The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1722: Chapter 1722: Yuan Gui Is All Right Now

Meng Qi nodded repeatedly, ”He’s been sent back, he’s alright.”

After he parted ways with Meng Yunzheng that morning, he immediately took the already unconscious Yuan Gui to the familiar clinic.

Just as Meng Yunzheng had guessed, there weren’t actually many patrol officers in the city. Some of them likely headed to the black market via secret passages, disguising themselves as mountain bandits.

Therefore, Meng Qi encountered no surprises along the way. He was very familiar with the streets and alleys of the city, so he smoothly delivered Yuan Gui to the destination.

The clinic had always had a good relationship with the Meng family and was good friends with Uncle Meng.

The escorts from the Meng family escort agency often had injuries from training or escorting trips, so they frequently came to this clinic to see Doctor Mi once every few days.

Seeing Meng Qi bring in someone seriously injured, Doctor Mi instinctively asked a question.

But Meng Qi didn’t elaborate, merely stating the location of Yuan Gui’s injuries.

Doctor Mi was an understanding person. Knowing that he didn’t speak meant it was inconvenient. In the past, escorts often kept incidents on the road confidential.

Lately, the atmosphere in the county town was tense, and the Meng family had been attacked by mountain bandits. Uncle Meng even went missing because of it. Thus, Doctor Mi assumed that the mountain bandits had done something to the Meng family again and that Yuan Gui’s injuries were related to it.

He quietly treated Yuan Gui’s wounds. However, the medicine Meng Yunzheng provided was very effective, so Doctor Mi just helped with simple treatment and bandaging.

By noon, Yuan Gui had woken up.

He wanted to return immediately, as there were people waiting for him at home. Granny Fang would surely be worried since he hadn’t returned for two days and nights. Her health wasn’t good, and it would be best if nothing else happened.

But there were still patrol officers outside, Yuan Gui was injured, and he and Granny Fang were staying at someone else’s house. If those people reported them to the authorities, it would be more troublesome.

In the end, there was no choice, so Meng Qi went to find Granny Fang himself.

Luckily he did, as Granny Fang had been anxiously waiting for two days without any sign of Yuan Gui returning. If not for the family she was staying with holding her back, she would have gone to report to the authorities.

Meng Qi originally didn’t plan to mention Yuan Gui’s injuries, but Granny Fang was not easy to deceive. He had to tell her the general situation privately—the matter of the mountain bandits was not mentioned, but she was still very worried.

Later, Granny Fang proposed to take care of Yuan Gui, and after considering, Meng Qi agreed.

Granny Fang found an excuse with the family she was staying with, and then went with Meng Qi to the clinic.

Now that Granny Fang was watching over Yuan Gui at the clinic, Meng Qi stayed for a while and, seeing things were fine, returned to the Meng family escort agency.

Meng Yunzheng had mentioned that General Huang would arrive in Chenggu County within the next two days. Meng Qi, worried about missing him, stayed at the agency waiting.

But even by evening, he hadn’t seen anyone.

Meng Qi slept uneasily that night, and by 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., he woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep.

So he simply left the Meng family and returned to the abandoned mansion, where he unexpectedly ran into Meng Yunzheng.

So, in fact, he’d only been there for just an hour.

Meng Qi said, ”I was originally very cautious, afraid of encountering patrol officers on the road, only to find that there was no one at all; they weren’t patrolling.”

Back when there weren’t mountain bandits but there was a curfew, there were still occasional patrols on the streets. Now, not a soul was in sight, which Meng Qi found somewhat amusing in hindsight.
