The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1661: Chapter 1661: Yuan Gui Saw Everything

The sound of fighting from the escort agency naturally attracted others, with the patrolling soldiers arriving the fastest.

Yuan Gui hid in the corner and heard those soldiers say that the person surrounded and injured by several mountain bandits was the Head Escort from the Meng family’s escort agency. Head Escort Meng and those mountain bandits fought further and further away, quickly leaving the escort agency.

The soldiers chased after them, and after hesitating for a moment, Yuan Gui followed as well.

His speed was faster, and although he was not familiar with Chenggu County’s county town, he was very sensitive to the sounds of fighting, quickly moving towards the source of the sound.

“Later, I tracked them to this abandoned courtyard.”

Meng Qi became excited. They came out to find his father and Eldest Uncle, and now hearing from Yuan Gui about his father’s whereabouts, he hurriedly asked, “So you saw my father also enter this courtyard; do you know where he went in the end, is he okay?”

Yuan Gui was taken aback, “Your father?”

“The Head Escort from the Meng family’s escort agency you just mentioned.”

Yuan Gui’s eyes widened, “You are the Young Owner of the Meng family’s escort agency?”

Meng Qi nodded repeatedly, “Yes, we came out to look for my father.”

Yuan Gui pursed his lips and hesitated for a moment before saying, “When I entered, I only saw Head Escort Meng lying on the ground and being carried away by those mountain bandits. As for whether he’s okay, I don’t know.”

Seeing Meng Qi’s pale face, he quickly added, “But I think he’s likely fine; if something had happened to Head Escort Meng, there would be no reason for them to carry him away, right?”

Meng Qi thought about it and agreed, “Did you see where they carried my father to?”

Yuan Gui nodded, “They carried him into a room; there’s probably a secret passage in that room as they didn’t come out after going in.”

“Where is the room?”

Yuan Gui struggled to stand up, “I’ll take you there.”

But he was quite injured, so Meng Yunzheng simply carried him directly, “Show us the way.”

“Okay.”

Yuan Gui lay on his back and pointed to the left, “Over there, there’s a courtyard, very secluded, it’s the second room in the courtyard.”

The group quickened their pace, heading in the direction Yuan Gui pointed.

As Meng Yunzheng walked, he asked, “Besides the Meng family’s Head Escort, did you later see anyone else come in? A man in his forties, about the same height as me.”

He described Meng Pei’s appearance, and Yuan Gui frowned but shook his head and said, “No, when I saw them carrying Head Escort Meng into that room, I was considering whether to follow. But then I thought, since they had strength in numbers, and I was powerless alone, it’d be better to report to the officials. So, I planned to leave the courtyard, but when I reached this side, several mountain bandits came over, so I quickly hid in that abandoned house, intending to go out after the bandits left.”

“Who knew this hide would last for two days and nights, with those mountain bandits lingering nearby. If I had gone out, they would surely have noticed me. So, in these past two days, my range of activity has been limited, and I don’t know if anyone else has infiltrated this manor.”

He felt a bit apologetic, not being able to help much.

Meng Yunzheng pursed his lips but didn’t say much, only increasing his pace.

The group soon arrived at the secluded little courtyard Yuan Gui mentioned, where there weren’t many people around.

It was unclear if Yuan Gui’s earlier fight had drawn away the remaining mountain bandits guarding the courtyard or if no one had been stationed there to watch over it from the beginning.
