The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu nodded, indicating she understood.

Not only did Xia Yan buy the things, Shu Yu also bought hers.

The next day when Meng Yunzheng came to pick her up, the carriage was almost filled to the brim with half the sacrificial items.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng couldn’t help but exchange a glance and laugh.

The carriage headed towards Chenggu County, and today there were many people on the road, all rushing to return to their hometowns for the sacrificial rites.

Therefore, the carriage moved a bit slowly and only arrived at the Meng family escort agency by evening.

They spent the night at the Meng family escort agency, and departed early the next morning.

Uncle Meng, who was already in good health, led the way from the front.

He first led the group to offer incense to their parents, then left them to busy themselves. Meng Han and Meng Qi helped clean up the weeds nearby, while Meng Yunzheng took Shu Yu to Song Xin’s grave to respectfully offer incense to his mother.

Watching them, Uncle Meng knelt at the grave and spoke to his parents, ”Dad, Mom, you see, our Meng family is doing well now. I got injured during the New Year and couldn’t come to see you then, but now I’m fully recovered. Don’t worry, the injury wasn’t serious, and it was worth it since we earned an imperial plaque for our family. Impressive, right?”

He rambled on and on; Meng Qi and Meng Han exchanged a glance and couldn’t help but cover their mouths and laugh.

Uncle Meng was delighted, ”I’ve come to terms with it now; Ah Qi doesn’t have the gift for studying, so I won’t force him. Now that our Meng family escort agency is doing so well, inheriting it will be promising. Yun is the one who studies, and he’s a Scholar, even the Top Scorer, now working under Lord Qi, and his wife is the county magistrate. His official career is sure to prosper. The two brothers get along well now and can help each other in the future, so you can rest assured.”

He couldn’t help himself but kept talking for most of the day until Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu returned, and he finally stopped.

Uncle Meng stood up and said to them, ”You two should also talk to your grandfather and grandmother.”

Meng Yunzheng nodded, ”Grandfather, Grandmother, in the future, Yun will be dutiful to Dad and Uncle and will take good care of the younger siblings, bringing glory to the Meng family escort agency.”

There were some things he couldn’t say out loud, hoping the ancestors underground could understand. Although the blood in his veins wasn’t of the Meng family, his heart had always been concerned with the Meng family.

Uncle Meng then called Meng Qi and Meng Han, ”You two as well, learn from your brother, make promises to your grandfather and grandmother to establish yourselves early.”

Meng Han and Meng Qi, ”...”

The two of them were quite helpless. Following their father’s example, they formally expressed their resolutions, and only then did the family rise and start down the mountain.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng hadn’t returned for some time, and now the Meng family escort agency had changed significantly.

Uncle Meng was very concerned about Shu Yu’s shop, and although Meng Qi returned saying business was booming, he still asked many questions out of concern.

Shu Yu answered every question, and although Uncle Meng had limited knowledge of business matters, he felt Shu Yu was formidable despite her young age. So when Meng Han suggested continuing to follow Shu Yu back to the prefecture to learn, Uncle Meng was very pleased to let her go.

Yet, for some reason, Shu Yu’s eyelids twitched inexplicably.

The next day, when they returned to the prefecture, Meng Han indeed packed a big bundle and came along.

Upon returning to the prefecture, Shu Yu first went to her shop.

Then she heard Jiang Fengshou say, ”Boss, Young Master Gan stopped by again today.”
