflies.

”Indeed! Charizard’s type advantage is truly unbeatable! Unless Gogoat learns Rock Slide, a move with four times the effectiveness could inflict heavy damage on Charizard,” Naoki muttered.

Unfortunately, Gogoat hasn’t learned Rock Slide yet.

If that’s the case, let’s switch to a move of another type!

Naoki steadied his mind, and at this moment, Leon also issued a command, as both voices sounded almost simultaneously.

”Gogoat, Double-Edge!”

”Charizard, Flamethrower!”

As soon as the words fell, the two Pokemon on the field moved simultaneously.

Gogoat locked its gaze on Charizard and charged straight towards it.

Charizard opened its mouth wide, flames surged within, finally turning into a blazing fire that swept towards Gogoat.

It breathed fire while flying, causing Gogoat’s charge to miss while Charizard remained unharmed.

The Flamethrower inflicted significant damage on Gogoat.

Immediately, countless rays of green light emerged on the grassy terrain below, streaming towards Gogoat’s body to heal its injuries.

Seeing this, Leon quickly said, ”Don’t give it a chance to recover, Air Blade!”

Naoki: ”Use Vine Whip to block!”

Gogoat immediately deployed two thick vine whips to block.

Charizard flapped its wings, and the milky-white airflow formed a wind blade that severed the thick vine whips in front of it, successfully hitting Gogoat.

Gogoat was knocked to the ground, losing the ability to battle.

Naoki: ”...”

It seems that today the first person to pass the Grass Trial will be born.

The final battle, the third Gogoat vs Charizard.

Leon seemed to have found a solution to dealing with Gogoat. This time, he directly let Charizard use Defog, eliminating the Grassy Terrain released by Gogoat.

Naoki attempted to attack with a sure-hit combo move of Aerial Ace + Grass Sacred Sword, but unfortunately, not only did it fail to render Charizard unable to battle, it activated its Blaze Attribute.

Then, one Flare Blitz ended the battle.

Looking at the fallen Gogoat, Naoki had a new judgment about their strength.

— Barely able to reach Champion Level, but facing an opponent with the same strength that has a type advantage, even Grassy Terrain cannot exert much effect.

Just like Leon’s Charizard.

However, it’s already quite good, at least the Gogoat defeated Leon’s Haxorus and Dragapult.

They didn’t lose in terms of strength, but because of type matchups.

If there’s one Rock Slide move, perhaps today’s result could be different.

Naoki began to ponder how he could help Gogoat comprehend the move Rock Slide.

Naoki’s mind was filled with thoughts, and then he looked up at Leon across the field: ”Congratulations, you successfully passed the Grass Trial.”

Leon grinned broadly, his smile very candid: ”Battling with your Pokemon, whether in mood or moves, was very thrilling! I had a super fun time!”

”I was happy too.” Naoki admired internally, truly worthy of being the strongest Champion, and it seemed today was also his first official Pokemon battle.

Facing such an excellent Trainer, Leon felt very satisfied, though regrettably failed to battle Koraidon and Calyrex.

”Looks like there’s only next time.” Leon thought.

At this moment, Indeedee, who had been waiting by the side for a long time, came forward with several cups of Life Sheep Milk.

Naoki reached out to take them, feeding them to Gogoat, while patting their heads: ”You’ve worked hard today!”

After losing the battle, Gogoat’s face looked a bit gloomy.

Seeing this, Naoki comforted them: ”It’s okay, it’s just a match. Keep trying in the future, and I’ll do my best to help you too.”

For example, learning Rock Slide to target Leon’s Charizard, under four times effectiveness, maybe one move could defeat Charizard.

Gogoat’s mood improved somewhat at this.

”Alright, go play!” Naoki patted their heads.

Gogoat finally hopped happily away.

Then Naoki looked at Leon and said, ”Release all your Pokemon!”

Leon was a bit surprised but still released the weakened Haxorus and Dragapult from their Poke Balls.

Naoki stepped forward to feed them Life Sheep Milk.

The next second, a magical scene unfolded.

After drinking the milk, their injuries immediately began to heal rapidly, visible to the naked eye, and their spirits returned to their original condition.

Witnessing this, Leon displayed shock, looking incredulously at the completely restored two Pokemon and the remaining two bottles of white liquid resembling milk:

”What is that stuff? It has such exaggerated healing effects!”

”It’s sheep milk,” Naoki replied.

”Sheep milk?”

Naoki nodded, smiling as he explained: ”It’s the milk produced by the Gogoat, they usually work as dairy goats in the ranch, and the milk they produce is sold to the town and other places.”

Upon hearing this, Leon’s first reaction wasn’t shock, but a slight existential doubt.

Leon: ???

Did he just spend all that effort to defeat three milk-producing goats?

Then how strong would the other Pokemon here be?

Leon reflexively turned his head to look at Koraidon.

At this moment, Naoki stood up and said to Leon: ”Alright, since you’ve already passed the Grass Trial, although today’s trial content was different from usual, as the first Trainer to pass the trial, you can choose a magical fruit wine to feed to your Pokemon.”

Leon instinctively asked: ”Different? What is the normal Grass Trial like?”

”Under normal circumstances, the Grass Trial consists of three rounds, the first round, battling a single Gogoat, the second round, battling two Gogoat simultaneously, and the third round battling three.”

Naoki was determined to help Gogoat learn Rock Slide to target Leon’s Charizard, so he turned his head to Leon:

”Though this time you won, next time might not be the same!”

Leon was slightly startled, then understood Naoki’s meaning.

He chuckled and said: ”Next time, bring your hundred percent strength to battle with me!”

Naoki: ”?”

Leon explained: ”I want to battle your main Pokemon.”

Saying this, he looked suggestively at Koraidon and Dragonite nearby.

Naoki couldn’t help but laugh: ”Sure!” He found Leon quite interesting.

Traveling from afar to the Paldea Region for a battle with him.

Upon seeing Naoki agree, Leon was very pleased, he began to ponder:

”I wonder how far the Galar Region is from the Paldea Region?”

Hearing this, Naoki turned his head to look over.

Leon awkwardly explained: ”Because I’m directionally challenged, I might not be able to smoothly get here from Galar, if I get lost, you must guide me!”
