The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1733: Chapter 1733: The Shrewish, Unreasonable Shu Yu

General Huang sensed something was amiss, so he told the soldier, “Let her in.”

Upon entering, Shu Yu glanced around, and finally her gaze settled on General Huang. Before he could speak, she ran over, urgently saying, “You must be General Huang, right? I heard you came here to suppress the bandits, didn’t you? You absolutely must help me.”

Everyone present was taken aback. County Magistrate Cheng hurriedly stood up, forced a smile, and stepped forward to persuade her, “Monarch Lu Xiang, I am the county magistrate here. Please take your time to explain. If you need any help, feel free to ask me. I will definitely do my best to assist you.”

Shu Yu waved her hand, not even glancing at him, “You won’t be able to do it.”

County Magistrate Cheng, “…” found his smile fading somewhat.

Shu Yu continued, “General Huang, this is the situation: my village chief’s fiancé is the Scholar of Chenggu County. Oh yes, it’s Meng Yunzheng. General Huang, you’re from the capital, you should have heard of him, right? He’s quite famous.”

General Huang hesitantly nodded, somewhat puzzled as to what Shu Yu aimed to do.

“General Huang, my fiancé’s uncle was captured by mountain bandits a few days ago. You can’t imagine how lawless these bandits are; they dare to barge into people’s homes and kidnap someone in broad daylight. You must help me rescue him.”

County Magistrate Cheng’s mouth twitched as he squeezed in again to say, “Monarch Lu Xiang, we know that Head Escort from the Meng family has been captured. We’ve been searching for these past few days. Rest assured, there will soon be news.”

“You say you’ve been searching for days, but still haven’t found him, right? With so few people under you, it’s simply not enough,” Shu Yu scoffed, then turned to General Huang, “Otherwise, could you lend me some men, General Huang? I know you’re great in battle, and your soldiers are formidable. I’ve heard your scouts are particularly adept at finding and investigating people. Could you lend me a couple of scouts? As soon as we find the person, I’ll return them to you immediately.”

“Nonsense!” Before General Huang could speak, a person beside him shouted angrily, clearly enraged, “Do you even know what scouts are for? It’s easy for you to say, lending you a couple. Let me tell you, we are here to handle official matters, not to find people for you. It’s simply ridiculous.”

Shu Yu glared at the person – ah, this was the insider Yuan Gui mentioned, who led General Huang’s horse.

She gritted her teeth, pushed forward with fury, and shoved him aside.

“I am speaking with General Huang, what business is it of yours? Who do you think you are? Step aside.”

Having shoved the person aside, Shu Yu smoothly positioned herself next to General Huang. With a slight excitement in her demeanor, she grabbed General Huang’s arm, shaking it urgently, “General Huang, you absolutely must help me. Rest assured, once we’ve found him, we won’t let you down. Meng Yunzheng is a promising talent; he’s bound to be the top scorer in the future. Moreover, I know Grand Tutor Qi; he takes good care of me.”

As Shu Yu grabbed his hand, General Huang felt a paper note slipped into his palm.

He looked up in surprise and discreetly pocketed the note.

Then he stood up, reassuring Shu Yu, “I understand everything Monarch Lu Xiang said. However, scouts indeed cannot be lent. Rest assured. I will soon leave the city to suppress the bandits; once they are captured, whoever they have taken will eventually be released.”
