The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Jiang Fengshou seemed to have thought of something and said, ”By the way, Ms. Liao’s family runs a grain shop. Their family background can’t compare with the Gan Family, but it’s not too different either.”

Shu Yu nodded, appearing lost in thought.

Jiang Fengshou suddenly laughed, ”The Gan Family is quite peaceful. I heard that Young Master Gan hasn’t taken a maid for his room yet.”

Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, ”Haven’t taken a maid?” In such a prominent family, this was quite rare.

Jiang Fengshou knew what Shu Yu wanted to know, after all, Gan Rui came by frequently. He saw him more often than Shu Yu, and this man even used his own son as a shield several times.

Actually, in Jiang Fengshou’s view, Gan Rui was quite good.

”Young Master Gan is seventeen this year. Normally, his family should have arranged for a maid to serve him long ago, but Young Master Gan declined. I heard it was because he almost died at the hands of a maid before.”

Shu Yu was taken aback, ”Was it Father Gan’s maid?”

Jiang Fengshou shook his head, ”No, it was Eldest Gan’s maid.”

When Eldest Gan came of age, Mother Gan was still alive. Given the Gan Family’s status, arranging a maid for him to understand matters was very common. Eldest Gan took two maids, and later married Ms. Liao at the age of seventeen.

Ms. Liao gave birth to a son a year after she got married.

A year later, Mother Gan passed away, and the household management suddenly fell on the young Ms. Liao.

Ms. Liao had just taken over and inevitably was a bit overwhelmed, with daily chaos and stress, while also having to care for her one-year-old son, leaving no extra energy to focus on her husband.

As a result, Eldest Gan’s maid saw it as an opportunity, attempting to serve Eldest Gan during Ms. Liao’s busy times, hoping she might bear a son or two.

But no matter how unfilial Eldest Gan might be, he couldn’t possibly be eager to get close to women just two months after his mother passed away. Especially as he was a filial person, seeing how unrestrained the maid was, he instead became furious, not only rejecting her service but also confining her.

This felt like being banished from the inner circle to the maid. While mocked and fueled by another maid, she took a wrong path, thinking Eldest Gan changed after marrying Ms. Liao. After the marriage, Eldest Gan barely interacted with the two maids, only seeking them out a few times during Ms. Liao’s pregnancy.

After Ms. Liao gave birth to a son, Eldest Gan didn’t even glance at them.

In deep jealousy, she secretly bought croton seeds and, when nobody was watching, added them to Ms. Liao’s son’s food.

Croton seeds aren’t poisonous, but for a one-year-old, it could easily be fatal if there’s any accidental ingestion.

Especially if the child vomits and has diarrhea, his stomach could easily become damaged.

Eldest Gan’s son had just started eating soft foods, and the meals were very refined.

At that time, Gan Rui was eight years old. He really liked children, especially his soft little nephew. Seeing that his older brother and sister-in-law were busy, he would come to play with his little nephew after school.

The little nephew was initially reluctant to eat soft foods, so Gan Rui coaxed him to eat by taking a bite himself, then feeding a bite to his nephew, the two playing and eating together.

That day, Gan Rui came as usual to feed his little nephew, but unexpectedly, before he arrived, the wet nurse had just fed the child milk, and the little one wasn’t hungry. When Gan Rui tried to feed him, the little one pushed it back, giggling and making him eat it. As a result, Gan Rui ended up eating half a bowl himself.
