Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2684: Chapter 1926: Family Celebrities

Robert’s return to the family was met with attention and preferential treatment. This news spread quickly, becoming widely known. Among the brothers and sisters of the same generation in the family, there was endless gossip behind closed doors.

Even Robert, such a failure, could turn his fortunes around, which indeed caught many by surprise.

However, there were more and more people actively visiting Robert to express their concerns and inquiries.

That’s how people are; when one is down on their luck, others avoid them like the plague. But once things turn around, those who previously dismissed and mocked now emerge with extraordinary concern.

The Robert of today was not the Robert of the past. He handled these interpersonal dealings with such ease, surprising everyone once again.

No one expected Robert to have grown so much during his time in Western Africa, despite being ostracized.

When Caroline inquired about Robert from her confidant, this was also explained to her in detail.

Caroline sat on the sofa, listening with one hand supporting her chin, showing some interest.

”Why don’t I summon Mr. Robert so you can meet him,” suggested the confidant who was reporting, noticing her interest.

Caroline waved her hand dismissively, speaking lightly, ”Let’s just forget it. Even with these improvements, he’s just an ordinary person in the family. If I must show such concern over this, what would I do when he actually achieves something substantial? Wouldn’t I have to go out of my way to congratulate him?”

In truth, Caroline still held some disdain for her younger brother.

Actually, she wasn’t just targeting Robert; to her, anyone in the family, from elders to peers, seemed utterly useless.

The confidant quickly nodded in agreement with Caroline’s words.

At this moment, Caroline’s study door was knocked on.

The confidant walked over, opened the door slightly, exchanged a few words with the person outside, then returned.

”What is it?” Caroline asked casually, intending to carefully read a family business report she had picked up.

”It’s Mr. Robert; he wants to see you. He’s waiting outside,” the confidant reported. ”Mr. Robert also says he has brought you an important message.”

Caroline raised an eyebrow slightly, showing a smile.

”Oh, an important message for me? How interesting. Did he say the same at the family meeting?”

”Yes,” the confidant nodded.

Caroline put down the report in her hand and instructed the confidant, ”Go ahead and let him in. I also want to chat with him and see what progress he’s made. Plus, I’m curious about the important message he brought me.”

Regarding matters in Western Africa, especially in the Oshan Chieftaincy, Caroline recently felt a bit ”information-blocked.”

Initially, she wasn’t an omniscient person specializing in intelligence gathering. Further complicating matters was Lisa’s framing of Bai Xiaosheng, leading to a thorough investigation by Oshan, disturbing Caroline significantly. Even though she knew Bai Xiaosheng was there, she refrained from sending anyone over.

Adding to that, she has been busy dealing with Lu Cheng’an and Li Yunyuan, two deputy directors. So she’s still unaware of Bai Xiaosheng becoming Eisenlag’s Chieftain.

After all, such news appeared only in an official announcement.

Beyond that, there was nothing more.

Given Bai Xiaosheng’s low-profile approach, the media didn’t extensively report.

Honestly, who would care about whether an additional chieftain appeared in a cross-continental country, let alone who or what their name is?

Regarding the Anlos Family and Lorna’s affair, because it dragged on for a long time and was subject to gossip, those around Caroline were discussing it fervently, which she was aware of.

With Caroline’s instructions, her confidant promptly nodded and retreated.

Before long, Robert entered through the door.

Caroline remained seated, her head raised as she looked at him with a faint, seemingly amused smile.

”Caroline sister,” Robert said warmly, carrying a pile of things. ”It’s so good to see you again! Why did you return so late? Have you had supper yet?”

In Caroline’s eyes, Robert’s enthusiasm lacked the obsequiousness it once had.

At the time when he was expelled from the family, he had begged, flattered, and cried — truly unmanly!

It made her feel disgusted.

Now, his demeanor and actions were much improved.

”Robert, it’s been a while,” Caroline smiled lightly. ”You’ve matured quite a bit.”

”It’s all thanks to your guidance, Caroline sister,” Robert moved forward, placing the items on a nearby table. ”These are the gifts I brought for you from Western Africa: diamonds, silverware, sculptures, ceramic pieces, each one carefully selected.”

Learnt how to handle social interactions and connect sibling relationships? He indeed has made progress.

Caroline chuckled, ”You’ve truly put thought into this, Robert. At the time, I vigorously advocated sending you to Western Africa for training, purely for your own good. It seems that it has indeed benefited you, which pleases me greatly.”

With those words, Caroline essentially transformed a previous malicious act into one of kind intent.

Robert looked genuinely grateful and sincere, saying, ”I actually didn’t understand at the time, and even felt resentment towards you behind your back, Caroline sister. But after some advice from those around me, I realized your good intentions. I’m truly thankful for the experiences I’ve had outside!”

Caroline smiled lightly, gazing into Robert’s eyes.

Robert didn’t flinch, his gaze sincere.

”Alright, let’s not dwell on these things. Welcome back, my brother,” Caroline said with a smile. ”I heard you have an important message for me— what is it?”

Upon hearing this, Robert immediately leaned in, adopting a mysterious expression, ”Caroline sister, do you remember Bai Xiaosheng? The one who caused your campaign to fail and even led to my leg being broken!”
