Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 536: Chapter 307: Leon Challenges the Grass Trial (4000) (Part 2)

”Excuse me!” Leon said.

The two walked into the house, and the Pokémon who had been playing in the ranch came up curiously, hiding behind the sofa and watching the visitor who had come from afar.

Leon looked at the Pokémon on the other end of the sofa who was watching TV, thinking, ”Calyrex is indeed Naoki’s Pokémon!”

”Indeedee!” Seeing guests arriving, the younger sister Indeedee brought two cups of tea and placed them in front of Naoki and Leon.

Leon took a sip before getting to the main point: ”I was at the Nova Tournament too, I watched your match, that Koraidon is truly an impressive Pokémon!”

Naoki glanced at Koraidon beside him with a smile and nodded, saying, ”Koraidon is indeed very reliable.”

Koraidon was very pleased: ”Aga-sii~”

Leon said seriously, ”After you withdrew midway, I defeated everyone else and won the championship, but I didn’t get to battle you, which I find quite regrettable.”

As a Champion-level Trainer, Leon could clearly sense the powerful aura emanating from both Koraidon and Calyrex.

This aura was not inferior to his mentor Mustard, and as their Trainer, Naoki must also be a formidable presence.

Having never tasted defeat for many years, Leon was eager to battle stronger Trainers to hone his skills.

”So, I’ve come to continue the unfinished match with you!”

Naoki: ”...”

Does Leon have a bit of an obsession?

At this moment, he wanted to say he wasn’t a Trainer, just a Rancher, but he feared Leon wouldn’t find that believable.

Besides, when it comes to battles, he had never commanded Pokémon in real life, and compared to Leon’s command experience, he was far behind.

Moreover, the Pokémon in the ranch varied in strength, and it wasn’t guaranteed he could gather six Champion-level ones to battle Leon.

Naoki remained silent, and Leon felt a bit nervous inside.

Could it be that the other party was unwilling to have a Pokémon battle with him?

It wasn’t that Naoki didn’t want to; he was quite curious to see how far Gogoat had grown.

After all, with the World Tree and goat’s milk, Pokémon could recover instantly from any injury.

In that case, let Gogoat spar with this strongest Champion’s Pokémon!

With this thought, Naoki made up his mind.

He nodded to Leon and said, ”Of course, but I can’t gather six Pokémon, so let’s have a 3v3 battle!”

Three Gogoat vs. Leon.

3v3?

Leon, who thought the other would refuse, was relieved: ”Alright! Let’s start now!”

”Follow me!”

Naoki got up and led the way. They walked out of the house to an open grassy field, where Naoki had specifically built a battle arena for the Grass Trial.

Seeing Naoki preparing for a battle, all the Pokémon on the ranch curiously gathered around the battle field to watch.

Naoki called over three Gogoat, looked at Leon with a Poke Ball in hand, and said:

”To be honest, besides being a Rancher, I’m also a chef who specializes in culinary research. The dishes I create have some magical powers—like Berries that can detoxify Pokémon.”

Upon hearing this, Leon looked puzzled: ”What do you mean?”

Naoki smiled slightly: ”Not long ago, I set up several Trials on the ranch, and Trainers who pass these Trials receive rewards in the form of those magical dishes.”

”For instance, fruit wine that increases Poison Type resistance and reduces Poison Type damage, fruit wine that enhances Paralysis Resistance, and gourmet dishes that have a chance to help Pokémon learn new Moves.”

Hearing this, Leon’s eyes widened.

Trials? Cuisine?

He was more intrigued by the cuisine than the Trials.

Is there really such a thing in this world? No! To be accurate, can cuisine really have such miraculous effects?

Seeing Leon’s astonished expression, Naoki continued: ”And what’s about to start next is the most famous Grass Trial on the ranch—a battle against my three Gogoat, and upon defeating us, I will gift you one of these fruit wines as a reward.”

He usually never personally directs Gogoat battles, letting Gogoat battle on their own.

But today’s opponent is Leon, so they are giving it their all.

Although his command skills are not up to Leon’s, based on past experiences in games, he can provide some guidance to Gogoat during the battle.

”Grass Trial, huh?” Hearing this, Leon became interested, looking up at the three robustly bred Gogoat behind Naoki: ”This should indeed be exciting!”

Here, he was not a Champion but a challenger; he was going to challenge this Grass Trial to make himself stronger!

”There is no Dynamax in the Paldea Region, I wonder if you can handle it.”

As Naoki spoke, one of the Gogoat stepped forward and entered the battle arena, eyes full of fighting spirit staring at the human opposite.

Leon tossed the Poke Ball in his hand: ”That’s fine, without Dynamax, let’s have an authentic Pokémon battle! Here we go, Haxorus!”

With a flash of white light, a Dragon-type Pokémon covered in tough armor with huge jaw-axes appeared opposite the Gogoat.

Seeing the two ready, the younger sister Indeedee took a step forward and blew the whistle around her neck.

”Whistle—

The crisp and melodious sound signified the official start of the match.

The next second, a large amount of Grass Energy surged from Gogoat’s body, forming a dense Grassy Terrain almost instantaneously.

The green glow overflowed the entire battlefield, and the vast energy formed small grasses glowing with a faint green light, gently swaying in the energy ripples.

”Grassy Terrain?” Leon was slightly amazed, the speed of execution was fast! Almost instantaneous!

But compared to the Grass Type Gogoat, his Haxorus had a better move set advantage!

”Poison Jab!”

With a command, Haxorus charged towards Gogoat, a layer of purple glow appeared on its claws, filled with Poison Type energy.

Faced with this attack, Gogoat showed no sign of panic.

It stood calmly on the spot, and the next moment, two massive, serpentine Vine Whips shot out from its body, carrying a sharp sound of breaking through the air, heading towards the charging Haxorus.

The Vine Whip swept through, Haxorus’ eyes remained calm, and with a sidestep, it dodged the attack.

However, in the next second, another Vine Whip swiftly whistled its way over, this time Haxorus couldn’t dodge and was hit by the Vine Whip.

The immense impact instantly sent Haxorus flying,

”So strong!” Leon’s face was shocked, those were Vine Whips? He had never seen a Pokémon use Vine Whips like that!

But now was not the time to think about it, that obviously powerful Vine Whip hit Haxorus, and Haxorus seemed stunned by the strike and couldn’t stand up immediately.

”Haxorus, hang in there!” Leon quickly reminded.

Meanwhile, Naoki, who had been calmly observing the situation, finally gave an order: ”Use your best move!”

”Meeh!”

Upon hearing that, a flash of determination shone in Gogoat’s eyes. It crouched slightly, eyes locked onto Haxorus, who was attempting to rise.

Its body turned into a white light, rushing towards Haxorus.

”Quick, dodge it!” Leon keenly sensed the danger.

However, Gogoat had already locked onto Haxorus, and during the charge, a terrifying surge of Grass Type Energy emerged from its mouth.

Then, the Grass Type Energy turned into a massive Grass Sacred Sword, held in Gogoat’s mouth.

Seeing this, Leon’s pupils contracted.

What move is this?!

The Aerial Ace + Grass Sacred Sword combo was successful. Gogoat held the leaf blade in its mouth, slicing straight past Haxorus, and then in a stylish move, stopped with its back to Haxorus, without looking back.

Haxorus, who had just risen, stood motionless in place.

In the next second, it fell to its knees on the grass with a thud.
