The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The martial arts arena was bustling at this time, with many escorts huffing and puffing as they exercised.

On the stage in the center, Uncle Meng was sparring with someone using a long spear, the fight growing fiercer by the minute. Ms. Tao watched nervously from below, ”Alright, alright, your injury has only just healed, take a break.”

”I’m perfectly fine now.” Uncle Meng refused, taking a step back before lunging forward again.

It’s hard to blame him for being so enthusiastic, as he hadn’t sparred with anyone for a long time due to healing from his injury. The escort agency had recently recruited many new escorts, some of whom were quite skilled.

The escort he was currently sparring with was exceptionally skilled and steadfast, not falling behind at all against Uncle Meng, which was a pleasant surprise to him.

Many escorts below the stage were cheering loudly. Aside from Ms. Tao, who was worried, everyone else was so excited that they wished they could jump on stage for a match.

When Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng arrived, this was the scene they saw.

The two exchanged a glance and simply stood by to watch.

The others were so engrossed in the spectacle that they didn’t notice the few new arrivals.

It wasn’t until Uncle Meng stumbled, taking a few steps backward and almost falling off the stage, that there was an astonished cry. A figure darted out from the crowd, catching him in time, and everyone was momentarily stunned.

Uncle Meng was especially surprised, then exclaimed joyously, ”Yunzheng, you’re back?”

Meng Yunzheng stood on the stage, steadying Uncle Meng, and said helplessly, ”Uncle, the doctor said you should rest for at least half a year. Injuries to the muscles and bones take a hundred days to heal. You weren’t just injured like that back then.”

Ms. Tao snapped back from her shock, hurriedly running forward to give Uncle Meng a light smack, ”Exactly, exactly, you don’t listen to me, but you should listen to Yunzheng, right?”

Uncle Meng, however, was indifferent, ”You’re just worrying for nothing, I just lost my footing earlier.”

He was still in high spirits and, seeing that Ms. Tao was about to speak again, quickly pushed Meng Yunzheng forward, saying, ”Yunzheng, you have a go. Our escort agency has recruited many capable escorts, why don’t you evaluate them?”

Saying this, he thrust the long spear into Yunzheng’s hands and said to the escort opposite, ”Old Qu, have a match with my nephew.”

”Nephew?” The opponent looked at Meng Yunzheng, slightly furrowing his brow.

The others seemed to realize something, ”Head Escort, is your nephew the scholar who scored a small triumph in the exams last year?”

”Yes, that’s him,” Uncle Meng replied proudly.

Someone muttered, ”I know Scholar Meng is brilliant in his studies, with extensive knowledge, but standing such a delicate scholar on the martial stage is too harsh for him.”

”Yes, yes, otherwise, I’d go up and spar with Escort Master Qu?”

”Scholar Meng, why don’t you come down, that spear looks quite heavy, give it to me, I’ll hold it.”

Meng Yunzheng had a handsome appearance. Compared to the muscular escorts present, he truly fit the description of a delicate scholar, at least his appearance was quite deceiving.

Shu Yu remembered the first time she saw him pretending to be mute in Jiangyuan County. He looked so frail it was pitiful; who would have thought he could leap over walls as effortlessly as standing up?

Uncle Meng was a bit displeased, ”What are you saying? Yunzheng isn’t some weak scholar, he’s quite formidable.”

Meng Yunzheng chuckled, feeling the weight of the long spear in his hands, and nodded, ”It is indeed quite heavy, I’m more accustomed to using a sword.”
