The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu wasn’t really familiar with this Young Master Gan, but a few days ago when he opened his business, Young Master Gan had sent a congratulatory gift. They didn’t talk then.

Shu Yu was very busy that day and didn’t even notice when Young Master Gan left.

Unexpectedly, he’s here again today.

Jiang Fengshou said he’s in the backyard, and Shu Yu walked in with a face full of suspicion.

Just entering the courtyard, she heard a somewhat familiar hearty laugh.

Shu Yu looked carefully and saw Young Master Gan playing with Jiang Fengshou’s youngest son.

Madam Xue has been working here for two days already. Shu Yu had observed carefully and tasted her cooking, which was indeed delicious, and she was diligent too.

Although it’s still the probation period, Shu Yu also let Madam Xue bring her two children to play. After all, once she becomes a formal employee, the children will stay with her. Shu Yu wanted to see if Ms. Jiang could still do well at her job with children around.

Today is her first day bringing the children, and unexpectedly she got along well with Young Master Gan?

Young Master Gan was holding melon seeds, cracking them open and tossing them into the air to catch in his mouth. He had some skill, doing it several times with accuracy.

The young child from the Jiang family watched with excitement and admiration.

Shu Yu watched in surprise. This Young Master Gan was good friends with Xun Sheng, who, although not an earnest bookworm, was a stable and reserved person. How could someone as lively as Gan Rui be such good friends with him?

No wonder he could wait for her for half an hour.

Yet, seeing how considerate and patient he was with the child, he did seem kind-hearted.

Shu Yu lightly coughed, and Gan Rui missed catching his last melon seed. He quickly turned around and, seeing her, became embarrassed, ”The county magistrate is back?”

The child from the Jiang family sweetly called out, ”Boss.”

”Yes, I have something to discuss with Young Master Gan. Let Ying Xi take you to play.”

Ying Xi came over to take the child’s hand, but the child shook his head, ”No need, I’ll go find my sister and practice writing.”

He ran off, pattering away, and Shu Yu quickly realized.

This was probably not Young Master Gan playing with the child, but the child helping to ’entertain’ Young Master Gan.

Jiang Fengshou and Madam Xue were clever people.

She shook her head with a smile and led Gan Rui to the room beside which served as a parlor.

After serving tea, Shu Yu asked, ”Young Master Gan, what brings you here today?”

Gan Rui smiled and said, ”It’s nothing major, just wanted to tell the county magistrate some news.”

”What is it?”

”Chen Qiu is gone.”

Shu Yu was taken aback, not expecting him to talk about something related to Chen Qiu.

But thinking it over, it didn’t seem strange, as her only connection with Gan Rui was indeed through the Chen family’s affairs. Beyond that, they didn’t seem to have common ground.

But with Chen Qiu gone, Shu Yu was still somewhat surprised. A few days ago she appeared at the shop entrance, and after being taken away by the Pan family, she hadn’t been seen since.

Shu Yu didn’t care about Chen Qiu; she lowered her eyes and took a sip of tea, ”If she’s gone, so be it. The one our family has a feud with is Chen Bing. I don’t really care about Chen Qiu.”

Gan Rui chuckled, ”But the reason she left is because of you, county magistrate.”

Shu Yu frowned, finding this statement sounding as if she had driven the person away.

Gan Rui, seeing her expression, quickly explained, ”What I mean is, Chen Qiu leaving is something I need to thank you for, county magistrate.”
