The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1747: Chapter 1747: Shu Yu’s Directness

Shu Yu saw her looking worried and really wanted to say she could help, after all, the person in front of her was most likely her great-aunt. Her own family’s old lady was concerned, so she definitely couldn’t just stand by and watch her worry.

But before things were concluded, Shu Yu still wanted to carefully understand Granny Fang’s situation first.

So she comforted Granny Fang, saying, ”It’s okay, didn’t I tell you? Now all the constables at the Office have been arrested, there’s a severe shortage of people, Yuan Gui will be there helping for the next few days. Not to mention other things, there’s always room and board fees and hardship allowances.”

Granny Fang was taken aback, ”You said Ah Gui is working at the Office now?”

”Of course, he’s working very hard.”

Granny Fang then became happy, ”That kid, that kid’s quite clever.” However, she quickly furrowed her brows again, ”But he’s injured, what if the wound opens up?”

”Didn’t you say he’s very clever? He surely won’t let himself get hurt again.”

Granny Fang nodded absent-mindedly, ”True, then, then I’ll go to the kitchen to make some food to send over to him, that kid doesn’t know how to take care of himself, he didn’t come back yesterday, I don’t know if he’s hungry.”

As she spoke, she hurriedly got up and went to the kitchen to busy herself.

Shu Yu stood behind her, opened her mouth but in the end, could only shake her head helplessly.

Once things stabilized here, she thought, she would have to go to Granny Fang’s village to take a look.

Granny Fang soon came out with a basket, and Shu Yu saw her hurried look, which indeed had a few similarities with her own family’s old lady.

She shook her head and went in to see Uncle Meng.

Uncle Meng now slept more, and even when awake, he only had a meal and said a few words, then continued to sleep heavily.

But he was indeed slowly getting better.

Ying Xi stood by the side, asking in a low voice, ”Miss, were all the injuries on Second Master Meng caused by Jiang Kuanyu?”

That gentleman, who seemed easygoing, spoke gently, and was particularly patient with children, was actually so ruthless?

Shu Yu let out a ’hmm’, not only had Ying Xi been mistaken, but hadn’t she been mistaken too?

The two of them exchanged a few words in low voices, and Uncle Meng on the sickbed slowly opened his eyes.

Shu Yu noticed immediately, and hurriedly said, ”Uncle, you’re awake? Doctor Mi and the others have gone out, are you hungry? I’ll go to the kitchen and get you something to eat.”

Ying Xi was a step ahead and said, ”I’ll go.” After speaking, he ran out.

Uncle Meng smiled, ”Thanks for the trouble.”

Shu Yu helped him sit up, slowly leaning on the head of the bed, ”Uncle, are you feeling better?”

”Much better, in a few more days I’ll be up and about.”

Shu Yu smiled, but after a few laughs found Uncle Meng’s expression becoming somewhat despondent. She asked in a low voice, ”Uncle, what’s the matter, are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?”

”No, I’m fine, I’m just...” He hesitated for a moment, looked up at Shu Yu, ”Shu Yu, tell Uncle, have you seen, seen Uncle Tao, how is he?”

This question, he had asked Meng Qi before when he woke up.

But Meng Qi had never been through the secret passage or entered the black market, and didn’t know. He only said Eldest Uncle and the others rescued those young masters from the black market but didn’t see Uncle there.

So, either he was still in the black market, or...

Shu Yu hesitated, unsure whether to tell him, but Uncle Meng looked straight at her, ”Go ahead, I’m prepared.”

Shu Yu, ”He’s dead.”
