Urban Martial Saint

Ye Qing pondered for a while and said, ”Elder Brother Su, let me be honest with you. If it weren’t for my brother’s issue, I would still be in the army now. I really like the military life. However, as you can see, I’m here in Shenchuan City now and have too many concerns. It’s impossible to give up everything and return to the army again. So, when you ask this question, I really don’t know how to answer!”

Su Kaicheng smiled faintly and said, ”I knew you’d answer like this. Actually, I understand your situation. Since I brought up this matter with you, it means I’ve already thought about it for you. If you really want to continue being a soldier, you don’t necessarily have to join the army again. You can stay here in Shenchuan City.”

Su Guoxuan had mentioned this to Ye Qing before, but Ye Qing didn’t understand what it was about at the time. Now that Su Kaicheng brought it up again, Ye Qing was even more curious. Why did this father and son want him to be a soldier?

After a moment of silence, Ye Qing asked, ”Elder Brother Su, is there something you want me to do?”

Su Kaicheng sighed deeply, nodded slowly, and said, ”Indeed, there is something I want you to do.”

”Whatever it is, just say it. Whether or not I am a soldier doesn’t make much difference, right?” Ye Qing wondered.

”It’s not just that,” Su Kaicheng shook his head and said, ”This matter is of great importance and extremely classified, one could say it’s a very difficult and crucial task that must be executed by soldiers who are highly loyal to the country.”

Though Su Kaicheng did not speak very clearly, Ye Qing understood his meaning. To put it bluntly, this matter must be handled by a soldier highly loyal to the country. When he asked Ye Qing if he wanted to continue being a soldier, it was to see if Ye Qing had concerns about the army and whether he was a loyal soldier.

Ye Qing stood upright, solemnly looked at Su Kaicheng, and said, ”If the country needs it, I can execute this task!”

Su Kaicheng nodded and said, ”If you can indeed execute this task, then it will be entrusted to you.”

Su Kaicheng paused, and said, ”This task is of great importance and highly classified. Even in the Capital, only a few people are aware of this task. Therefore, Ye Qing, everything I am telling you now is highly confidential and must not be leaked!”

Ye Qing did not speak, only solemnly nodded, his expression extremely serious. As a soldier, he naturally understood what highly classified meant. Highly classified meant not divulging secrets even at the cost of one’s life!

Su Kaicheng took a deep breath and said, ”This task was initially proposed by the former minister of the State Security Department thirty years ago. The real launch of this task happened ten years ago, led by the State Security Department in initiating this plan. In these ten years, the country selected many elite personnel from various military forces to participate in this plan. However, within these ten years, most elite personnel sacrificed due to this plan. And now, with the task deadline approaching, the country urgently needs new forces to join the plan. Hence, all departments are selecting people who are highly loyal to the country.”

Su Kaicheng said, looking at Ye Qing, ”We have investigated your record in the army and your experiences over the years, finding that you meet all the requirements of our selection criteria. Your records in the army far exceed ordinary people. Moreover, you are absolutely loyal and dedicated, loving and protecting the country. This is why my father suggested you participate in this task.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing was even more startled. What on earth was the task Su Kaicheng was talking about, how come the more he heard, the more significant it sounded?

However, Ye Qing did not ask, instead quietly listened to Su Kaicheng. He knew that since Su Kaicheng chose him, he would definitely tell him the specifics.

”This task does not require you to be in the army and even requires you to keep your identity confidential. However, we still need you to have a position in the army, so that we can provide you with special powers that, at critical moments, you can use to mobilize troops to assist you in executing the task!” Su Kaicheng looked at Ye Qing and said, ”This is why I asked if you are willing to continue being a soldier.”

”If the task requires it, I can continue being a soldier!” Ye Qing replied.

Su Kaicheng nodded and said, ”In that case, now as the leader of the fifth security team of the State Security Department, I officially appoint you as the captain of the State Security Department’s Dragon Slaughter Special Action Team!”

Su Kaicheng said, handing a palm-sized badge to Ye Qing and said, ”This is your identification, recognizing this badge, at least a person of Major General level. Moreover, using this badge, you can freely mobilize a battalion of troops, completely under your command!”

”Ah?” Ye Qing was instantly shocked, he naturally knew what it meant to be able to mobilize a battalion of troops. That is not something an ordinary camp commander can do. To know, to mobilize a battalion, one needs superior approval, usually, such a large number of actions require the military area’s permissions, going through many leaders.

