Urban Martial Saint

Seeing Ye Qing’s expression, Su Kaicheng knew Ye Qing’s thoughts and smiled slightly, saying, ”Ye Zi, don’t get excited, listen to Li Gong explain it to you carefully.”

Ye Qing didn’t say anything further, he knew that Su Kaicheng definitely wouldn’t trick him.

Li Gong spread the blueprint flat, pointed to the buildings on it, and said, ”Mr. Ye, these are your orphanage’s buildings. According to national construction standards, these buildings do not meet the criteria.”

”No way,” Ye Qingqi said in surprise, ”I had someone specifically evaluate them, there are no issues with quality or safety.”

These buildings were supervised and built at Ye Qing’s place by Da Fei. As logic goes, no one would dare cut corners at Ye Qing’s project.

”Quality and safety indeed have no issues, but the biggest problem isn’t with quality and safety,” Li Gong drew a line between two buildings with a pen and said, ”It’s with the spacing between buildings, which is overly dense and doesn’t comply with building distance regulations. Moreover, such spacing affects light conditions in the orphanage, which isn’t suitable for children’s health.”

Ye Qing widened his eyes; Engineer Li indeed sees much more than Ye Qing. But the issue is, Ye Qing didn’t want to make the building distance so small, yet with just this piece of land, where else could he build?

Ye Qing remained silent, knowing that if these people pointed out these issues, they’d be resolved.

Sure enough, after Li Gong explained the reasons why the buildings must be demolished, he used a red pen to draw a larger circle on the blueprint, including all the land surrounding the orphanage.

”To build a modern and adequately sized orphanage, this land must be incorporated into the orphanage,” Li Gong stated.

Hearing this, Ye Qing felt a sudden thud in his heart. The land surrounding the orphanage had always remained undeveloped due to its complex involvement and differing land-use types, making it impossible for Ye Qing to purchase them. This land had remained idle all this time. All combined, it could expand Ye Qing’s orphanage by more than five times.

Now there’s talk of incorporating this land into the orphanage; if they handle it, it’s far easier than if Ye Qing managed it, given the orphanage is a state project, necessitating support from all sides.

Hearing Li Gong, the deputy minister promptly nodded and said, ”I’ll communicate with the local authorities on this point, there won’t be any issues. Take another look, and if this land isn’t enough, it can be expanded further, which is negotiable.”

Ye Qing’s mouth opened wide with surprise, how did a matter he worried about so much just get resolved like this?

He glanced at Su Kaicheng next to him, who was smiling. It seemed Su Kaicheng knew all along. Meanwhile, old principal Wu Yian was smiling even wider on the side; he worried about this issue more than Ye Qing did. Now, the problem was solved with a single sentence; how could he not be happy?

”This land should be sufficient, but to cover future expansion, I think some extra space should be left for the orphanage,” Li Gong spoke as he expanded the circle on the blueprint, ”preferably this big.”

”No problem, I’ll communicate with the local authorities,” the deputy minister nodded directly.

The second circle drawn by Li Gong was vast enough to encompass the entire blueprint. According to this range, Ye Qing’s orphanage area increased by more than fifteen times. The scale of state projects is undoubtedly generous and efficient!

”But with such an extensive land for construction, how much will this cost?” Wu Yian asked, slightly worried.

”Hahaha...” The individuals from the Capital laughed immediately, Su Kaicheng chuckled, saying, ”Old principal, don’t worry, the Ministry of Finance will allocate special funds for these constructions.”

The words dispelled Wu Yian’s worries instantly; with the state fundings, there was no need to worry about the orphanage’s buildings, no matter how well constructed.

Ye Qing slightly furrowed his brow, whispered after a moment of silence, ”If it’s done this way, does this still qualify as a private orphanage?”

”Of course!” Su Kaicheng responded, ”Your private orphanage is the first in the country, also a precedent, which is why it’s receiving so much support. Also, while land and buildings have special government funding, children’s daily expenses still largely fall under your responsibility, or how else can it be considered a private orphanage. Therefore, you still hold the real decision-making power for the orphanage. Rest assured, more charitable donations can also be directed to the orphanage to alleviate your pressure.”

