My Alleged Husband

Chapter 588: Chapter 567: Making a Stand_1

”Chen Gang, we’ve already made things quite clear between us, haven’t we? Some things needn’t continue to happen—don’t you think?

Actually, I really don’t understand. By clinging to my wife, what benefit do you see for yourself? You know full well she’s with me, that she gave birth to my son because of me. Our life together used to be so blissfully happy. Why must you come and disturb our peace?

Don’t spew those false words to deceive me. Your lies may fool my wife, but they are useless against me. Why bring up such things and make it ugly for both of us? I believe my wife has already told you clearly, it’s best for both of you not to contact each other in the future. If you insist on bothering her, I will have no choice but to take legal action!”

Zhang Yichen’s heart was ablaze with rage. No man can stand to see his wife coveted by another.

Yet in society, one cannot be too reckless. We live under the rule of law. How can I easily snuff out this situation? If I did, wouldn’t the law punish me? It’s simply not worth it to risk my entire future over this person.

”What right do you have to talk about me?

You really believe your wife loves only you? If that were true, she wouldn’t sneak out to see me in the middle of the night. Even if she said those things, in my heart, she still has a place for me. Otherwise, how could she cry uncontrollably when she saw you attack me last weekend?

It’s clearly your intrusion that has twisted the relationship between her and me. In fact, you’re the third party. You’ve prevented me from being with the one I cherish. Since I can’t be happy, why should I let you continue happily? Why should I just hand over what I can’t have?

”She’s not an object; she’s a living person. No matter how she treats me, I can’t bring myself to give her up!

She’s my wife. No matter what she’s done, I, as her husband, cannot remain indifferent. My heart is in pain, but I know that you manipulated that situation. You plotted against her, so why should she be guiltless? Why should she face the consequences with you?”

Chen Gang was genuinely surprised by the depth of this man’s love for the woman he cherished. To tolerate his woman being touched by another—to endure such a thing—required immense resilience.

And yet, he wouldn’t give up his stance, determined to stick to his own beliefs. He wouldn’t take anyone’s word for it, knowing that the path one forges on their own is the only truth.

”I must say, you men have quite the craftiness, the deep schemes. But do you understand? The one thing I fear least in the world is people who are crafty. Nothing you do poses any danger to me. You can torment me, make me wish for death, you can ensure I’ll never live freely again, but you can’t stop me from loving the woman I adore. My love for her is no less than yours. If another man touched my woman, I would not hesitate to kill.

I wouldn’t be like you, pretending to be generous while your heart bleeds from another man touching your beloved. It might not be a big deal for you. But to someone as possessive as I am, it’s impossible. I could never let someone who’s touched the person I care about continue living in this world, as it would only be a constant reminder of my disgrace...”

Zhang Yichen smiled.

Chen Gang couldn’t understand why Zhang Yichen would smile.

”Why are you laughing? Do you think you’re in any position to laugh about this? The moment she sneaked out to meet me behind your back, it proved she has me in her heart. She just doesn’t know how to deal, doesn’t know how to give up a relationship that should’ve never started. Do you get it?”

”Chen Gang, you’re really quite foolish. Sometimes, your stupidity embarrasses me. You’re just trying to provoke me, push me into killing you and breaking the law. That way, neither you nor I could have her, and I might even end up in jail, never to be free again. But do you realize that, for the sake of my company and family, I wouldn’t do such a thing? I have a child, I have a wife and grandchildren. What do you have? No matter how good your parents are to you, what use is that? Your parents would never accept my wife being with you. Once she divorces me, she has nowhere to go. Your family won’t let her be with you, not when she’s a divorced woman who has had another man’s child...

So, in some ways, you’re just naive and foolish. Many things could be easily understood, yet you refuse to see. Because to you, it’s all just a joke. You don’t care about how others feel. You don’t care about the suffering your beloved will go through. All that matters to you is the flutter in your own heart.

You think I don’t deserve to be with the woman I love. So, are you any more deserving? I can give her everything; I would lay down my life for her. But you say the same. Yet, if she doesn’t love you in her heart, a marriage without love won’t last. If so, why insist on keeping her by your side, making everyone miserable?”

”Maybe you think I’m selfish, or that I have an ulterior motive. But I’m telling you, I’d rather we all suffer together than let you two be happy while I’m left to bear all the pain alone. My life is too full of sorrow to keep living weak and powerless as I did before!”
