The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1660: Chapter 1660: He Was There at the Time

Shu Yu understood that Yuan Gui had no ties left in Dongan Province, but here, he had someone to care for.

”So why did you appear in Chenggu County town now?”

Yuan Gui exhaled lightly, ”It was a coincidence. A few days ago, Granny had a fall. Not only did she injure her leg, but she also strained her back. The village physician happened to be absent, and I heard there was a doctor in the county town skilled in treating such injuries. So, I brought her to the town for a consultation. I thought it had been so long, and my appearance in the county town shouldn’t be a problem. Besides, Jiang Kuanyu wouldn’t be staying in a small county town.”

Who would have thought, instead of encountering Jiang Kuanyu, he ended up facing the mountain bandits entering the town.

Granny was old, and Yuan Gui was unfamiliar with Chenggu County. That day, after entering the town, he spent a long time inquiring before finally finding out about the physician’s clinic. There were many people at the clinic, and they had to wait in line until the afternoon. By the time they finished, it was too late to leave the town.

The two had no choice but to spend a bit of money to stay overnight at the clinic.

However, that very night, the mountain bandits stormed into the county town, throwing the entire Chenggu County into chaos.

The clinic where they were staying was fortunate; it was quite secluded and remained unharmed.

It was said that a significant number of mountain bandits broke into the largest clinic in town that night. Not only were the medicines there looted, but half of the courtyard was also burnt down.

The next day, Yuan Gui planned to take Granny back to the village immediately.

Unexpectedly, the city gates were closed, and no one was allowed to enter or exit freely.

At that time, many people were causing a commotion at the city gates, but it was to no avail.

Yuan Gui had no choice but to bring Granny back to the clinic, but the clinic was closing and did not plan on continuing to accommodate them.

Yuan Gui was at a loss. They wanted to stay at an inn, but the inns had also suffered misfortune. The few that were unharmed were raising their prices exorbitantly, demanding as much as one tael of silver for a night’s stay.

They didn’t have that much money; they couldn’t leave the town, had nowhere to stay, and no one knew how long the gates would remain closed. Granny’s injuries were still not healed, and Yuan Gui truly felt helpless at that moment.

Later, it was Granny who mentioned that she had an old friend they could possibly stay with for a few days.

That friend took them in, but the household was quite poor, and life was not easy for them either.

At least they had a place to stay and a roof over their heads. However, upon learning that Yuan Gui was a hunter with good skills, the family was quite pleased. After all, the chaos hadn’t fully subsided, and having someone strong and skilled in martial arts gave them a sense of security.

”Granny and I stayed at that household for quite a number of days. We hardly went out except when necessary. A few days ago, Granny ran out of herbal ointment for her injuries, so I went out to the clinic to buy some, and happened to see Jiang Kuanyu.”

Yuan Gui was anxious to avoid Jiang Kuanyu and originally wanted to hide.

However, when he saw Jiang Kuanyu, the latter appeared to be injured. Yuan Gui felt reluctant to walk away. He had saved him from falling off a cliff, yet he had been forced to hide in the village with nowhere to go.

So, seeing him all alone and injured, he followed him. Some matters, once encountered, cannot be left unexamined.

”I saw Jiang Kuanyu sneak past the patrolling soldiers into the courtyard of the Meng family escort agency through a small alley. I didn’t know what the situation was inside and didn’t dare to enter recklessly, so I waited outside. Shortly after, a fight broke out inside the escort agency. When Jiang Kuanyu came out, he didn’t have any injuries at all, and I realized that he had probably played some sinister trick.”