Hearing this, Ye Qing was relieved. He established the private orphanage fearing that children in state-run orphanages are used as profit tools or bullied. He worried that with so much state money involved, someone would be sent to manage the orphanage. Now, assured that he personally manages it, Ye Qing felt at ease, only trusting his own people; he would be anxious if someone else were in charge.

Accompanied by Wu Yian, Ye Qing and others walked a complete circle around the expanded orphanage area. After circling, everyone was exhausted given the vastness of the expanded orphanage area.

Li Gong modified his blueprint along the way, readjusting the orphanage buildings based on terrain and positions. By the end, he had essentially completed the orphanage construction sketch and shared it with everyone, who found it highly satisfactory, especially Ye Qing and Wu Yian. Li Gong, worthy of being a national-level engineer, produced a design far exceeding Ye Qing and their previous ordinary designs. If the orphanage is built according to Li Gong’s design, it would undoubtedly be beautiful and magnificent!

Ye Qing initially thought the visitors were here for a field survey, then symbolically allocate some funds. He didn’t anticipate the state would offer him such favorable terms, building an orphanage of such scale; this certainly surprised Ye Qing immensely. Nevertheless, he was happy, relieved from worrying about orphanage expansion. With state support, the children’s lives would certainly not have any issues. Even if his funding faces issues, the children would never go hungry, which was Ye Qing’s biggest relief.

After a full circle, it was already noon. Though Ye Qing intended to host these individuals, people from the city were already there, waiting to escort them to a city-hosted lunch after noon.

Ye Qing happened to accompany them, aligning with the deputy minister’s intent to utilize the city-hosted luncheon opportunity to negotiate orphanage expansion with the city, aiming to expedite the confirmation here.

The individuals from the Capital were indeed efficient, surpassing city folks in speed. Matters spoken of in the morning were progressed by noon, further exciting Ye Qing. Joining Su Kaicheng and others to head to the city, the primary city leaders gathered, all hosted for the deputy minister. Actually, few understand Su Kaicheng’s identity, but being from the Capital, city leaders were courteous to everyone.

When the deputy minister proposed orphanage expansion, the city undoubtedly supported it comprehensively, considering Ye Qing’s orphanage now constitutes a state project; no one would deter the construction of state projects.

With these city leaders’ agreement, the matter was essentially confirmed, followed by procedural matters. If Ye Qing had to handle these himself, they’d be cumbersome. Now, under the Capital’s oversight, procedures would be convenient, confidently promising completion by the city’s vice mayor in charge of land, which delighted Ye Qing greatly.

Referring to completion by year-end, Ye Qing’s orphanage could fully expand, which was certainly a joyous event.

Seeing the city’s strong backing satisfied the deputy minister, and the lunch went smoothly. After, the deputy minister and his team headed to their rooms arranged by the city for a brief rest, while Su Kaicheng accompanied Ye Qing to Tian Sheng. From the looks of it, Su Kaicheng seemed to have something to discuss with Ye Qing.

Ye Qing took Su Kaicheng back to his office, asking others to leave first, then looked at Su Kaicheng and said, ”Elder Brother Su, you didn’t come to Shenchuan City just for the orphanage affair, did you?”

Su Kaicheng smiled, said, ”Your eyes are quite sharp, my concealment was impeccable, yet you noticed I have other matters.”

Ye Qing also smiled and said, ”Elder Brother Su, whatever the matter, speak freely. If I can help, I absolutely will.”

Hearing this, Su Kaicheng nodded slowly, walked to the door to look outside, ensuring no one was around, then walked to Ye Qing and said solemnly, ”Ye Zi, what I’m about to tell you is very important and highly confidential. These matters must not reach outsiders!”

Seeing Su Kaicheng’s serious demeanor, Ye Qing grew tense. What could be so serious?

”Elder Brother Su, tell me,” Ye Qing said seriously, ”I’ll definitely keep it confidential!”

”That’s good!” Su Kaicheng nodded, then looked at Ye Qing and said, ”First, I must ask you a question, the same one my dad asked you last time, which you should recall.”

Su Kaicheng paused, then asked seriously, ”Ye Qing, do you still want to be a soldier?”

Ye Qing was taken aback; Su Guoxuan asked him this same question before, why is Su Kaicheng asking again, what’s going on?
