The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ms. Tao explained, ”Ah Han will marry into the prefecture in the future. Though our escort agency is doing well, compared to the Gan Family, there is definitely some disparity.”

She’s referring to the economic aspect; the Meng family simply can’t match up to the Gan Family.

Shu Yu understood, ”So you want to buy a shop in the prefecture as a dowry for Ah Han?”

”Yes, I heard the shop prices in the prefecture have dropped a bit this year, so I was thinking of buying one for Ah Han, to secure her future.”

It’s a good idea, but even with the price drops, the cost of a shop in the prefecture is still substantial.

Does Ms. Tao have money?

Ms. Tao really doesn’t; her brother swindled a lot from her earlier, and most of it was spent on her maternal family.

Fortunately, the Meng family escort agency has some savings, but isn’t it under expansion recently? Spending is like running water, there’s no extra money. If it weren’t for Meng Pei contributing, the agency could only be half-expanded.

So, to buy a shop in the prefecture, Ms. Tao’s money is indeed tight.

But she truly wanted to take advantage of the low prices, or else in a few years, she wouldn’t be able to afford it.

So before coming, she borrowed some money. Actually, she could ask Shu Yu or Meng Yunzheng to borrow directly. But as they are younger, and there’s been unpleasantness in the past, neither Ms. Tao nor Uncle Meng would agree.

Ms. Tao’s main purpose in finding Shu Yu was to get her opinion on which shop to buy.

Not knowing the prefecture well and never having done business, Ms. Tao was clueless about this.

Shu Yu rarely found Ms. Tao’s decision quite farsighted, so she didn’t refuse. She went to inquire from Jiang Fengshou, and sure enough, he quickly offered four shops for Ms. Tao to choose from.

Ms. Tao looked them over and eventually chose a cloth shop located on Fuyuan Street.

Firstly, it’s close to Lu’s for mutual care. Secondly, the cloth shop is sold as a package, so Ms. Tao doesn’t have to worry about other businesses. Thirdly, when Meng Han went to Dongan Province, she helped in Shuyou’s Yiren Pavilion, she’s not versed in other things, but has a certain understanding of fabrics.

Having decided, Ms. Tao bargained with the boss of the cloth shop and quickly transferred the property, with the shop now under Meng Han’s name.

Ms. Tao completed a major task and finally felt at ease.

Seeing that Meng Han’s marriage had been settled and Lu’s shop was underway, Shu Yu noticed it was almost April, and it was time for her to return to Dongan Province.

She’s been out... for half a year now.

Just as she was preparing to leave, Cheng Xian invited her and Meng Yunzheng to have a meal together.

Cheng Xian said that three days after the incident involving Cheng Jiatong and Cheng Wen, Old Master Cheng sent them to the southwest. They didn’t wait for Cheng Xian to set off together, nor could Cheng Xian travel with them, but they would inevitably meet when he returned to the southwest.

His matters in Changjin Prefecture were also completed, and he planned to return in a few days.

Shu Yu calculated, ”You’ll be heading southwest, wouldn’t that mean we could travel together for a while? Why not go together?”

Meng Yunzheng, who was drinking tea beside, couldn’t help but sigh. He couldn’t leave. The Imperial Examination is just a few months away; if he leaves now, he’d have to come back in two months, wasting all that time on the road.

Shu Yu also disagreed with his return, asking him to stay and study well. As for the academy he bought, she’ll help with its refurbishing after she returns, and wait for him to pass the exams and admit many students.
