The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1749: Chapter 1749: The Laborers See the Light of Day Again

Shu Yu and Ying Xi quickly stepped forward to lend a hand, weapons were being moved batch by batch. Shu Yu roughly calculated, and with the ones shipped over the night before last, more than half had been delivered.

Lu Wu wiped off his sweat and said to Shu Yu with a smile, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, the weapons are all here. Lord Xia said to send half

up to give to General Huang’s men first.”

Shu Yu nodded, these weapons were all sharp and brand new.

Although General Huang brought troops to suppress bandits, this wasn’t the type of large-scale border defense war. So the number of soldiers who came wasn’t high, and as for weapons, they were always scarce items, especially ones as good and new as these.

It’s rare for them to find such a large arsenal, given the urgency, General Huang waived the rules for the time being and accepted them gladly.

As for whether the soldiers under his command could keep these weapons in the future, it depended on how General Huang would negotiate with the emperor and the Ministry of War.

In any case, General Huang was delighted, first-come, first-served; once these weapons were in his pocket, there was no reason to give them back, considering sending up the other half from the black market was already quite generous.

Shu Yu first counted once before she walked inside, only to find that the ones transporting weapons out were all former laborers from the black market.

They must have been underground for a long time without seeing the light of day. Now, coming out and gazing at the bright light overhead, each was somewhat dazed. But soon, everyone started laughing excitedly, some greedily basking in the sunlight.

How long had it been? How long since they last experienced the touch of the sun’s rays? Underground there was nothing but endless work, not to mention sunlight, even stopping for rest was a luxury.

That eerie place, they really didn’t want to stay there any longer.

Shu Yu watched them with a smile and turned to Lu Wu, saying, ”Leave these weapons to me. You should first return to the county office to rest. There’s still much work ahead.”

Lu Wu hadn’t slept since leaving the black market; how could he withstand more at this rate?

Lu Wu waved his hand, ”No worries, I’m full of energy right now. Monarch Lu Xiang, I’m not afraid to admit, leaving the black market with no beast roaring in my ears, no need to constantly worry about being sent to the dueling field, or lamenting the brothers leaving one by one beside you, feels like a dream. I never thought I would see a day of escape; I used to think living one more day was one more day. So now, I’m reluctant to sleep. I want to savor this life completely different from the black market.”

Afraid of sleeping and waking back to the past.

After Lu Wu finished speaking, everyone around him showed the same expression.

Clearly, they all thought the same.

Shu Yu didn’t know what to say for a moment; she was a bit helpless, ”Even so, now that you’ve left the black market, with hope for the days ahead, you should take good care of your health. If you’re tired or sleepy, sleep quickly; otherwise, you won’t endure.”

Lu Wu thought it over, ”Alright then, I’ll help Monarch Lu Xiang deliver these weapons out of the city and then go back to rest.”

Shu Yu nodded, and Lu Wu waved, instructing the laborers behind to arrange the weapons properly and transported them out.

The abandoned mansion was very close to the city outskirts, making it convenient to transport the weapons out from here.

It was already late by then, many people in the city had rushed to the county office, yet few ventured out in this area. Last night at the city gate, the incident was the biggest; nearby residents were scared enough not to dare step outside. Thus, the streets were quiet, allowing them to reach the city gate unimpeded.
