The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1710: Chapter 1710: Settling the Young Ladies

Not long after, besides those injured, another twenty or so people were captured and tied up in the infirmary.

Several others were cut down by random sword strikes, leaving their appearances rather tragic.

Meng Yunzheng counted the numbers and knew that about ten people were still unaccounted for; either they were too far away to hear the commotion, or they heard and simply hid.

He met with Old Master Yang and Lu Wu, and whispered, ”Let’s search the entire black market.”

Couldn’t let a few slip through the net, as few in number as they may be, capable of accomplishing great things, just like them. Just a few of them caused such turmoil in this vast black market where people can hide at any time.

Old Master Yang and the others had no objections, so they divided into groups of four and began a carpet search.

Meng Yunzheng took a few people directly to the third floor. If there were any slightly skilled people in this black market, they were likely to be on the third floor.

After they searched an area, they locked the door to prevent anyone from barging in.

On the second and third floors were a few girls, like Qiao Rou.

Earlier, when the beasts went berserk, they huddled together in fear. Once the chaos subsided, they were still too afraid to go out, so they stayed in one room, at least able to chat.

Who knew the turmoil would flare up again, with cries of fighting and killing from outside. They wished they could hide themselves completely, leaving not a trace exposed.

These people were left to Xia Yi to handle.

Xia Yi had been here long enough to be familiar with the origins of these girls.

Don’t be misled by those living on the second and third floors, who seem to enjoy a good life with the steward, but few do so willingly. They know all too well that this luxurious life is only temporary.

After all, they could be replaced at any time and sent away by the steward or given as rewards to his subordinates.

Just recently, a girl said the wrong thing and displeased Third Young Master Wu, and was directly sent to the Dueling Field to feed the beasts. The girl had been with Third Young Master Wu for quite some time, adored one day and torn to pieces the next.

All the girls witnessed that scene, and those who could get close to the steward weren’t blind to the situation. So, given a choice, they’d never want to stay in this black market, living in constant fear.

Thus, when Xia Yi stirred them a little, the girls immediately followed her, and some even provided hiding spots for the mountain bandits.

Xia Yi led them back to the cells, letting them stay with the other girls, to avoid getting caught by any stragglers.

On the way, Qiao Rou glanced at Xia Yi once, twice, then moved closer after a while, whispering, ”You, when you came to me before, was it to get information on purpose?”

Ever since she saw the completely different Xia Yi, she wondered if she was hallucinating.

After hearing her words and recalling the chaos in the black market today, Qiao Rou quickly connected the dots.

Thinking that the disorder in the black market might be related to her, she felt inexplicably scared.

Xia Yi raised an eyebrow at her, ”Better to act like you don’t know about things you shouldn’t know. It’s not in your interest otherwise.”

Qiao Rou thought it reasonable, nodded, and said nothing more.

After settling the girls, Xia Yi explained the current situation to those in the cells.

Hearing that things were progressing smoothly, everyone was instantly beside themselves with excitement.
