Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2676: Chapter 1923: The Fastest Rescue in History

After finishing the statement, Robert still hadn’t fully recovered. Bai Xiaosheng, somehow, had such clout that he could see the chief as soon as he arrived.

Even the young officer taking Robert’s statement was unusually patient and enthusiastic, meticulously asking about every detail.

Even the anxious Robert felt that the inquiry was incredibly thorough.

Before long, the door to the office opened and a group of people came bustling in.

The officer taking Robert’s statement immediately stood and saluted.

Only then did Robert realize that the person in the lead was an elderly black man, not very tall, with a face full of wrinkles, yet his body was strong, and his eyes were sharp.

It was Chief Hank of the Eisenlag Central District Police Station, and Robert actually knew him.

After all, Robert was considered a business figure locally and would often attend social events where he met important people, although only some of these encounters led to further interactions.

After all, although Robert’s family had some standing in North America, they weren’t as well-known in Oshan and naturally weren’t given much attention.

However, at this moment, as soon as Chief Hank arrived and saw Robert, he gravely shook hands with him and said, ”Mr. Robert, I already understand the situation here! Rest assured and trust us, we will definitely rescue Miss Lorna safely! We won’t let any citizen of Eisenlag remain in danger! It’s been less than twelve hours, which is the prime time for rescue!”

These words, which were almost like ”comfort,” left Robert somewhat bewildered.

He naturally hoped Lorna’s situation would be taken seriously, but hearing such solemn words from Chief Hank made it hard for him to believe.

Was it necessary for Chief Hank to personally come, when all he needed to do was prompt his subordinates?

”You are absolutely right,” Robert mumbled.

As he responded, he couldn’t help but glance at Bai Xiaosheng beside him.

He had heard that Oshan apologized to Bai Xiaosheng for his unreasonable detention, perhaps granting him some privileges in private.

Was Bai Xiaosheng using this incident now?

Robert was full of suspicion, yet also felt a deepening sense of gratitude from his heart towards Bai Xiaosheng.

After this incident, alongside the business interests with Bai Xiaosheng, there was undeniably now a layer of personal emotion added in.

Bai Xiaosheng gave a mild smile to Robert without explaining.

After ”comforting” Robert, Chief Hank turned to Bai Xiaosheng and smiled broadly, ”Rest assured, everything will be fine!”

Even the way Chief Hank addressed Bai Xiaosheng was different; he actually used an honorific!

Robert looked at Bai Xiaosheng in astonishment, inexplicably feeling as if Bai Xiaosheng was like Hank’s superior...

This feeling must be wrong, Robert darkly thought to himself.

In fact, he was not entirely wrong; Bai Xiaosheng, as a Chieftain, could influence or even decide the appointments of any official in Eisenlag.

At this moment, a newcomer arrived at the back of the crowd, the middle-aged detective from before.

Chief Hank saw him, waved immediately, and the detective hurried over.

”Has everyone been notified?” Chief Hank asked sternly.

”All officers without urgent cases have been notified and are gathering equipment; they can set off in five minutes,” the middle-aged detective reported.

In any case, this level of response instantly invigorated Robert.

With this action, he believed news on Lorna would come soon... Robert felt hope rising within him.

”What about the Tactical and Rescue Task Force?” Chief Hank asked.

Hearing this name, Robert froze inwardly.

That was the renowned special police unit of Eisenlag and even Oshan, well-equipped with everything from infantry vehicles to helicopters.

If they were joining the search and rescue, hope would greatly increase!

”Teams one, two, and three are ready and will depart simultaneously...” the middle-aged detective replied.

Just the Tactical and Rescue Task Force alone consisted of three teams! Robert was uplifted by this news.

Chief Hank waved his hand to cut the detective off, commanding, ”Everyone.”

The middle-aged detective was momentarily taken aback.

Chief Hank decisively said, ”Except for the team on duty, call in all members of the special units, all helicopters, and armored vehicles. Deploy them all for me. Additionally, have the department’s technical team recall all members; mobilize radios, cameras, everything for me!”

”Moreover, have everyone activate their informants and start scouring for any possible clues right away...”

”Also...”

As Chief Hank gave orders, the middle-aged detective nodded without hesitation and finally turned and left.

Robert listened with his mouth agape.

This kind of mobilization, even if the mayor of Eisenlag were missing, might only warrant such a reaction...

Could it be that Lorna had some other identity?

A blood relation to some noble in Oshan...

Just as Robert was finding it hard to believe, Chief Hank already turned to Bai Xiaosheng saying, ”Do you think we should contact the military for some support...”

Hearing these words, Robert was utterly stunned.

Then he heard Bai Xiaosheng speaking.

”That’s already enough, Chief Hank; let’s proceed with the search and rescue first...”

”Yes, yes, let’s not waste time!” Chief Hank unconditionally agreed.

Then, Chief Hank said he would personally go to command, and with that, the group left the room with a hustle.

Bai Xiaosheng walked up to Robert and waved his hand to bring him back to reality from his shock.

”Don’t worry, Lorna will be fine,” Bai Xiaosheng comforted him with a smile.

Robert forced a smile and nodded.
