My Alleged Husband

Chapter 570: Chapter 549: The Three-Year Agreement_1

In fact, Zhang Zhentian was very clear in his heart that if he lost this opportunity, he might lose the woman he loved the most forever. Yet, he couldn’t face everything, he had no reason to win her back.

All of these mistakes were his own doing. After all, he had hurt the woman he loved the most, and it was by his own hand that he had pushed her away.

He knew very well that some mistakes, once made, can never be made right again, and that once certain mistakes are finalized, no one would let them continue. He was well aware of that, which was why his heart was filled with even more pain. Although he knew that not all the mistakes were his main fault, he had to bear all the blame. To regain his wife’s admiration, he had to shoulder the responsibility that a man should bear.

”Since we’ve come this far, let’s not say anything else now and peacefully say our last farewell!

Actually, you are still a decent man at the end of the day. You just chose the wrong path. Everything you’ve done has forced me to reflect on whether being with you was right or wrong. You never thought about how you should treat our lives together, but only pondered commanding me with your rights and desires. You never considered what I truly wanted, and whether you could give it to me or not!

I hope you can remember that love is mutual. It’s not about one person selflessly giving and the other waiting endlessly for that giving to be returned. Such love is not love at all, but rather the relationship between a creditor and a debtor. I hope that one day you can understand my good intentions.

I must admit, during the decade or so we’ve been together, there were times when my heart truly suffered. You could never understand what I wanted, and what you gave me was only pressure and hurt. I kept consoling myself, thinking if one day you could realize your mistakes, treat me right, and give me everything I wanted, then I would stay by your side for life, no matter the grievances I had to endure. But now I realize that you woke up too late, and I simply don’t have the patience to wait for that day. I’m impatient by nature; I can’t silently wait over and over for someone’s awakening like others do for the sake of their families. All I want is to achieve my dreams and everything I desire as soon as possible. Perhaps after this incident, your heart will be in pain. Whether you hate me or not, I don’t care anymore. After all, I was wrong. I hurt you, damaged our most sincere feelings, and there’s no way for me to make amends for that. I also hope you won’t use any means to stop me from leaving. Now that everything’s been made clear, perhaps it’s best to let me go out on my own. It’s good everywhere under the heavens. Don’t use your so-called love to keep me chained by your side...”

”Since you’ve decided to leave, nothing I say will make you stay. Why should I desperately beg you if it only allows you to trample my dignity again? I want to live a happy life, be an upright man with responsibility and integrity. Maybe you’ll never see that day in your eyes, but I want you to believe that heaven helps those who help themselves. As long as I am determined to be a responsible man, no matter what, I can fulfill my dreams. I will use my strength to make you proud of me, not a man you think of leaving for any reason.”

Don’t worry, this mistake isn’t only yours, how could I choose to hate you? You will always be the woman I love the most in my heart. I will only treasure you as a memory, silently recalling every path we walked together and the times we suffered or savored joys together. Those days will never come back. You’ve decided to leave, and nothing I say will bring you back to me. So, I only hope to keep the last piece of my dignity. How can a man who doesn’t have even this love the woman he deeply loves?

Maybe what I did before made you despise me, but I hope you understand that everything that happened, I did out of true love for you. That’s why I hurt you. Now I finally realize that no matter how much I loved you before, the fact that I hurt you cannot be erased by any apologies. That pain will always be buried in your heart. You’re also afraid because of the hurt I inflicted on you, aren’t you?

I hope we can make a three-year pact. If after three years you see that I’m a completely different man, a responsible, courageous, and committed one, then I hope you can give me another chance. Come back to my side, so that we can create our own world, and stay together forever, in mutual trust and commitment.”

”If you really do become completely different from before, I am willing to give you another chance and give myself one as well, to continue those happy times we had before, without any doubts, and to truly trust each other, believing that everything we do is for the best.”

Zhang Zhentian knew this was the biggest concession Xia Jing could make.

Therefore, what right did she have to further press someone to atone for their mistakes on her behalf? Since it had come to this, he could only agree to the three-year pact. In three years, he would change completely, so his beloved would be willing to come back to him not because of his forceful demands, but willingly, to stay by his side for life.

”Since you’ve agreed, let us both remember this three-year pact firmly. Let’s not destroy it for any reason. It’s a promise to ourselves...”
