My Alleged Husband

Chapter 573: Chapter 552 Evidence Speaks_1

Ran Zhihan knew that at this time, if he appeared guilty, it would only complicate matters further. The more critical the moment, the more he had to steel himself to fight against false accusations. Why should he be blamed for something he hadn’t done? All he wanted was a stable life; why had it become so difficult?

”Which eye of yours saw me going out and being with someone else? Also, can you stop slapping labels on me just because you’re suspicious? If you have any dissatisfaction with me, speak it out. Don’t just assume everything is me betraying you. Who knows whether you haven’t done anything to be sorry about? Put yourself in my shoes. The only thing I want is a steady life, nothing more. If you could give me such a life, I’d be forever grateful. If not, I won’t leave you. But please, can you stop doubting me and give a little more trust that a husband and wife should have?”

”Don’t you find it funny to be saying such words to me?” he retorted. ”You ask for more trust, but do your actions deserve the trust I’ve given? Haven’t I trusted you enough? No matter how much I trust you, the things you do always seem to hurt me. Do you really see me as your husband? I am a person, not a puppet. I have my own thoughts, my own soul. I know what I should or shouldn’t do. I’ve placed you so high, treated you so well, yet you sneak out in the middle of the night to meet someone. Can you clarify this to me?”

There are things you can’t just escape from. If I didn’t have solid evidence, I wouldn’t be saying this. Even though I don’t have evidence now, I can obtain it very soon. I hope, for your sake, that I never find the proof because, if I do, you can forget about ever reuniting with me. I’ve already spoken my mind; do you still refuse to tell the truth?”

Ran Zhihan’s heart was uncertain of what to do. He knew the man in front of him was an economic titan capable of anything he set his mind to. Yet, if he revealed the truth now, what kind of end would he face?

”Like I said, bring out the evidence if you want to accuse me. Don’t keep trying to pin things on me again and again. I’m not a pretty boy who’ll let you boss around, treating me hot and cold just because you’re rich. Do you always think I’m with you for the money? The thing I care about the least in this life is money. I could spend a lifetime with someone penniless, but I absolutely can’t live with someone who doubts and mistrusts me all the time. That would crush my soul!”

”Even now, you choose not to speak the truth. This proves that in your heart, I don’t exist. What I want is a wife who can be honest with me, whose every word comes from the heart, not someone who keeps playing games with me.

I remember you had a junior high classmate, didn’t you? He went crazy chasing after you while you studied together. That feeling of unrequited love is something anyone can understand.

I’ve heard he just came back from abroad. I want to ask you, do you know about this? Did you sneak out to see him behind my back? Speak the truth; this is your last chance. After that, you won’t get another!”

Ran Zhihan knew in his heart that since his husband had said this was the last chance, it really was. If he missed it, he’d have no chance to save their marriage. He said nothing, just hung his head and spoke to his husband, ”Ah, yes, I did meet him tonight. He didn’t do anything; we just walked around a bit and had a meal. That’s all.”

”Did I say you two did something else? Why are you so nervous? Does this mean you have a guilty conscience?” he replied. ”Did a simple meal and a walk take that long? Don’t you realize you’re a married woman? Coming home this late into the night, do you think that’s appropriate? Is that what a wife should be doing? Don’t you know your son is at home, needing your care?”

”I’ve kept quiet about many things to save face for both of us, thinking that exposing them would benefit no one and only lead to awkwardness. You’ve kept me in the dark, meeting other men repeatedly. This time I can’t forgive you so easily!”

”In the end, you underestimated your husband’s abilities. Even though you knew I could easily investigate everything, you still chose to sneak out and meet him. This shows you don’t believe in my abilities to watch your every move. Ever since the last incident, unbeknownst to you, I’ve had someone secretly following you, because I wanted to know what you do every day. But this time, I’m truly disappointed.

”Through the previous incidents, I’ve gradually changed my attitude toward you, while you haven’t taken to heart changing yours. I won’t forgive your wrongdoings so easily this time. I hope you understand the price you have to pay for your mistakes. I’m not like others who can be easily pushed around!”

”This time, your attitude has brought us to this state. I can’t change too much anymore for the sake of past issues, because you’re not worth it!”

”I’m sorry, I was wrong, I really won’t do it again. I won’t sneak out to meet anyone again. Even if I go out, I’ll tell you. Please don’t be angry. Trust me this time; I really won’t do it again...” she pleaded.

”Trust is built between two people, not from a few words of begging for forgiveness. Do you think you deserve my trust now? Have you thought about the consequences of what you’ve done? When you did it, didn’t you think how it would crush me, knowing the truth? In your heart, there’s no place for me or this family...”

......

”Think it over!”
