The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The carriage was queuing to leave the city when Shu Yu suddenly called to stop, causing Ying Xi to pause for a moment. She turned her head and asked, ”Miss, what’s wrong?”

”Isn’t that Dazhuang?” Shu Yu pointed to a man negotiating with a vendor not far away.

Seemingly dissatisfied with the negotiation, Dazhuang shook his head and entered another shop with the two people behind him.

Ying Xi nodded immediately, ”Yes, that’s Dazhuang. What’s he doing here?”

Shu Yu lowered her gaze to calculate the time, her face lit up with joy, and she smiled, ”He should be delivering goods with Brother Daniu to Changjin Prefecture, passing through here.”

Brother Daniu returned to Dongan Province to procure supplies shortly after the shop opened. Judging by the distance and time, they are currently halfway through delivering goods, so passing through here is just right.

Ying Xi was surprised, ”That’s such a coincidence, we bumped into them.”

”Ying Xi, let’s head back first.”

”Yes.”

Ying Xi pulled the reins and left the queue of carriages leaving the city, as they were just starting to queue and were at the very end.

Behind them, Ying Dong, on the carriage, looked at them perplexedly and quickly turned around to leave the line as well.

When Ying Xi drove the carriage to the shop Dazhuang had entered, Dazhuang happened to come out from inside.

He initially intended to bypass the carriage, but upon hearing a familiar voice, he looked up and saw Shu Yu emerging from the carriage.

”Boss?!” Dazhuang was overjoyed.

Shu Yu jumped off the carriage, walked to the side of the shop, and observed the several bundles hanging from him. She smiled and asked, ”Did you just pass through Huajiang Prefecture? Where’s Brother Daniu?”

”Yes, we just arrived here yesterday afternoon. The Chief Steward and the others are resting at the hostel. I brought two people out to buy some things, and unexpectedly ran into the boss here. Are you planning to return home?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Yes, we arrived yesterday too. Is the hostel you’re staying at far from here? Take me to have a look.”

”Not far at all; it’s just nearby.”

In fact, the hostel wasn’t far. They were just traveling and had entered the city to rest for a bit. After resting for a night, they were set to leave again today. With so much cargo and carts to transport, it was naturally best to stay as close to the city gate as possible.

Shu Yu followed Dazhuang towards the hostel, casually asking about the quantity of goods being transported this time.

Dazhuang said, ”We’ve shipped another half of the household stock. The Chief Steward said it’s tough delivering once, so we should take as much as we can. Manager Jiang is full of ideas, and the goods sell fast in Changjin Prefecture, especially with the Dragon Boat Festival coming up soon, they plan to hold an event, so we should deliver as much as we can.”

He gave Shu Yu a rough estimate and immediately added, ”But we might have a few customers yesterday who may place a small order today, so the Chief Steward and others are waiting at the hostel and won’t set off until afternoon.”

Otherwise, they would have left as soon as the city gate opened.

Shu Yu paused, ”What do you mean by that?”

”Didn’t we enter the city yesterday afternoon? The Chief Steward saw it was still early and suggested taking a walk around the wharf. There are many cargo ships there, and naturally, many merchants. Last time we were in a hurry and didn’t have time to look around. This time, it’s not so urgent, so we seized the opportunity to see if we could find a few customers. After all, the items from our family are rare goods, especially instant noodles. The food of merchants traveling from north to south is generally quite meager, so instant noodles are easy to market.”
