The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1679: Chapter 1679: Finding Uncle Meng

Xia Yi decided not to wait any longer. She immediately withdrew her gaze and turned to run toward the address given by Qiao Rou.

Qiao Rou said the person Jiang Kuanyu brought back two days ago was locked in the warehouse on the far left.

She didn’t understand why the person was locked in the warehouse, but as long as they were there, it was fine.

Xia Yi’s steps were swift, and it didn’t take long for her to reach the outside of the warehouse. There was a person guarding the door. Seeing her run over, he instantly drew the knife from his waist and pointed it at her, ”Who are you?”

Xia Yi wore a frantic expression, tears streaming down her face as soon as she saw him, ”It’s terrifying, big brother, it’s terrifying.”

The guard frowned, ”What’s the matter?”

”Over there, the beasts are loose. I don’t know how it happened, but those wild animals are eating people, and they’re coming this way. Big brother, help!”

As Xia Yi spoke, she ran to the side. The guard frowned; he did hear the screams coming from a distance away. Hearing now that the beasts had come out, he couldn’t help but walk forward.

With this step, his back was toward Xia Yi, who squinted her eyes, rushed at him, and suddenly knocked him against the wall while he was shocked by the scene outside.

”Ugh...” The guard cried in pain but didn’t have time to react. Xia Yi’s voice, filled with terror, came in quick succession near his ears, ”Here it comes, a wolf is coming from that side, help.”

The guard just wanted to turn his head to look when he felt his head being grabbed by a pair of hands, twisted violently, and he died on the spot.

Seeing this, Xia Yi exhaled a breath and stood up.

Fortunately, this area was quite secluded; no beasts came, and no one ran over.

She quickly found a key on the guard, opened the door swiftly, then dragged the guard inside and locked it behind her.

Upon turning around, she saw Uncle Meng, tied to a pillar and covered in blood, barely clinging to life.

Xia Yi’s expression tensed. She went forward to check his pulse; luckily, it was still beating, and he was alive.

She let out a sigh of relief, quickly untied him, laid him on the ground, and then pinched his philtrum to wake him up.

”Head Escort Meng?”

Uncle Meng opened his swollen eyes, his eyelashes were caked with blood. Xia Yi wiped them gently, speaking in a low voice, ”Head Escort Meng, are you okay? Can you leave with me?”

Uncle Meng only felt a blurred figure swaying in front of him, the voice distant yet seemingly close.

What made him feel unreal was that the person calling him seemed to be a girl?

He opened his mouth, his throat sore, his voice hoarse, ”You, you are...”

”Meng Yunzheng, Young Master Meng sent me. I’ll take you out now. After a while, you’ll need to muster some strength so I can support you as we walk. Otherwise, the people outside might suspect something.”

Xia Yi practiced martial arts, had great strength, and could carry Uncle Meng out directly. But here in the black market, she was just a delicate, weak girl, as if incapable of even killing a chicken. If she briskly carried a grown man, it would surely draw suspicion.

So she had to wake Uncle Meng. As long as his feet touched the ground, it was fine if all his weight was on her.

Uncle Meng was somewhat slow in reacting, only slowly realizing what Xia Yi had said after a while.

He was stunned, disbelief in his voice, ”Yunzheng?? It’s... Yunzheng... who, who asked you to come, came?”

”Not only him, but Lu Xiang, the Village Chief, is also outside. We just didn’t know where you were kept, so we had to split up. I’ll take you out now.”

Xia Yi turned around, flipped the guard she had dragged in earlier, and stripped all his clothes off him.
