The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Ms. Liao and Gan Yujing immediately promised, ”There will be no more issues, rest assured, once the engagement is set, no one can ruin Ah Rui and Ah Han’s relationship.”

Only then did Ms. Tao nod, though she still felt somewhat uneasy inside.

Shu Yu did not get involved; after dealing with Cheng Jiatong, the matter of the engagement was no longer her concern.

There are many troubles in wealthy families, but the challenges faced by ordinary families are not any less. There’s no such thing as perfection in this world; it all depends on the kind of person you choose.

After clarifying things, the atmosphere between Ms. Tao, Ms. Liao, and Gan Yujing became much more harmonious.

Ms. Liao suggested that there was no time like the present and invited Ms. Tao and Meng Han to visit the Gan family.

Ms. Tao considered it and asked Shu Yu if she was interested. Shu Yu had other matters to attend to, so she declined.

When Ms. Tao returned that evening, she was all smiles, and the morning uneasiness had vanished. She told everyone, ”The Gan family is truly grand, every courtyard is very spacious. I even saw Gan Rui’s courtyard, it’s peaceful, comfortable, and very large. Once Ah Han marries into the family, life will surely be easy.”

Easy? It seems like Ms. Liao must have made quite a few promises today.

The Cheng Jiatong incident made the Gan family feel a bit guilty, which led them to treat Ms. Tao and Meng Han with extra enthusiasm.

Since both parties were satisfied, the next step was to discuss the engagement.

Ms. Tao took Meng Han back to Chenggu County first. Two days later, Father Gan, Brother Gan, Sister-in-law, and Gan Yujing, along with the matchmaker, made a grand trip to the Meng family’s escort agency in Chenggu County to propose marriage.

Shu Yu didn’t witness the scene, but she heard from Meng Han that it was very lively.

Especially Uncle Meng and Father Gan, one is a martial artist, the other a scholarly figure.

Uncle Meng always holds scholars in high regard, otherwise, he wouldn’t entertain the dream of the talentless Meng Qi becoming a Scholar. But Father Gan, with his ostentatious demeanor and flowery speech, appeared to be a well-educated man with vast knowledge.

Uncle Meng was very eager to converse with him, or rather, as he put it, to seek advice. Although he didn’t understand most of it, it didn’t hinder his strong social skills.

Father Gan quite enjoyed this admiration, especially since the other party was also someone who traveled often and had seen a lot. Don’t be fooled by Father Gan’s reserved demeanor; he loved hearing about Uncle Meng’s experiences and even envied his strong physique and martial skills, which gave him a sense of security.

When Shu Yu heard these things, she couldn’t help but twitch her lips.

She thought these two completely opposite personalities would clash upon meeting, but surprisingly, they were quite... harmoniously complementary?

The engagement was thus settled, making Gan Rui and Meng Han an engaged couple.

As for the wedding date, as Shu Yu mentioned, they would have to wait until Meng Han turned seventeen, which was three years from now.

Three years seemed a bit long to the Gan family, but Gan Rui had no objections, so it was decided.

After the engagement was set, Gan Rui’s visits to Meng Han became more frequent and open. Previously, Meng Han was very interested in Ah Rui’s travels with his two friends. Gan Rui noticed this, and knowing that she loved going out, he took her to visit the nearby county towns and explore all the places he had been to.

This thoughtful gesture greatly pleased Ms. Tao.

But soon, Ms. Tao found herself worrying again. A few days later, she came to Shu Yu, mentioning the idea of buying a shop.

”Buying a shop?” Shu Yu was surprised upon hearing her request.