Now, with such a small badge in his hand, Ye Qing can actually freely mobilize a battalion of troops. This is too astonishing, Ye Qing already knew the task was not simple just now. Now seeing this badge, hearing Su Kaicheng’s words, Ye Qing even more confirmed this task is absolutely not simple!

Su Kaicheng handed the badge to Ye Qing, saying, ”Now, you are the captain of the State Security Department’s Dragon Slaughter Special Action Team, and I should also tell you about your task.”

Ye Qing immediately stood upright, listening carefully to Su Kaicheng’s words, he knew that every word Su Kaicheng says next is of great importance.

Su Kaicheng was silent for a while, suddenly looked up at Ye Qing and said, ”Ye Qing, have you heard of Heaven Earth Man Three Gates?”

”Ah?” Ye Qing exclaimed again, could it be that Su Kaicheng’s task is related to Heaven Earth Man Three Gates? This... these three gates have attracted even the nation’s forces?

”It seems you have heard of it,” Su Kaicheng sighed and said, ”When I first heard about Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, it was indeed very shocking. However, Heaven Earth Man Three Gates do exist, that’s something even the State Security Department recognizes, nobody can doubt it. And our task is related to Heaven Earth Man Three Gates!”

Ye Qing frowned slightly. Could it be that the State Security Department also wants to vie for the opportunity to enter Heaven Earth Man Three Gates? That wouldn’t be appropriate, would it?

Su Kaicheng glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, since ancient times, every time it appears, it will cause countless bloodshed, countless people die because of these three gates, never has it changed. Even with technology developing to this era, there are still many people losing their lives for the chance to enter these three gates. Just like the former Huangfu Household, the former Chen Family, you should know about these!”

Ye Qing slowly nodded, of course he knew about these families.

Su Kaicheng said, ”But do you know that Huangfu Household and Chen Family actually belong to the same force?”

”Are you talking about Hong Alliance?” Ye Qing asked.

”Exactly, it’s Hong Alliance!” Su Kaicheng nodded and said, ”Since you know about Hong Alliance, you must have heard of Twelve Green Halls.”

Ye Qing nodded, matters concerning Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance and Twelve Green Halls were previously told by Tianfu. Only, Ye Qing didn’t expect Su Kaicheng knew about these too. Logically speaking, Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance and Twelve Green Halls are civilian organizations, completely subject to prohibition. The country knows they exist, why just watch them exist?

Su Kaicheng continued, ”Since you know these, do you know why these two organizations ultimately gathered together?”

Ye Qing said, ”Seven Rudders of Hong Alliance is rumored to be a union of some anti-Qing patriots joined to support Ming Royal Family heirs, thereby gathering together. As for Twelve Green Halls, its predecessor is said to be Salt Gang traffickers, gathered together to resist black gang fragmentation.”

”That’s just the surface, the genuine reason these two organizations gather is purely because of interests!” Su Kaicheng sighed and said, ”And these interests are inseparable from Heaven Earth Man Three Gates.”

”Really?” Ye Qing was surprised, what Su Kaicheng said was somewhat different from what Tianfu told.

”In this world, human hearts differ, if not for common interests, why would so many strong forces gather together?” Su Kaicheng said, ”Seven Rudders of Hong Alliance, Twelve Green Halls, are purely gathered for interests. And these interests are tied to Heaven Earth Man Three Gates.”

Ye Qing was slightly silent for a while, and said, ”I know both organizations possess the key items to unlock Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, but that doesn’t mean these organizations wholly gather just because of Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, right? You should know, each time Heaven Earth Man Three Gates opens, only one person can enter. Meaning, the probability is really small, for the glory of one person and having so many people gather to fight seems unlikely, right?”

”Your reasoning is because you do not understand Heaven Earth Man Three Gates at all,” Su Kaicheng smiled and said, ”You know there’s great fortune inside Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, but do you know what that fortune truly is inside?”

This was a question Ye Qing indeed didn’t know. He only knew that those who entered Heaven Earth Man Three Gates eventually became top figures. But what exactly is inside Heaven Earth Man Three Gates, he really didn’t know, nor has anyone told him. It’s said only those who have entered know what is inside; outsiders do not know.

Ye Qing shook his head, looking at Su Kaicheng, and said, ”Then do you know what is inside Heaven Earth Man Three Gates?”

”Certainly!” Su Kaicheng said, ”This is also the key point of the task I am assigning to you today!”

(It was mentioned before that there would be two outbreaks in March. Yesterday was one outbreak, today still has ten updates for support from everyone.)
