The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1691: Chapter 1691: The Collapsing Mountain Bandit

Xia Yi is a Hidden Guard by the Emperor’s side. Though not among the top tier, her skills are undoubtedly remarkable.

With her help, it would certainly be easier to take Guo’s life.

After a moment of thought, Meng Yunzheng agreed, ”Alright, then come with me.”

Having said that, he turned to Shu Yu, ”Yu, I’ll leave things here to you. I’ll be back soon.”

Shu Yu looked serious, ”Be careful, safety first.”

Meng Yunzheng packed up and left all the medicine packs he had with Shu Yu, including those antidotes. In case someone breaks in while he’s away, these might come in handy.

Meng Pei wanted to hand his sword to Xia Yi, but she refused, ”I’ll find one outside, keep your sword for yourself. It’s not necessarily safe here either.”

Thinking it over, Meng Pei realized this was true. He’s injured, his brother is on the verge of death, Young Master He is not capable, and Shu Yu is the only one left with some capability and wit. They can’t rely on her alone.

So he took back his sword.

No time to waste, Meng Yunzheng and Xia Yi prepared to set out immediately.

However, just as they opened the door, the mountain bandit suddenly broke down, ”What exactly are you trying to do? Huh?”

At first, he felt quite confused, but after listening in, he was dumbfounded.

Why did Xia Yi know more than he did? She wasn’t the same timid and weak girl who had just come out of the dungeon. The aura she just emanated was like that of a blood-stained assassin; for a moment, he even found her terrifying.

And wasn’t Young Master Meng supposed to rescue his uncle? Now that the man is right before them, why aren’t they leaving?

What’s this about not sparing Steward Guo? What are they planning? Could it be they want to kill Steward Guo?

The mountain bandit’s head buzzed, and his legs began to weaken. Seeing Meng Yunzheng and Xia Yi about to head out, he finally couldn’t help but call out.

Meng Yunzheng merely looked back at him and said, ”Can’t you see? We’re going to kill someone.”

He, he, he understood, and that’s precisely why he felt a chill all over, his face turning pale.

”If you don’t want to die, stay in line,” Meng Yunzheng coldly withdrew his gaze. When he saw Xia Yi had already opened the door and that there was no danger outside, the two of them swiftly slipped out.

Young Master He quickly locked the door, let out a breath, and turned around, ”Are we just going to wait here? What do we do next?”

He was looking at Meng Pei, but Meng Pei turned to Shu Yu, and Shu Yu... looked at the mountain bandit.

The mountain bandit shivered, quietly shrinking into the corner, cautiously asking, ”Who, who exactly are you? You’re not here to save someone, right?”

First, they let loose the beasts, causing chaos among the black market people. Now, having saved someone, they aren’t leaving but want to kill the black market steward instead.

The mountain bandit suddenly realized that leading them and telling them about the black market’s situation might not necessarily get him the antidote in the end.

They are unscrupulous. If they can kill Steward Guo, they can surely kill him too.

No, he has to save himself.

Just now, he saw that Young Master Meng gave the antidote to the girl beside him. This girl... has a sleeve arrow on her wrist. She was the one who first shot him, and now her wrist is still bandaged.

He, he doesn’t seem to be able to defeat her, can’t save himself, what should he do?

Shu Yu just looked at him, seeing his eyes dart around, she raised an eyebrow and asked, ”What, planning to play tricks, want to snatch the antidote? Do you know which one’s the antidote? You...”
