Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 511: Chapter 294: Longevity (Part 3)

Today is the weekend, the Pokemon Tavern is closed, so after dinner, Naoki sat on the sofa with a group of Pokemon.

He turned on the TV and tuned in to the Paldea news channel.

After a few inconsequential appetizers, the screen finally switched to images from Porto Marinada Town.

A female reporter holding a microphone faced the camera, introducing the audience to the forest fire situation that happened earlier.

”... It’s been five months since that heartbreaking disaster on January 22nd. I’m sure the viewers at home are curious about the fate of the Pokemon who survived the forest fire, so today I’ll take you through the recovery situation here.”

On TV, the female reporter took out a red-and-white Pokeball, releasing a Kilowattrel, then rode on its back, flying toward the back mountain.

As the Kilowattrel flew, the back mountain that had once experienced a forest fire finally appeared before all the viewers.

However... it looked somewhat different from what they imagined.

At this moment, seeing the lush, vibrant mountain forest full of tall, robust trees and thriving dense bushes, all the viewers watching the news showed expressions of surprise.

”What’s going on? Wasn’t this area completely burned by the fire? Why does it look like this now?”

”It’s so strange, shouldn’t the growth of the trees take more time?”

”What exactly is happening?”

While the audience was puzzled, the female reporter descended slowly on the Kilowattrel at the mountain’s foot.

At this moment, a wild Oddish walked past the camera from the bushes.

Seeing this scene, the female reporter smiled and said, ”It seems like the recovery here is pretty good!”

”I’m sure everyone is curious about how, despite such a terrible fire happening in this place, it’s as if nothing happened now.”

”That’s right,” viewers at home nodded.

The female reporter didn’t keep them in suspense.

She walked slowly up the newly constructed mountain path, explaining as she went:

”The reason this has happened is because on the day the Paldea League sent people over to rebuild the forest,

a legendary Pokemon with a compassionate heart arrived. Unable to bear seeing such a tragic situation, it used its mighty power to rejuvenate the back mountain, restoring the forest to its original state.”

”H-How is that possible?” People showed expressions of shock.

To restore the entire forest to its original appearance, what kind of Pokemon could possibly accomplish such a feat?

On the screen, the female reporter continued: ”It’s truly incredible. There’s even a legend circulating around Porto Marinada Town about that Pokemon!”

”Some say it is the King of Bountiful Harvests, who blesses the crops planted by the farmers with great yields. Others say it was a king from ancient times with a compassionate heart who healed wounded Pokemon.”

”Mysterious, isn’t it? I was also shocked when I first heard of it! But it’s said that there were many witnesses when that Pokemon performed the miracle, including our chief Champion!”

”With that in mind, I’m sure everyone’s curious about that Pokemon.”

At this point, the female reporter reached the end of the mountain path. She passed through the torii gate and arrived in front of a brand-new shrine.

The shrine housed a statue of a Pokemon.

The Pokemon on the statue had a gentle expression and a kindly smile on its face.

Looking at the shrine, the female reporter spoke softly: ”Ah! This is the Pokemon that restored the forest’s original appearance! It is called Calyrex, also known as the King of Bountiful Harvests in the legends that circulate around Porto Marinada Town. Doesn’t it seem friendly?”

The camera gently moved through the female reporter, coming straight to the front of the shrine, capturing a close-up of the statue inside.

The statue of Calyrex faced the center of the screen, a smile on its face, as if it was smiling at the vast people of Paldea.
