The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1750: Chapter 1750: Farewell, Qi Lie

Inspector Yin was guarding the city gate. When he saw their group approaching, he hurriedly went up to meet them, ”Monarch Lu Xiang.”

”Has General Huang’s men arrived?”

”Not yet.”

Shu Yu thought for a moment and simply went up to the city wall.

Looking down from above, the view was much broader. Shu Yu gazed into the distance, seeing only bare trees in the winter.

It seemed they had to wait a bit longer. Shu Yu took the stool handed over by Ying Xi and leaned against the city wall, sitting down.

Seeing Shu Yu was guarding here, Inspector Yin took his men and left. He was quite busy now.

Shu Yu had woken up early in the morning. Enjoying the warm sun, she felt a bit drowsy. Just as she was about to close her eyes for a break, someone next to her shouted, ”They’re coming, they’re coming.”

Shu Yu quickly stood up and looked in the direction the person was pointing. Sure enough, she saw a line of troops faintly appearing in her vision.

Shu Yu squinted. It was too far to see clearly, and she wasn’t sure whether the incoming group was General Huang’s men, so she raised her hand and said to everyone, ”Stay on guard.”

The soldiers and guards stationed at the city gate immediately tightened their grip on their weapons, nervously watching the direction outside the city.

As the troop got closer, Shu Yu recognized the person leading them. Her eyes lit up, and she hurriedly ran down from the city wall.

”Open the gate.”

Lu Wu hurriedly asked, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, are you sure they’re General Huang’s men?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”I’m sure. I know the person leading them.”

Lu Wu felt relieved, and the nearby soldiers slowly opened the city gate to welcome the approaching troop from outside.

Not long after, the troop came closer, and the leader galloped over on horseback.

”Monarch Lu Xiang, long time no see.” The man on horseback, full of spirit, smiled and dismounted.

Shu Yu said, ”Lord Qi, I didn’t expect it to be you. Please come in.”

Qi Lie nodded at Shu Yu and let his troop enter through the city gate first. As soon as they were inside, he saw cartloads of weapons placed nearby and immediately approached with excitement to touch them.

”When General Huang mentioned it, I found it somewhat incredible. I didn’t expect there to be so many new weapons.” Despite having been undercover in the black market for a while, he indeed didn’t know there were so many weapons hidden in the chamber.

Qi Lie eyed a sword, picked it up to test it, felt satisfied, and naturally hung it at his waist.

Shu Yu, ”...” Is it really this brazen?

Qi Lie turned his head and met her complex gaze. He immediately cleared his throat and said, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, please don’t misunderstand. You know I went to the black market earlier, and it wasn’t convenient to carry weapons. My personal sword is still in the capital. In times of crisis like this, having a handy weapon is important for me. I’ll explain it to General Huang later.”

Shu Yu chuckled; she hadn’t said anything at all.

Qi Lie also smiled at her, then turned to his accompanying men and said, ”Everyone, get ready, check the items carefully, we’ll leave shortly.”

”Yes.”

The soldiers under his command were also very excited and, following the example set, secured any handy weapons before they reported back later.

Shu Yu shook her head and curiously asked Qi Lie, ”Lord Qi, are you now back with General Huang? How is the situation outside?”

Upon hearing the matter, Qi Lie’s expression turned much more serious, though he couldn’t help but let a hint of a smile escape from his eyes, ”Speaking of which, I must thank you.”
