The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1082: Chapter 1082: Board the Ship

Shu Yu gazed into the distance, thinking about what the staff had told her.

The house had remained unrepaired and unsold; perhaps that wasn’t necessarily because no one from the Meng family was here.

It’s possible that someone was watching not only in Tianning County but also on Uncle Meng’s side, where Gong Qiu had people.

”Miss, do you think Uncle Yan will be in trouble?”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”For now, definitely not.”

Hearing her say this so confidently, Ying Xi felt somewhat relieved.

The carriage traveled all the way to Huajiang Prefecture. It was still early, just late at night.

Shu Yu asked Ying Xi, ”Do you want to go see your mother?”

After Ying Xi’s mother remarried, she married into the Ying Family in this prefecture. After passing away, she was likely buried with Father Ying.

Who knew that Ying Xi would shake her head, her expression bitter, ”I don’t know where my mother’s grave is, nor do I know if they... have been properly laid to rest. When the Ying Family was in trouble, everyone was imprisoned. My parents died in prison, and if there was no one to handle matters outside, we might not have even been able to retrieve their bodies.”

After Ying Xi and her siblings were released from prison, they were sold off. They were sold to Dongan Province, having no chance to return or find a way to inquire.

Later, she was sold to Jiangyuan County and became the Miss’s close maid, which gave her the opportunity to return and take a look.

At that time, other members of the Ying Family were also sold off, so Ying Xi doesn’t know where her parents’ bodies are or if they were properly buried.

Seeing this, Shu Yu patted her on the shoulder, ”It’s okay. When we come back from the capital and are not pressed for time, you can inquire carefully then.”

Ying Xi’s eyes brightened slightly, ”When we return, will we pass through Huajiang Prefecture again?”

”We will.” When they return, the issue with Gong Qiu will have been resolved.

If Meng Yunzheng knows that Uncle Yan is still in Tianning County, he would definitely come back to see him. At that time, they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone watching Uncle Yan anymore.

In that case, Ying Xi would have enough time to inquire about her mother and stepfather.

Ying Xi’s eyes turned slightly red, ”Thank you, Miss.”

Compared to Father Lin, who passed away when she was five, Ying Xi spent more time with her mother, deepening their bond. She certainly hoped to be able to see her.

As they were speaking, the carriage slowly arrived at the dock.

The ship Shu Yu had booked was loading cargo over there and seemed like it would take some time.

Shu Yu greeted the ship owner and wandered around the dock until the loading was almost complete, then boarded the merchant ship along with the other passengers.

The carriage had already been loaded, but Shu Yu and Ying Xi had only booked their room yesterday. As it was too late and rushed, the position wasn’t very good.

The rooms on the upper two levels were gone, so Shu Yu could only stay in the lower cabin.

The cabin below didn’t have a window, and not only was it very poorly ventilated, but it was also damp with a strong odor.

Shu Yu went in for just a moment before coming back out. She stood on the deck, looking at the rooms on the upper levels enviously.

It seemed she could only wait to see if anyone disembarks at the next stop, and then ask if she could change rooms.

For now, aside from the necessary time for sleep at night, Shu Yu was unwilling to return there.

The merchant ship began to move, and Shu Yu took a small stool to sit on the deck, watching the rippling river waters while taking in the scenery along the river.

Ying Xi handed over a water satchel, ”Miss, do you feel uncomfortable?”

She knew that some people get dizzy and uncomfortable on a ship.
