The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1732: Chapter 1732: Shu Yu Delivers the Message

Lu Wu took the basket and replied in a low voice, ”She went to the county office.”

”Went to the county office?”

Lu Wu nodded, his voice even lower, ”I heard that General Huang has entered the city, she went to find General Huang.”

They had already taken over the private residence of the county magistrate, probably because County Magistrate Cheng anticipated chaos here, so he sent his family away in advance. Now the private residence had almost no one except for a few loyal regular servants.

Their group came quietly, entering through a secret passage, and the people in the private residence were unprepared, so it was not difficult to take it down.

After taking control of the private residence, they conducted a search of this large house and indeed found quite a few things. At the very least, the evidence of County Magistrate Cheng’s crimes was in their hands.

At this moment, they received news that General Huang had brought people into the city.

Xia Yi needed to inform him of everything that happened in the black market in a timely manner, so she went to find General Huang.

Shu Yu furrowed her brows, worried that Xia Yi, after telling General Huang these things, might accidentally leak them out if General Huang wasn’t on guard against the people around him.

She hurriedly asked, ”When did Xia Yi leave?”

”Just now.”

Shu Yu thought for a moment, then said to Lu Wu, ”Take me to the private residence, I need to write a letter.”

”Okay.”

Lu Wu quickly led Shu Yu and Yuan Gui through the door and handed her paper and pen.

Shu Yu wrote swiftly, summarizing the situation briefly, then stopped writing and stood up, saying, ”I’m going to the county office now. You all hide first and wait for my news.”

She didn’t have time to take Yuan Gui with her, blew on the ink on the note to dry it, folded it, and rushed straight to the county office.

At this time, the entrance of the county office was silent, guarded by many people, including soldiers brought by General Huang and local officials of the county town.

But there was no communication between them, not even eye contact, making the atmosphere especially tense.

Therefore, as soon as Shu Yu ran over, she immediately attracted the attention of both sides.

Someone stepped forward to block her, ”Who goes there? If you have no urgent matter, leave immediately.”

This person was clearly a soldier brought by General Huang, wearing armor and having a stern gaze.

Shu Yu panted heavily, glared at him, and spoke arrogantly, ”I am Monarch Lu Xiang, personally appointed by the late Emperor of Dongan Province, and have urgent business with General Huang. Do you, a mere soldier, dare block my way? Step aside.”

The man was taken aback, ”Stop. Even a Village Chief cannot enter without permission.”

Shu Yu gritted her teeth, ”You’re quite bold...”

”That’s the rule,” the soldier said, moving his sword forward as a block.

Shu Yu stepped back, seemingly wary of the sword in his hand, ”Fine, since it’s a rule, then you go and report, saying Monarch Lu Xiang has urgent matters to see your General Huang. What are you dawdling for? Hurry up, if you delay something important, can you afford the consequences?”

The soldier frowned, finally relented because of Shu Yu’s identity as Village Chief, and ran inside.

General Huang was talking with County Magistrate Cheng and was very surprised to hear it was Shu Yu outside.

He certainly knew Shu Yu’s name, the adopted daughter of the Shu family, exiled to the southwest, later exonerated by her own abilities and even granted the title of Village Chief.

And... Meng Yunzheng’s fiancée.

General Huang squinted, with Monarch Lu Xiang coming, Meng Yunzheng should also be in Chenggu County.

But why didn’t they wait for him to find them? Instead, they sought him out urgently and unabashedly as soon as he entered the city?
