The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Southwest?

This time it was Cheng Xian’s turn to frown.

However, Cheng Feng turned earnestly, respectfully cupping his hands and said, ”Guard Cheng, our Cheng Family happens to have a shop in the southwest. Let the siblings go there, it will help them cultivate themselves while managing the shop. Guard Cheng, rest assured, I will send them to the southwest separately, without causing you any trouble.”

Cheng Xian said, ”Actually, there’s no need to go so far.”

Cheng Feng shook his head, ”The two of them just haven’t been far from home nor seen much of the world, that’s why their vision is so narrow, only focusing on what’s in front of them without knowing the vastness beyond. Let them see the southwest, without anyone’s support, let’s see what they can achieve.”

As he spoke, his sharp gaze fell upon Cheng Wen Bao, ”Wen Bao, that shop is entrusted to you, manage it well. If nothing comes of it, you and your sister just shouldn’t come back.”

Cheng Wen Bao opened his mouth, his face grim, and after a while, he replied hoarsely and with difficulty, ”Father, I understand.”

However, Cheng Jiatong could not accept this at all, ”I’m not going, not to such a backward place in the southwest. Why should I go? Father, that’s the southwest, it’s an exile area. Are you planning to exile me? The customs there are fierce, venomous insects and snakes everywhere, aren’t you worried at all about my and my brother’s safety?”

Cheng Feng shouted, ”You have no room for objection in this matter.”

”Father, you’re too heartless. I did wrong, but you’ve already punished me, so why send me to such a faraway place?” Cheng Jiatong cried, talking as if having suddenly realized something, ”I understand, it’s Concubine Gao, right? You must have listened to Concubine Gao’s whispers. To make room for her son and daughter, you’re exiling me and my brother so far away. Father, have you gone senile? You spoil concubines and neglect the legitimate children and daughters, aren’t you afraid of people laughing at you? You...”

”Is no one going to take Miss Cheng away?” Cheng Feng scolded the nearby old women and maid, ”You must truly have lost your mind, sending you away is not unjust at all.”

Soon, old women came to drag the struggling, crying Cheng Jiatong away.

Cheng Feng looked towards Cheng Wen Bao, ”Do you also feel I’m treating you unfairly?”

”No, I don’t think that way, Father. Fourth Sister has been too overwhelmed today, causing her incoherent speech. I’ll go talk to her; she will come to understand.”

”That’s good.”

Cheng Wen Bao soon took his leave, turning towards the front courtyard, his spirit somewhat dampened.

Once Cheng Feng had finished handling matters, he spoke to Shu Yu, ”I wonder if you, county magistrate, are satisfied with Cheng’s handling?”

Shu Yu smiled, ”Old Master Cheng is too polite. You wish to educate your children, imposing such severe punishment. I don’t want to bear responsibility for that. With this Ganoderma, I don’t intend to hold Miss Cheng accountable further.”

Cheng Feng paused and then joked, ”Yes, Cheng spoke incorrectly. The county magistrate is generous, naturally would not hold a grudge against my daughter. It was only upon seeing her actions that Cheng realized the need to correct behavior to avoid future calamities for the Cheng Family, thus deciding to properly teach her.”

Shu Yu squinted, saying little but feeling that Old Master Cheng was scheming something.

Cheng Xian also didn’t look pleased, having lost interest, simply saying, ”Since the matter is settled, let it rest here. County magistrate, may I escort you?”

This implied wanting to speak alone.
