The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1654: Chapter 1654: There’s Something Wrong with This Courtyard

There was a murder, haunted?

Meng Yunzheng looked up at the high walls in front of him and glanced at Meng Qi, ”Then how do you know it so well?”

Meng Qi chuckled awkwardly, ”I didn’t know before. I accidentally ran in here to hide while skipping school. I only learned about it when I got home and my mother mentioned it. After that, I didn’t dare come again.”

Of course, mainly because this place is a bit far from the Meng family. If you go further left from this large courtyard, you’ll reach the city gate, while the Meng family is in the more central part of the county town; without any reason, I wouldn’t come running here.

Now that the situation is urgent, those ghost rumors are something we can’t worry about.

Meng Qi began to figure out how to break the lock on the small door. The lock was quite old, rusted, and not easy to open.

Meng Yunzheng saw him fidgeting for too long without a clue, pushed him aside, took out a dagger, and directly pried off the latch.

Meng Qi, ”...”

”Let’s go.”

Meng Qi quickly nodded, and the three of them consecutively squeezed through the small door.

It was evident that no one had been here for a long time; as soon as Meng Qi, who led the way, entered, he got a face full of spider webs.

He quickly removed it, and Shu Yu, who came in last, only had to deal with a bit of dust, which was much better.

The weeds inside were very tall, and the consequence of neglect was that these weeds blocked most of the view.

”Where’s the back door?” Meng Yunzheng asked.

Meng Qi quickly pointed to the left, ”Walk that way, across this large courtyard, that’s it.”

He led the way at the front, but who knew he would suddenly be pulled back by Meng Yunzheng after just a few steps.

Meng Qi turned his head abruptly, ”What is it?”

”No need to go.”

Meng Qi was confused, ”What do you mean?”

Meng Yunzheng walked towards the corridor beside them and saw a scratch mark on the pillar.

The scratch was not complicated, just a diagonal glance, adding a dot beside it.

Unremarkable, but to someone who knows, it’s obvious at a glance.

Coincidentally, Meng Yunzheng was that person who knew.

”This is a mark my father left me,” he said, ”I’ve seen the same mark on the street where we were searching for someone earlier. Only back then, someone was watching, so I didn’t mention it. I originally planned to return to that street and follow the marks, but unexpectedly, there’s one in this courtyard too, which means this place... has issues.”

For over a decade, Meng Yunzheng and Meng Pei had used many methods to avoid Gong Qiu.

Only they knew these markings, and the two had a tacit understanding. Meng Pei most likely guessed that Meng Yunzheng would come to Chenggu County.

After all, he always paid attention to the situation here, and if Chenggu County was the first point of incident, he definitely wouldn’t stand by idly.

No matter when he comes, making a mark is never wrong.

Meng Qi’s eyes slightly brightened, ”So, my father and Eldest Uncle might be here? Then let’s go find them quickly, this...”

”Shh.” Meng Yunzheng suddenly stopped him, his face changed, and he quickly turned his head.

Then they saw a man standing not far behind them, staring at them with wide eyes.

The next moment, he suddenly took out a whistle and was about to blow it.

Meng Qi was shocked, and Shu Yu, without a word, raised her hand and pressed the wrist arrow on her sleeve aimed at him.

With a ’whoosh’, the wrist arrow pierced the man’s arm, and the whistle fell to the ground from the pain.

The man screamed in pain, and without the whistle, he was about to shout loudly, but it was already too late. Meng Yunzheng quickly approached him, lifted his hand, and chopped him unconscious to the ground.
