The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1077: Chapter 1077: Meng Yunzheng’s Hometown

Ying Xi returned and as soon as she spoke, Shu Yu made a prompt decision to visit Tianning County that day.

They quickly arranged with the boss of a merchant ship to take a boat the next noon, paid a deposit, and then headed straight to Tianning County with Ying Xi.

Tianning County is not far from the prefecture, and Huajiang Prefecture is a transport hub, so Tianning County is equally bustling.

Shu Yu sat in the carriage entering the city, observing an atmosphere completely different from Jiangyuan County.

“Do you know where the Quansheng Escort Agency used to be?”

Ying Xi shook her head, “I was only three when I left Tianning County, so I’ve forgotten many things.”

Take Meng Yunzheng, for instance; she had actually seen him as a child, but over the years, how could she still remember him?

Though she returned to Tianning County twice after her father passed away.

Father Lin was buried outside the city, making their visits to worship him quite inconvenient, and with time being tight, they could barely glance before leaving, with hardly any chance to enter the city and revisit their old home.

If Ying Dong were there, he might have recognized it.

Ying Xi truly had no recollection at all.

“But I heard my brother mention that the Quansheng Escort Agency is on South Fifth Street.” Whether at the street’s start or end, she wasn’t sure.

South Fifth Street?

Shu Yu nodded in understanding, and they inquired about the location of South Fifth Street, learning it wasn’t too far from the city gate, so they simply found an inn nearby to settle in first.

Then Shu Yu said to Ying Xi, “While the day is still young, go buy some incense paper money and visit your father outside the city. You can drive the carriage; I will stroll around South Fifth Street.”

“Miss, let me accompany you, I…”

“No need,” Shu Yu waved her hand, “We’re leaving early tomorrow, and you won’t have time to visit your father then, so you must go now.”

Ying Xi gritted her teeth but eventually nodded.

Shu Yu reminded her, “Remember to return before the city gate closes, don’t delay too long.”

It was already early afternoon, and she needed to buy things, leave the city, and climb the mountain, time was indeed a bit tight.

Ying Xi nodded, not dawdling, and drove the carriage away from the inn.

After she left, Shu Yu changed her clothes and began wandering slowly towards South Fifth Street.

South Fifth Street wasn’t far from here, just a fifteen-minute walk.

But the street was rather long, and the specific location of the Quansheng Escort Agency remained unknown, so she had to search slowly.

Shu Yu observed the surrounding scenery; was this where Meng Yunzheng lived as a child?

She wondered if much had changed over the decade; if he returned, would he still recognize it?

The street was bustling, with plenty of shops around, not solely residential buildings.

As Shu Yu contemplated, she noticed a somewhat dilapidated courtyard not far away.

Almost without asking, Shu Yu knew this was the Quansheng Escort Agency.

The courtyard was quite large, but half of it had been burned, while the other half was still surrounded by high walls, though long neglected, with large patches of scorched black on the walls, giving an impression of collapse.

Shu Yu stood at the entrance, raising her eyes to the house before her. No mistake, this must be the Quansheng Escort Agency that was set on fire all those years ago.

After surveying for a moment, her gaze fell on a tattered beggar in the corner of the wall.

The beggar appeared somewhat aged, holding a broken bowl, which was dirty, with not a single copper coin inside.
