Urban Martial Saint

”This task might not be easy to complete.” Ye Qing said gravely, ”Since you know about the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance and the Twelve Green Halls, you should also know there are many experts among them. Even with my skills, an entire battalion wouldn’t be able to stop them!”

”I understand. Your main task is to prevent anyone from entering Heaven’s Gate. Of course, if you really can’t stop them, you can tell us who managed to enter Heaven’s Gate!” Su Kaicheng paused and said solemnly, ”For the sake of national security, sacrifices sometimes have to be made!”

Ye Qing understood what Su Kaicheng meant. For the sake of national security, anyone entering Heaven’s Gate must be exterminated. Only by eliminating those entering Heaven’s Gate can foreign forces be prevented from exploiting them to create chaos.

”That’s not a problem at all.” Ye Qing nodded. Since he was already involved in this matter, there was no turning back. Tackling this additional request from Su Kaicheng would not overwhelm him. Of course, the premise was that Ye Qing had to be alive to witness any comings and goings through the Heaven, Earth, and Man Gates; otherwise, how could he stop and report them?

”Very good!” Su Kaicheng nodded with satisfaction and said, ”By the way, your most critical task is to prevent anyone from entering Heaven’s Gate. If you absolutely can’t stop them, report back to us. The secondary task is to prevent foreign forces from entering the Earth Gate and the Human Gate. After all, these people don’t harbor good intentions toward our country. If they were to obtain such wealth or become masters in a particular field, it wouldn’t be beneficial for our nation.”

”No problem!” Ye Qing nodded again. It’s not just him; even the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance and the Twelve Green Halls would never allow foreign forces to enter these three gates. This task was actually quite feasible.

Su Kaicheng then explained the specific details of the task to Ye Qing, clarifying the earlier points, but in more detail. He also clarified the use of the badge, making Ye Qing understand its purpose once more.

The plan from the State Security Department, although driven by them, was fully supported by several domestic key leaders. Even though the conflict was on the Uzbek side, it shared a border, and nobody wanted the flames of war to erupt in their neighbor’s land. Thus, Ye Qing became the leader of the Dragon Slayer Squad, endowed with significant power, all granted by these key figures. These powers were primarily embodied in that badge.

Currently, with that badge, Ye Qing could say that he had the equivalent of a treasured sword from ancient times, with authority over one level of officials. According to Su Kaicheng, Ye Qing could even override any power and rule in crucial moments with that badge. After all, national security was of utmost importance!

Overriding any power, what does that mean exactly? Simply put, even at the Dong Province Police Department, in critical moments, Ye Qing’s word would carry more weight than Director Liu Changping’s. That was the badge’s highest authority.

It seemed the nation was very serious about this plan, or why else would it give Ye Qing such immense power?

Holding that badge, Ye Qing felt no excitement or thrill; instead, he felt immense pressure. Initially, the impending opening of the Heaven, Earth, and Man Gates already gave him considerable pressure. Now, with an additional task concerning national security, how could Ye Qing not feel stressed?

After Su Kaicheng explained the task to Ye Qing, he did not stay in Shenchuan City; by evening, he left with the deputy minister and their entourage. Li Gong was left behind, mainly to be in charge of the design and construction of the orphanage.

Li Gong had extensive experience in this area, handling all design matters, requiring no others to worry about. According to Su Kaicheng’s estimate, once Li Gong finished drafting the design, the funds from the Ministry of Finance were expected to arrive, and the land procedures in Shenchuan City had been completed. Everything would be ready. So, after the New Year, construction on the orphanage could begin anew. This time, the orphanage would be much larger than the one Ye Qing had previously built, sparing him the worry about not having a place for the children to stay.

After seeing off Su Kaicheng and the others, Ye Qing returned to his office and saw Lin Mengjie standing at the door. Seeing Ye Qing approaching, Lin Mengjie’s face showed a flash of joy as she hurried over to greet him.

Lin Mengjie had been helping Ye Qing for quite some time. Honestly, without Lin Mengjie, Ye Qing wouldn’t have the scale in Shenchuan City that he had now. So, he was very grateful to her.

”Ye, you’re back.” Lin Mengjie walked up to Ye Qing and said with a smile, ”I’ve been waiting for you here for a long time.”

”Sorry, I was just seeing off the leaders from the Capital.” Ye Qing apologized, ”Mengjie, is there something you need from me?”

”It’s about Fifth Brother.” Lin Mengjie followed Ye Qing into the office and said, ”This morning, Jing told me that you want to finance Fifth Brother’s continuation of the New District project. I called Fifth Brother and told him about it. He’s very pleased and asked me to thank you on his behalf!”

Ye Qing smiled lightly and said, ”No need to be formal. It’s the least I could do, considering how much Boss Yang has helped me in the past.”

”The help Fifth Brother gave you was minor. This time, Ye, you helped Fifth Brother with a big favor, a thank you is warranted!” Lin Mengjie paused and said, ”Moreover, there’s another matter that Fifth Brother wants me to discuss with you.”

”What is it?” Ye Qing asked curiously.

Lin Mengjie said, ”Ye, you know about the New District project in Jiuchuan County, right? This project has always been handled by Fifth Brother. But the construction of the New District is not an easy matter. Fifth Brother is currently facing financial difficulties, and although your assistance has temporarily held things together, Fifth Brother realized he couldn’t handle such a large project on his own after this ordeal. So, he wants to find a partner to collaborate on this New District project. I’m wondering if you are interested in this project?”

Ye Qing fell silent for a moment and then said, ”Mengjie, you know I don’t understand construction at all, and I have no investment experience in this area. I really wouldn’t know how to proceed with such a large project, so I’m afraid I can’t collaborate with Boss Yang on this one.”

Lin Mengjie looked somewhat disappointed, nodded slowly, and said, ”I understand your situation, Ye. In that case, I’ll talk to Fifth Brother and have him look for another partner. After all, making sure the project is profitable isn’t an issue; finding a partner shouldn’t be a problem either. The most crucial thing is finding someone capable of managing such a large project and someone Fifth Brother can absolutely trust, which isn’t easy!”

Ye Qing thought for a moment and suddenly said, ”Maybe I can find a partner for Boss Yang!”

”Oh?” Lin Mengjie instantly became eager, looking at Ye Qing with anticipation, ”Ye, can you really find a partner? Who are you referring to?”

Ye Qing smiled faintly and said, ”How about the Lin Corporation?”

”The Lin Corporation!?” A flash of excitement appeared in Lin Mengjie’s eyes. She certainly knew about the Lin Corporation. It was the largest corporation in Shenchuan City, and one of the top-ranked corporations nationally, primarily focused on real estate development. In recent years, it had expanded its business outside of Shenchuan City, with properties across the country, growing larger and larger. The Lin Corporation was fully capable of taking on the New District project in Jiuchuan County. Moreover, as a large corporation, its chairman, Lin Zhen Nan, had impeccable credibility, making him an absolutely reliable partner, which made it an ideal collaborator.

”Would they... would they be willing to take this project?” Lin Mengjie asked with some concern, ”Ye, you know our area is quite small. With projects like this, the Lin Corporation can easily acquire them; they might not come to our area.”

”In business, the key is to make a profit,” Ye Qing laughed. ”As long as this project is profitable, it doesn’t matter where it’s done. You don’t need to worry about that. Tomorrow, I’ll speak with someone from the Lin Corporation and have them assess the project. If it’s profitable, they will certainly work with Boss Yang!”

”There’s definitely profit in it!” Lin Mengjie immediately said.

”Then you don’t have to worry,” Ye Qing smiled and said, ”Since this has been settled, you don’t need to rush back. It’s almost New Year, and there are many properties in Shenchuan City that need your management. If you leave, what am I going to do?”

Hearing this, Lin Mengjie couldn’t help but smile charmingly and said, ”Ye, only now do you realize how important I am?”

”What do you mean? I’ve always said you’re important!” Ye Qing laughed, ”Next time I go back, I’ll have to talk to Boss Yang about keeping you here with me. Otherwise, how will I manage my business?”

”You want to keep me here just to work for you?” Lin Mengjie pouted, ”Are you treating me like a laborer?”

”No, no, I didn’t mean that!” Ye Qing quickly waved his hands, smiling, ”With you here, I treat you like a treasure, afraid you might leave!”

Lin Mengjie burst into laughter and said, ”Alright, Ye, stop teasing me. About Fifth Brother’s matter, do give it some thought so I can respond to him. By the way, those fifty people left today. Ye, you were really generous, giving them so much money at once. They’re all going back home excited, talking about building or buying houses. I think they’ll likely come looking for you again next year; Fifth Brother’s money probably won’t retain them!”
